Home Sweet Home - Jillibean Soup Mix The Media

Hello blogging friends!

I have a Jillibean Soup Mix The Media Home Decor piece to share with you today. I wanted to introduce more greenery into my home. Winter has been way too long here in Minnesota and March tends to be our snowiest month. I am so ready for Spring! This Mix The Media rustic pine tray was painted with a grey chalk paint, then a eucalyptus wreath was placed inside the tray along with a canvas sign, gorgeous Jillibean Soup felt flowers, and a buffalo plaid bow.

I covered the canvas with a piece of pattern paper from the Garden Harvest collection, then added this Home Sweet Home in vinyl on top. This is one of the newer Jillibean Soup digital cut files available in the Silhouette store. The purple felt flowers go with the collection's palette so well, plus purple makes me happy (really any color other then snow white makes me happy at the moment, lol), I love those 2 birds I found at a local Bachman's store to display along with my new tray. Bring on Spring!

This was super easy to make and it really adds some farmhouse freshness to my house. Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Jillibean Soup
Mix the Media:  11 x 14 Rustic Pine Tray JB1380
Felt Flowers Pocket of Purple JB1432
Digital Cut Files: Home Sweet Home / Design ID # 273063

Other: Silhouette Cameo, black matte vinyl, transfer tape, Americana Decor chalk acrylic paint in grey, Americana Decor creme wax in brown, 4x6 canvas, Buffalo plaid ribbon, Pumice Stone distress ink

Always Kiss Me Goodnight - Imaginisce

Hello blogging friends. I hope you are staying warm. At the moment, my hubby is attempting to fix our furnace. Yep, what a time for the furnace to act up when temps are below 0! I am typing this huddled in a blanket with a heating pad on my back. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is successful because the repairman said he couldn't come til Monday. Send some warm thoughts my way :)

I have a canvas that I made for Imaginisce up on the blog today. It's Valentine gift week. I thought some wall decor would make for a fabulous gift. I used the My Baby collection. This collection is just so adorable. Definitely a fav of mine.

I mixed up the fonts for some interest and kept the wording large so you could see it from across the room. Those wooden hearts from Creative Embellishments added the perfect touch, especially with some i-Rock bling.

I wanted to maintain the texture of the canvas, but see the pattern paper hearts on my background as well. To do this, I transferred the image from the paper to the canvas using Mod Podge. I've been wanting to try a canvas image transfer ever since my former DT member Wendy Price from over at Quick Quotes made one last fall.  Let me show you how...

1. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the entire surface of the canvas. (I went a little crazy with it here, lol. You don't need to use quite this much.)

2. Cut your pattern paper to the size of the canvas and place paper face down over the Mod Podge. The backside of the paper will be facing you. Smooth paper to make sure it is adhered to the entire canvas.

3. Let dry at least 24 hours.

4. Spritz with water and start to rub the paper off with your fingertips. You can see the hearts on the right side of the canvas where I had already rubbed the paper off.

5. Its ok if it's not perfect. A distressed look is beautiful!

6. Finish your edge with paint or gesso.

Here is a close-up of what the canvas will look like.

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers (My Baby), Die Cuts (My Baby), Buttons (My Baby), i-Rock, Hot Rock Crystals, Foam Adhesive, MagiCut Ribbon cutter
American Crafts: cardstock,
Creative Embellishments: wood hearts,
9x12" canvas,
Epiphany Crafts heart punch
Spellbinders die,
Sewing machine, Coats and Clark thread.
Mod Podge, Gesso

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will give this canvas technique a try.

Paper Bag Mini - Quick Quotes Club Q Inspiration

Hello Quick Quotes friends! Marcia here today with some Club Q inspiration. When I got this month's Club Q kit I thought, WOW! Look at all this gorgeousness. I was so excited too, because these papers were perfect for some photos I wanted to scrap for a wedding gift. My daughter's friend, a girl who practically grew up in my house, is getting married! She has been a struggling single Mom for 4 years and I am so proud of her for the awesome mother that she has become. She didn't think she would find Mr Right. Then all of a sudden, there her was. He loves her little girl as if she were his own and adoption proceedings are in the works. She wants to surprise her family at Christmas with the news and these pictures my daughter took Thanksgiving weekend. So my local friends you need to keep this secret.

I created a paper bag mini with the Stowaway and Summer Breeze papers in the kit along with the embellishments meant for a 2 page layout. There was also a canvas that I inked up with my Powderpuff inks and placed on the cover. The vellum quote is part of the Travel Itty Bitty Box of Quotes. I thought it was perfect for a couple beginning a life together as a family. Did you know these Itty Bitty Quote Boxes come in many different themes. There is one for the Holidays too. Be sure to check it out in the Quick Quotes shop.
I stitched around the edges of the album to keep the paper firmly attached to the paper bag. Just be careful not to stitch your inside pages. What's nice about these paper bag minis is that you can add as many pages to the middle of the album as you want! Here is what the inside looks like ...
This first page is the bottom of the bag. To get this first page to open easier, I removed some of the bulk of the paper bag before adhering the paper which I scored.

There is a journalling tag partially hidden here that I left blank so they can add their own words later.
I used my Powderpuff chalk inks here to create a background using a snowflake screen.
Since these are winter pictures, I thought some icicles would be a nice touch...
And finally the back cover.... This is what my kids would call a booty shot. I take them all the time. Surprised to see that my own daughter would take one after teasing me about them for years. lol.
The bag opening is near the back. It's perfect for me to slip in some more photos for her.
I absolutely love the snowflake die cuts in the kit with these gorgeous brads.

Quick Quotes Supplies:
Stowaway 500: journal spot
Powderpuff Chalk inks in Tahiti, Baha Blue, and Mocha Mama
Travel Itty Bitty Box
Family Full Page vellum

Other Supplies:
Core'dinations cardstock in white
Doodlebug Alpha stickers - Teensy Type in Swimming Pool.

Puttin' On The Ritz - Artful Delight

Happy Monday!! I have another layout to share with you that I created with the fabulous July Artful Delight scrapbook kit using some more of the Authentique Delightful papers and mixing in some the the Fancy Pants Time for Spring paper. This one features my daughter Naomi in her tap dancing days oh so long ago.
Can you see the tone-on-tone stamping I did with VersaMark ink on the background cardstock. Its very subtle, but I love the effect. Karen Baker did a tutorial on creating your own backgrounds on the Artful Delight blog here and it inspired me to use the technique on my layout. I played up the circles in my layout, adding a few more at the top and bottom. I also cut a few extra out and covered up the orange circles in the pattern paper to play up the pink more. I covered the buttons with some of the coordinating paper from the kit, misted the flowers, and I had to add some bling flourishes. Here are some close-ups...
This is my 4th layout using this kit and I still have lots of paper and embellishments left! Look what else is included in the kit...

Horsin Around - Artful Delight

Happy Monday everyone! Where did my weekend go!! This past week was incredibly busy. We attended Trenton's last high school parade this past Thursday. We also attended orientation at North Dakota State University. Trenton got to meet the drumline instructor and he is super pumped for the university marching band. He will be moving up there in less than a month!!  I am not sure if I am ready for him to move out yet, but I am excited to share my Artful Delight layout this week. I just love all the fun goodies Leeanne and Debbie put into these kits! I played with the mist that is included in the kit using some of the canvas butterflies as a mask. Then I just turned the butterflies over and spritzed them with some yellow mist. I like how the splatters make me think of rain when I see these photos.
I love how the butterflies seem to be flying off the page.  Here are some close-ups...
and aren't I clever to use the number tags for the troop number!

Look at what else is included in the July kits....

A Collection of Poetry - Quick Quotes Canvas Inspiration

Marcia here today and I am so glad its the weekend!! I hope you all have wonderful plans. I am going to relax with a good book in my hammock I think. Maybe this one I made with Quick Quotes canvas, the Stowaway collection of papers and Powderpuff chalk ink!
My daughter Naomi is working on her Masters Degree of Fine Arts with an emphasis on creative writing. She has been lucky enough to be published in several literary journals, of which I have several. I thought it would be better to compile at least the poetry into a collection on its own. The cover was finished with Powderpuff ink using a Crafter's Workshop template as a stencil. I then added a few swirls embossed in white and spritzed the whole thing with Tattered Angels chalkboard mist to give it all a shimmer. Here are the inside pages ...

I left some space to add a few more pictures that I am waiting on my daughter to send me. I was in a bit of a panic when I realized I did not have enough of my favorite vellum adhesive; Glue Dots. But washi tape to the rescue!! It worked great to adhere my vellum and I was able to add some color to the washi tape using my Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalk ink. I hope I have inspired you to try some canvas too.

Quick Quotes supplies:
Stowaway papers (100, 200, 300, 400)
Powderpuff chalk ink in Tahiti, Baja Blue, Mocha Mama, Biscotti, and Limeade
(2)  4x6 Canvas

Other Supplies:
white embossing powder by Stampendous
binder rings
boxboard (from a cat food box)
vellum
Tim Holtz idea-ology tissue tape - symphony
Recollections crafting tape
Mini Market alpha stickers by October Afternoon
Tiny Type alpha stickers by Cosmos Cricket
Charme Rose Song Bird flowers by Prima
Ribbon (some from Really Reasonable Ribbon)
Crafter's Workshop 6x6 diamond template
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer mist
Tattered Angels acrylic stamp set for Garden Lattice

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
