Let The Party Begin - May PageMaps

 Hey everyone!

Have you seen the new sketches over at PageMaps for May? They are fabulous for jump starting a layout. Here is the sketch I chose.

May is PageMaps anniversary month and Becky asked us to do layouts about celebrations. I decided to scrap about my daughter's 30th surprise birthday. Here is my take using the Pink Paislee And Many More collection ...

I split one of the 4x3 photos into (2) 2z3 photos. Computer journaling on a tag saved you from seeing my awful handwriting and allowed me to tell the story of her surprise party. My daughter's boyfriend flew her best friends in from all over the country. She moved to Denver during the pandemic and many of them had not traveled to visit. I loved that he brought them all together for her birthday celebration. I used a mixed media background from Vicki Boutin that brought in the colors from this collection perfectly. I love how this turned out. Here are some detailed pics ...

Picture Perfect in San Francisco - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my fourth layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route collection by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? I used two more cut files on this layout, the Snowflake Heart and the Picture Perfect with Camera. I still hadn't used the Prima Color Spray that was included in the kit, so once again, I created a mixed media background with this spray. It's different from other spray mists I've used. I didn't soak into the paper right away as I expected. I used no gesso. It dried with this really cool shine and mottled effect. I added some blue spray mist splatters for interest.

I cut the picture perfect cut file out of black cardstock and backed it with pattern papers. It's an awesome cut file for travel photos. I am definitely going to use this one again to document another trip.

I cut the snowflake heart out from pattern paper. I love the variegated blue/green tones. I wanted to use a photo that complimented those colors. This one of my daughter from a trip to San Francisco was perfect.

This chinatown mural is amazing! I matted the photo in multiple layers of pattern papers that help to emphasize those colors and tore the bottom edge.

I embellished with chipboard stickers, creating a triangle to draw the eye around my layout. The San Francisco colorful Thickers I pulled from my stash.

This was another really fun layout to create. You can watch my process here.

Baby It's Cold Outside - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my third layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Baby It's Cold Outside cut file cut from one of the ombre pattern papers. The Creative kit was winter themed this month, but I thought I could make a winter cut file work with the Go the Scenic Route papers... after all I am from Minnesota. We know all about cold and snow here.

Ok, so I do not normally scrap photos of myself, and I rarely post any snapchat stories, but these reindeer selfies were cute! I was checking out a story my daughter had posted while hubby was pumping gas in the car and noticed there were new lens added. I had to play... had to, lol.

I backed the cut file with a blue floral pattern paper from the Go the Scenic Route collection.

With that title, I needed to add snowflakes. Once again I created a mixed media background with a stencil and some silver Bo Bunny glitter paste. These snowflakes were so pretty! I added a few more white styrofoam snowflakes I found in my stash to create embellishment clusters.

I love the blue foil ephemera pieces. I added some hemp cord for texture and Nuvo drops.

This was so fun to create! You can watch my process here.

Happy Days - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my second layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Happy cut file.

I'm scrapping photos from a trip my husband and I took to visit our daughter in Colorado. We did some hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped to rest and have some trail mix and this chipmunk decided he wanted some too. He crawled right up in our laps!

This kit included a Vicki Boutin stencil and I was dying to try it out on a mixed media background. I created this one using three different Distress Oxide ink colors. I kept the color palette similar to the pattern papers I used to back the cut file, yellow, orange, and pink. The kit also included a Jillibean Soup stamp set which I used to stamp "This Moment!" on this ephemera piece I place under the photo in the upper right.

From my stash, I added the Day phrase thicker on my title and the snacks for everyone alpha stickers.

Because of the mixed media background, other pattern papers and embellishments were kept to a minimum. I didn't want to cover that beautiful background up!

Foam tape underneath the title and photos gives my layout some dimension.

The chipboard butterfly and bird stickers add some more dimension.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I used the monthly sketch to create this layout, flipping it to suit my photos better.

I was also inspired by Scrapbook.com January mood board challenge.

That sketch and mood board make me HAPPY! Want to see my process?

Rainbow Days - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my first layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit featured the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This month, one of the cut files was a rainbow. It goes perfectly with the colorful Go The Scenic Route pattern papers. Having said goodbye to my 18 1/2 year old faithful dog Satchel last month, I knew I wanted to scrap a layout about him.

I love the contrast of the bright pattern paper against the black cardstock background. With the acrylic paint dripping from the rainbow, it's like the rainbow is weeping. I backed the cut file with all the colors of the rainbow.

I fussy cut a bunch of butterflies out of pattern paper and stitched down the center of each one. The dangling threads give them motion.

I kept other embellishments to a minimum, just a few puffy sticker hearts and dots

This was a difficult layout to do. I cried buckets of tears while making this. I still find myself looking under my desk for him. He was my shadow for so long.

I do have a process video up in my YouTube channel if you are interested in more details about how I created this layout.

Classy & Sassy - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello blogging friends!

Goodness, where did my September go! I'm behind in blogging my layouts I created for My Creative Scrapbook. The September Main kit was gorgeous!! It was full of the Pink Paislee And Many More collection. Being birthday themed, I wanted to show that you could do an everyday layout with it. Here is what I created ...

There are some beautiful floral pattern papers that NEED to be fussy cut. Yes it is time consuming, but so worth it. Since I am working from home, I found that this is a task I can do during boring work meetings, lol. I am scrapping the last photos I have from my daughter Colette and her dog Nana's photo shoot. These are the last pictures of Nana before she passed over the rainbow bridge. I wanted my layout to be extra special. The little dog had so much personality. She was constantly barking at you and wagging her tail ... the classy and sassy title just fit her personality so well.

Here is a close up of those pretty flowers. There are a few die cut ephemera pieces in there as well.

The background is a mixed media page from Vicki Boutin's Let's Wander Mixed Media Pad. I absolutely love these premade pages! An instant time saver.

Happy Birthday to You - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello blogging friends!

I'm late sharing my layouts I created with the September Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. Sorry...(not sorry actually), because hubby and I were in Colorado visiting our daughter there and doing some hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. Having limited our travel during the Covid pandemic, it felt glorious to get away ... even if it was just for a few days.

Anyway, the September Main Kit was full of the pretty Pink Paislee And Many More collection. I found some older birthday photos of my older daughter Naomi and converted them to black and white. I didn't want my photos to compete with the colorful pattern papers in this kit. I've been loving big titles lately so I backed the Happy Birthday To You cut file from Paige Evans with lots of different pattern papers from the kit. This all went on top of one of Vicki Boutin's mixed media backgrounds from the Let's Wander paper pad. I love how this background paper reminded me of balloons and the colors were perfect!

I replaced the I in Birthday with a  fun candle. The candle cut file is exclusive to My Creative Scrapbook. Then I added some fun embellishments on top.

Some fussy cut flowers draw the eye to each of my photos. I've secretly been fussy cutting flowers during boring work meetings, sshhh.

This was her second birthday and she still looks a little intimidated by all the people and birthday candles. lol.

I popped the big title up with some foam adhesive to give my layout some dimension. This was so fun to create.

Taco Tuesday - My Creative Scrapbook

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to share my first layout with the August Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This gorgeous kit featured the Pink Paislee 5th And Monaco collection. I was feeling a tropical vibe and thought I could do a Taco Tuesday layout with a big title. My son rarely takes selfies, so I am glad his girlfriend does.

I love the bright colors in this collection against that dark background! I embellished with some fussy cut flowers, die cut ephemera, and enamel dots.
I love that big title. I created this one myself in Silhouette Studio and am kicking myself now because it doesn't appear that I saved it. Embellishments were kept to a minimum so all those pattern papers in the title get all the attention.
Please check out my YouTube video to see how this all came together ...

Sweet Treats - PageMaps

Hello blogging friends!

Can you believe its July already? That means it's time for July PageMaps sketches. This month I chose to work with this awesome single 12"x12" sketch with two photos.

Here is the layout I came up with...

When my daughter and I were sightseeing in Paris, we found the best macaron sweet shop just blocks from our hotel. Of course we had to try them. Would you believe it was my first time trying a macaron? It was so hard to decide. There were so many colors and flavors! I wanted my layout to depict that, so I found a macaron cut file in the Silhouette store and made a bunch in delicious bright colors. I also wanted to include Parisian ephemera pieces and found this sticker sheet from scrapbook.com.

The pattern papers are from various Paige Evans Pink Paislee collections; Horizon, Whimsical, and Truly Grateful. The subtle patterns and bright colors add interest.

For my title I combined the "sweet" from PinkFresh Studio's My Favorite Story puffy titles with an Amy Tangerine alphabet Thickers I had in my stash.

That scallop border is a rub on. It adds color that matches my macarons. I love the chipboard coffee cups here under my journaling.

Head on over to check out the other PageMaps sketches this month. There is sure something there to spark your creativity. Thanks so much for stopping by.
