Happy Days - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my second layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Happy cut file.

I'm scrapping photos from a trip my husband and I took to visit our daughter in Colorado. We did some hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped to rest and have some trail mix and this chipmunk decided he wanted some too. He crawled right up in our laps!

This kit included a Vicki Boutin stencil and I was dying to try it out on a mixed media background. I created this one using three different Distress Oxide ink colors. I kept the color palette similar to the pattern papers I used to back the cut file, yellow, orange, and pink. The kit also included a Jillibean Soup stamp set which I used to stamp "This Moment!" on this ephemera piece I place under the photo in the upper right.

From my stash, I added the Day phrase thicker on my title and the snacks for everyone alpha stickers.

Because of the mixed media background, other pattern papers and embellishments were kept to a minimum. I didn't want to cover that beautiful background up!

Foam tape underneath the title and photos gives my layout some dimension.

The chipboard butterfly and bird stickers add some more dimension.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I used the monthly sketch to create this layout, flipping it to suit my photos better.

I was also inspired by Scrapbook.com January mood board challenge.

That sketch and mood board make me HAPPY! Want to see my process?

December Daily Memorydex Prep

Hello blogging friends!

I wanted to try something different this year to document my December memories. A Memorydex spinner would enable me to add multiple cards to document a day if needed, or just one for days when not so much is happening. I can add photo cards, journaling cards, or just cards with paper and embellishments. It's totally flexible. Scrapbook.com has these exclusive pretty blush Heidi Swapp Memorydex spinners and they are on sale now!

Even better, there are coordinating dies and a punch so you can turn photos, papers, die cut ephemera into memorydex cards easily. I've been prepping by getting a few cards ready in advance. I'm using the Crate Paper Hey Santa collection, coordinating cardstock, as well as some other paper and embellishments in my stash.

Of course, I sneak cut files in whenever I can. I love adding filler cards that you can see through. I made these snow globe cards with a Jillibean Soup cut file, transparency paper, and sequins.

Please check out my YouTube video to see how I put these together.

I'll share more cards soon.

Home Sweet Home Decor - Jillibean Soup

Hello blogging friends!

I am trying to catch up on some posts this weekend. I wanted to show you the latest Jillibean Soup Mix The Media houses that are available at your local JoAnn stores.

This house has that rustic farmhouse look that is so popular right now. I stenciled on the Home Sweet Home using a cut file available in the Silhouette Store. These wood houses come in a variety of sizes. I am using the smallest one here. You can get an idea of size if you compare it to the foam brush next to it.

So I want to share my secret for stenciling and not having your paint bleed underneath the stencil. Here I have applied my vinyl stencil I cut out using my Silhouette Cameo to the front of the house. To ensure a complete seal, apply a coat of decoupage or Mod Podge over the stencil openings. Don't worry about it showing, it dries clear and we are going to paint over the top of it.

Let the decoupage dry. Using a stencil brush apply some chalk paint by dabbing it over the stencil openings. Do not use side to side movements with the brush. This could cause paint bleed. You should be dabbing up and down. I like chalk paint when stenciling because it is a very thick paint and therefore less likely to bleed as well.

Here is house number 2, a metal house cut out of tin. A little more chic than a block of wood and looks amazing with a vinyl phrase added to it.

You can find this cut file from Jillibean Soup in the Silhouette Store.

Here is house number 3, a wooden house frame with a white insert. There are so many options for adding cut files to this house to make this uniquely yours. Being a cat lover here is what I went with...

Dog lovers, do not worry, Jillibean Soup has plenty of cut files for you too.

All of these houses are at your local JoAnn stores now! Grab a coupon and check it out. Shop online if you are sick or worried about getting sick.

Vintage Truck Holiday Gift - Jillibean Soup

Hello blogging friends!

My husband is restoring an old truck...  ok, so maybe not so much restoring right now as the truck is in pieces in our garage! I hope the restoration will start soon. Anyway, when I say this Vintage Truck svg from SVGcuts, I knew I had to make it. The old guy's birthday is coming up after all. But I discovered that a small loaf of banana or pumpkin bread fits in the truck bed perfectly and I thought it would also make a really cool hostess gift. I guess I'll need to make a few more of these.

I used a Jillibean Soup digital cut file available in the Silhouette Store and printed it on vellum for my truck's door signs. Jillibean Soup has lots of cut files you could choose from. I opted for the dairy sign as my father grew up on a dairy farm, but there are pigs, chickens, cow, flower signs as well.

Of course you want a hostess gift to look pretty too so I added a Jillibean Soup shaker tag and huge bow to the bread bag. Here too I used another Jillibean Soup digital cut file and printed it right on the tag. It looks like I stamped it! I filled the shaker with two shades of blue beads. I didn't want to cover up the words though.

I love how this turned out. It even has headlights and taillights!. Be sure to check out SVGcuts because their 3D cut files will astound you.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Dandelion Wishes - PageMaps

Hello blogging friends!

I know National Scrapbook Day was a few weeks ago ... but I am trying to catch up on my blogging after being sick for a few weeks. Becky Fleck from PageMaps asked me to be a guest designer for May with some special sketches for National Scrapbook Day. I love working with Becky's sketches. Here is the awesome one she sent me...

I found a beautiful cut file in the Silhouette store that I was dying to use. It's called Dandelion Wishes and is from Jillibean Soup. I used the Spoonful of Soul collection, also from Jillibean Soup to create my layout and I had the sweetest photos to scrap.

I did some computer journaling and double cut my title to give it a shadow effect. For the wishes portion of my title, I used alpha stickers and stitched over the top to give it some texture. I love the dandelion sticker I placed behind my title.

I pulled out an old border punch to create an interesting contrast with a striped pattern paper over the top of this gorgeous floral pattern paper and beautiful blue pattern paper. I added some stickers to the bottom right of my photo to correlate with the sketch.

The cut file backed in white creates quite a contrast against the blue pattern paper. I used markers to color in the dandelions and added a few splatters of white spray mist.

The photos were mounted using foam adhesive for dimension. I just love how this layout turned out!

Be sure to check out the other PageMaps sketches for May.

Mix The Media Home Decor - Jillibean Soup

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to announce that I will be designing for Jillibean Soup for another year. I love creating Farmhouse home decor projects using their digital cut files available in the Silhouette store.

Wagging Tails Rustic White Frame

My last home decor piece today I created for my daughter. If you are you a dog lover, this sign is perfect for you! My daughter who has 2 dogs; a big great pyrenees and a tiny terrior mix. One loves the snow and the other can't stand the cold and needs a sweater and boots on before she will go out to do her business. This Home Is Filled With Kisses, Wagging Tails, Wet Noses and Love rustic sign is just what she needed to keep by her door to hang leashes and dog sweaters on.

I just love these wagging tail hooks I found at IKEA. I used a red matte vinyl and transferred it to this rustic white frame.

Bloom - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have a fun Spring mixed media layout to share with you that I created using some new JustNick Studios digital cut files. I am in dire need of warmer weather. We got snow dumped on us again a few days ago... it still hasn't melted either. So I decided to create my own sunshine in my scrapbook room on this layout. I used Vicki Boutin's Kaleidoscope and Field Notes collections along with some Jillibean Soup Rainbow Roux.

I had a lot of fun creating a rainbow mixed media background using Vicki Boutin's Art Crayons. They coordinate so well with the papers I used to back the flowers in the beautiful Spring Floral Cluster 3 digital cut file. Isn't this floral cluster amazing!

For my title, I used the new Bloom digital cut file. It was perfect to coordinate with  my Spring floral cluster.

There is just something about a mixed media background that makes a cut file pop! If you want to see how I made this layout, here is the process video...

Here are the digital cut files I used today...

I hope you are enjoying some warm Spring weather. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your week!

Home Sweet Home - Jillibean Soup Mix The Media

Hello blogging friends!

I have a Jillibean Soup Mix The Media Home Decor piece to share with you today. I wanted to introduce more greenery into my home. Winter has been way too long here in Minnesota and March tends to be our snowiest month. I am so ready for Spring! This Mix The Media rustic pine tray was painted with a grey chalk paint, then a eucalyptus wreath was placed inside the tray along with a canvas sign, gorgeous Jillibean Soup felt flowers, and a buffalo plaid bow.

I covered the canvas with a piece of pattern paper from the Garden Harvest collection, then added this Home Sweet Home in vinyl on top. This is one of the newer Jillibean Soup digital cut files available in the Silhouette store. The purple felt flowers go with the collection's palette so well, plus purple makes me happy (really any color other then snow white makes me happy at the moment, lol), I love those 2 birds I found at a local Bachman's store to display along with my new tray. Bring on Spring!

This was super easy to make and it really adds some farmhouse freshness to my house. Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Jillibean Soup
Mix the Media:  11 x 14 Rustic Pine Tray JB1380
Felt Flowers Pocket of Purple JB1432
Digital Cut Files: Home Sweet Home / Design ID # 273063

Other: Silhouette Cameo, black matte vinyl, transfer tape, Americana Decor chalk acrylic paint in grey, Americana Decor creme wax in brown, 4x6 canvas, Buffalo plaid ribbon, Pumice Stone distress ink

Kid You're Gonna Be Great | Jillibean Soup

Hello blogging friends!

Today I have a layout to share that I created with the Jillibean Soup You Make Miso Happy collection. I was inspired by the black paper with all the white words and wanted to create some word play. On the left is the pattern paper Bonito Flakes with it's white text on a black background and on the right black text on a white background. The Jillibean Soup digital cut file Kid You're Gonna Be Great is perfect for documenting your awesome kids too just like I did here for my awesome nephew! He is a full-time PSEO college student and training for the Army National Guard on weekends... at 17! So much awesomeness called for a large photo.

I continued to added text and embellishments over the photo. Since this is a senior photo, I also added the Senior Year digital cut file as well. This was cut from an orange polka dot paper in the 6x8 All About Dots paper pad.

I love that I was able to scrap a masculine layout from a collection that has lots of pastels and beautiful flowers.

Supplies:
