My Creative Scrapbook January Main Kit Layout Share

 Hello everyone!

I am really excited to share my layouts with the My Creative Scrapbook January Main kit. This gorgeous kit features the Vicki Boutin Print Shop collection from American Crafts, a Vicki Boutin stencil, and cut files from PearTree Cut Files.

1, Hello Sweet Allie is my first layout. This is my first scrapbook layout about her so you may not know that we foster failed on this sweetie last September. She is just over a year old now and couldn't be sweeter! Even the cats love her! When of the things I did on this layout was to combine the kit stencil with a previous stencil from an earlier kit. I love the effect! I used a Stencil Alpha font from JustNick Studios for her name. Epoxy flair is from Scrappin' Happy Studio.

You can get all the details how how to combine stencils by watching my YouTube Video here ...

2.  Snapshots - This layout is based on the monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker. Because it had strips of photos, I thought it would be cool to frame the photos so that they look like negative strips. I created this cut file myself... not hard, it's just repeating rectangles and squares. I used photos from a trip to Aspen with my husband and daughter Colette who is now living in Colorado. We hike Maroon Bells and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

3. This past August I became a Grandma! I can't tell you how good it feels to see your son taking an active role in my grandson's care. Stinky diapers and all! I had to document the special connection they have. The cut file is from PearTree Cut Files and is included in the kit subscription. Epoxy flair is from Scrappin' Happy Studio.

4.  I couldn't leave Mom out of the picture so my final layout is a sweet photo of her and my grandson Jameson.

I have lots of pattern papers, ephemera die cuts, and chipboard stickers left over for many more layouts. These kits are an amazing value! Please check out all the kits from My Creative Scrapbook here... https://linktr.ee/MyCreativeScrapbook. They put together 4 different kits each month so there is something for every scrapbooker.

December My Creative Scrapbook Layouts

 Hello everyone!

I am really excited to share my layouts with the My Creative Scrapbook December Main kit. This gorgeous kit features the Crate Paper Mittens & Mistletoe collection, a Vicki Boutin stencil, and cut files from PearTree Cut Files.

1. My first layout Merry, Merry focuses on the green pattern papers. I decided to scrap an older wintery photo of my daughter with her Great Pyranees dog Sue. The photo pairs well with the tree pattern paper. Tree farm photos would go really nice with this pattern paper as well.  I added a canvas flair from Scrappin Happy Studio in my floral cluster.

Here is a sneak peek....

You can see the layout in it's entirety in my YouTube process video here ...

2. Let's Get Cozy focuses on the red pattern papers in the collection and that amazing Vicki Boutin Stencil. This one has a photo of my daughter baking up some Christmas cookies, what could be cozier than that? You can find more amazing flare from Scrappin Happy Studio on this layout.

Here is a sneak peek....

You can see the layout in it's entirety in my YouTube process video here ...

3. I Believe is my third layout and it uses one of the PearTree Cut files and the monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker.

Here is my take ...

4. Christmas Traditions uses another of the PearTree Cut files as well as that Vicki Boutin stencil again this time using blues and greens. I couldn't resist staging this photo so I could scrap our newest addition to the family Allie.

My Creative Scrapbook June Main Kit Layouts

 Hello everyone!

I was going to share my July layouts with you and realized I had yet to share my June layouts! This summer is passing by in a blur its going so fast. The June kit from My Creative Scrapbook was full of the new Vicki Boutin Sweet Rush collection and of course more amazing cut files from PearTree Cut Files. Such a fun kit to work with!

1. You Are My Sunshine was the first layout I created having been inspired by the die cut ephemera Sun. Of course that had me singing or humming the lyrics to the song for the rest of the day. That gave me the idea to place the lyrics to the song within the rainbow cut file. I even cropped my photo in a heart shape to match the cut file and dangled it from the cloud. Mixed media is practically a must when using Vicki Boutin collections so I added some glaze using a stencil from a previous kit all down the left side of my layout.

Please watch my YouTube process video for all the details including detailed photos of the finished layout.

2. Sunkissed was my second layout with the kit. This layout is based on the sketch by Laura Whitaker for My Creative Scrapbook.

Here is my take using another cut file from PearTree Cut files that was included with the kit ...

The sun rays were created by using a cut file as a stencil and blending various yellow and orange distress inks. See how I did it in my process video as well as detailed close-ups.

3. Loving This was my third layout, because of course I had to use the paper stencil left over from my second layout.

Lots of fussy cut flowers were perfect for embellishing this photo from a trip to Hawaii a few years back. I have another YouTube process video for your viewing enjoyment and all the details.

4. My fourth layout featured amazing photos from the baby shower I threw for my son and his girlfriend and another PearTree Cut file, Love This Crazy Life.

More details in my YouTube process video and of course close-up photos...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Go check out all the amazing kits available at MyCreativeScrapbook.com

Create Memories - International Scrapbook Day

 Hello blogging friends!

I am so happy to be participating in the International Scrapbook Day festivities over at Scrapbook.com. They sent me a bunch of fun items available in the scrapbook.com store and I created this layout.

I used the Maggie Holmes Sweet Story pattern papers. One of those pattern papers has bows. I used an exclusive scrapbook.com stencil called Little Bows and lots of scrapbook.com hybrid inks and distress inks to create a colorful bow pattern.

The eye-catching thing about this layout though is that awesome ice cream cone! When I saw the scrapbook.com 3.5"x 8.5" Sherbet Cardstock pack I immediately wanted to create a slimline card with all those yummy sherbet colors. My Mom's birthday is coming up and I needed a card. I ended up creating two so I could use one on my layout. I created the scoops using an old Top Dog die I had, but there are similar dies available at scrapbook.com. I didn't have a cone die so the cone is cut from a Silhouette cut file. There is a sentiment stamp set called Sunshiney Days that I used to stamp Live Colorfully.

I created a YouTube video as well. Check out the scrapbook.com YouTube channel to watch it.

Scrapbook.com has loads of great sales going on! Everyday there is a new freebie too just for making a purchase. Go check it out and be sure to stop back every day!

Happy Days - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my second layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Happy cut file.

I'm scrapping photos from a trip my husband and I took to visit our daughter in Colorado. We did some hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped to rest and have some trail mix and this chipmunk decided he wanted some too. He crawled right up in our laps!

This kit included a Vicki Boutin stencil and I was dying to try it out on a mixed media background. I created this one using three different Distress Oxide ink colors. I kept the color palette similar to the pattern papers I used to back the cut file, yellow, orange, and pink. The kit also included a Jillibean Soup stamp set which I used to stamp "This Moment!" on this ephemera piece I place under the photo in the upper right.

From my stash, I added the Day phrase thicker on my title and the snacks for everyone alpha stickers.

Because of the mixed media background, other pattern papers and embellishments were kept to a minimum. I didn't want to cover that beautiful background up!

Foam tape underneath the title and photos gives my layout some dimension.

The chipboard butterfly and bird stickers add some more dimension.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I used the monthly sketch to create this layout, flipping it to suit my photos better.

I was also inspired by Scrapbook.com January mood board challenge.

That sketch and mood board make me HAPPY! Want to see my process?

Family Is Everything - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello blogging friends!

I'm back today to share my second layout I created with the beautiful November Main kit from My Creative ScrapbookThis awesome kit features the Pebbles The Avenues collection as well as some Simple Stories Cozy Days, a stamp and stencil set from Hampton Art, and fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files. Starting to create this layout I knew I wanted to use the Family Is Everything cut file from PearTree Cut Files and I wanted to play with my Distress Oxide inks on a black background. Here is how it turned out ...

This pattern paper is from the Pebbles The Avenues collection. Is that mixed media background not AMAZING! Look at that color!!

I used lots of the die cut floral ephemera pieces sticking to the blues. There are even cat and dog ephemera pieces so of course I had to use them.

And look... a family photo! It's a miracle!!!! Or at least a rare event for my 911 dispatcher daughter, my emergency veterinarian daughter, and my bar manager son.

I LOVE these cut files from PearTree Cut Files. She is located in the UK, but the digital cut files are instant downloads and currency can be converted to dollars.

More die cut ephemera here and foam stickers from the Simple Stories Cozy Days.

Take a look at my trial and error approach to using the distress inks.

Island Escape - My Creative Scrapbook

Hello blogging friends,

I am sharing my first layout with the June Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook with you today. This was such an awesome kit!! I had so much fun creating my layouts this month and can't wait to share them all with you. I went tropical for this one, using some photos from a Hawaiin vacation from about 5 years ago...

I fussy cut a lot of flowers from a floral pattern paper in the collection to tuck behind my photos. I supplemented with die cut ephemera pieces as well, like these stems. A chipboard butterfly adds dimension.

The Creative Embellishment chipboard words can be altered with paint and ink. To complete my title, I added some small puffy stickers from PinkFresh Studios that I had in my stash.

I love these premade mixed media sheets from Vicki Boutin. No mess and quick and easy for people like me who don't always have time to create my own backgrounds.

I love these stamp ephemera pieces. You can cut them apart to use just one, or keep them intact.

Polaroid photos make an awesome journal spot in the upper right.

Do check out my YouTube process video to see how this layout came together...

Summer Celebrations - Elle's Studio

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to be the guest blogger today for Elle’s Studio! I was fortunate enough to be a contributor to the awesome new Elle’s Studio From Sketch to Finish Volume 5 Class too. Check out the class. Sketches are a great way to stimulate your creative mojo.

When I saw this sketch, I saw rays of sunshine. Maybe I am just sun deprived after a long Minnesota winter.  I love including suns on my spring and summer layouts. For today’s layout, I chose to scrap some family BBQ photos. I miss my extended family. Quarantine has been hard. I can’t wait until we can have a family gathering like this again when it is safe to do so. My family likes to eat too. Look at all that food! On this occasion we were celebrating May and June birthdays and my husband’s college graduation (at 55!). You are never too old to go back to school!

Using a stencil, Distress Inks, and an ink blending tool, I got to work and created my sun first.  I stamped my title “Summer” using the Elle’s Studio Typewriter Alphabet Stamp Set and the same Distress inks. After fussy cutting out the alphas, I adhered them down over my sun. I think the white edging on the alphas helps them pop more against the inked sun. I love that ombre look. For contrast, I used the Jane Alphabet Stickers for the rest of my title. I love mixing fonts and colors to make my title eye catching.

Once I had my sun inked on the background paper, I used pattern papers from the 6”x8” Flourish paper pad to ground my photos.  4x6 cards and 3x4 cards work well for adding layers.

This sketch had 3 photo spots, but I wanted to include some journaling too so I opted to use the third photo spot to tell my story. This journal card from the May kit was perfect.

Add embellishments like Elle’s Studio puffy hearts and phrase stickers, whatever makes you happy. I got out the exclusive From Sketch To Finish Vol. 5 stamp set and stamped “happy day” three times under my journaling. One of the last things I do is to add some machine stitching. I love the extra texture the stitching adds.

I think I am going to turn this into a 2 page layout by duplicating it (except  for the sun). I have more photos from this family gathering that I want to scrap. That’s what awesome about sketches! You can easily manipulate them to suit your needs and spark your creativity.
Are you ready to scrap some of your summer photos now?

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the new From Sketch to Finish Vol. 5 class as well as older classes that are on sale now. You will love the inspiration!
If you are wanting to know more about me, check out the Elle's Studio blog post.

Ahhh... The Princess Life - Simple Stories

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with an adorable layout that I created with the new Simple Stories Little Princess collection. This collection is so cute!!!! It's perfect for those little girl layouts, but versatile enough with lots of pattern papers that could do double duty on birthday layouts and more. My two girls loved to dress-up when they were little and pretend that they were fairy princesses. On my layout today, I am scrapping one of the dress-up photos I have of my daughter, complete with ballerina tutu, magic wand, and baggy tights, lol.  I wanted to create a fairy tale scene for my background so I decided to create some fluffy clouds using a stencil and blue distress ink. It was the perfect backdrop for a dragon protecting a castle, a beautiful princess, a magical swan, and royal banners.

I used die cuts from the Tags & Frames pack to create a grid based layout. I embellished each frame with fun, adorable die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack as well as chipboard and stickers, creating little make believe scenes within my frames.

Of course my little princess needed a frog prince who desperately needed a kiss to embellish her photo. Check out these cute bow clips too!

The banners were created from lots of different pattern papers. I tried out my new We R Memory Keepers Banner Punch Board. I LOVE this new tool!!!!  The banners were then stitched together with my sewing machine before adhering to my layout with foam dots. I love how bright and colorful they are.

If you have girls, the Little Princess collection is a must. It is perfect for documenting your little girl's adventures in the land of make believe. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of your week.
