April Layout Share - My Creative Scrapbook

  Hello friends.

The beautiful My Creative Scrapbook April Main Kit featured the Making The Best Of It collection from Pinkfresh Studios. While the colors are spring like, this kit is versatile enough for every day and vacation photos as you will see.

 Let me show you what I made...

1.  Sharing This Beautiful Story - I cut this scallop pattern paper all apart and arranged it into a heart which framed my photo perfectly. Watch my YouTube process video to see how you can adhere the vellum floral ephemera bits down without the glue showing through,

2. LOVE, I Want To Be Everywhere With You - My daughter recently went to Costa Rica  for a friend's destination wedding. I couldn't help but scrap this gorgeous photo of her and her boyfriend. Again, I cut a sheet of chevron pattern paper all apart and rearranged it to frame my photo. Lots and lots of machine stitching on this one!

3. This Was Meant To Be - Another layout documenting my newest grand fur baby's gotcha day. I used the April monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker.

4. Spring Is In The Air - I couldn't help but use this gorgeous cut file from The Cut Shoppe that was included with the April kit subscription. I backed the cut file with one of the pattern  papers from the Making The Best Of It collection. The mixed media background sheet is from 49th and Market that came from my stash. Aren't these the cutest pics of my grandson enjoying a ride in a swing?

My Creative Scrapbook puts together 4 kits every month. I used the Main kit. Each kit is put together beautifully. There is really something for every kind of scrapbooker! Go check them all out.

Vintage Truck Holiday Gift - Jillibean Soup

My husband is restoring an old truck...  ok, so maybe not so much restoring right now as the truck is in pieces in our garage! I hope the restoration will start soon. Anyway, when I say this Vintage Truck svg from SVGcuts, I knew I had to make it. The old guy's birthday is coming up after all. But I discovered that a small loaf of banana or pumpkin bread fits in the truck bed perfectly and I thought it would also make a really cool hostess gift. I guess I'll need to make a few more of these.

I used a Jillibean Soup digital cut file available in the Silhouette Store and printed it on vellum for my truck's door signs. Jillibean Soup has lots of cut files you could choose from. I opted for the dairy sign as my father grew up on a dairy farm, but there are pigs, chickens, cow, flower signs as well.

Of course you want a hostess gift to look pretty too so I added a Jillibean Soup shaker tag and huge bow to the bread bag. Here too I used another Jillibean Soup digital cut file and printed it right on the tag. It looks like I stamped it! I filled the shaker with two shades of blue beads. I didn't want to cover up the words though.

I love how this turned out. It even has headlights and taillights!. Be sure to check out SVGcuts because their 3D cut files will astound you.

Winter Wonderland | JustNick Studios

Hello from snowy Minnesota today!

We are still digging out from our latest snowstorm...  and getting ready for another 4"-8" over the weekend. How fitting that my JustNick Studio layout today is a winter one. I really wanted to get this family photo scrapped before spring settled in and we were all sick of winter. (Ok... some of us are already sick of winter!) Check out my layout anyway. I used the Echo Park Celebrate Winter collection...



I used the Snowflake Cluster cut file to ground my photo. The white snowflakes make quite an impact against the dark background.



I wanted to scatter a few more snowflakes onto my page and discovered the Snowflakes 2 cut file has some of the same snowflakes! I cut them out twice, once with white cardstock, then again with vellum. The vellum snowflakes soften my page a bit and I could add a layer of snowflakes over my photo as well.



Along the right side of my layout I arranged a variety of papers and vellum with lots of curvy edges. I wanted you to think blowing snow when you saw it. Here I layered some of the white and vellum snowflakes to create this beauty!



I love how this turned out ... maybe more so because my favorite people are in this photo.

Bon Appetit - Jillibean Soup

I managed to scrap another layout of my European vacation using the gorgeous new You Make Miso Happy collection from Jillibean Soup. I love the pastel florals in this collection, but what caught my eye were those houses in the pea pod parts. I thought they would be perfect for a foodie layout. We tried a lot of different foods everywhere we went. On our last day in Paris my daughter told me we had to try escargot. "You want me to eat a snail!" I said. Well I did ... and I liked it, a lot! Never be afraid to sample the local cuisine. Snails taste a lot like sauteed mushrooms. The trick was getting them out of their shells. We were given a device that looked like a clamp to hold the shell and a little tiny fork to dig the snail out with. If you are looking for a fabulous Parisian cafe close to Musee d'Orsay try the Cocorico. We ate here a couple times it was so good!

I used a Jillibean Soup Tile digital cut file. I love these tile digital cut files. They are perfect for my food layouts as they remind me of the ceiling tiles from farmhouse kitchens. I used the fun yellow pattern paper to back the cut file. I did my journalling on vellum as I did not want to cover up too much of that beautiful background.

I layered lots of the pea pod die cuts with an enamel heart shape to draw attention to my title. I dug out my stash of Jillibean Soup corrugated alphas. I love their texture. There was a lot of brown in my photos and the brown alphas helped to pull the color scheme together.

By printing my photos in a strip, it helps to tell the story.... I look a little hesitant, don't I? lol.  I love my facial expression ... but really they were so good. I would definitely eat them again. To even out the title under my photos, I added a few houses in the opposite corner above my photos with some enamel hearts on top.

I really love how this turned out!

Nurture - JustNick Studios

I had an amazing 2018 ... and I cannot believe I am sharing my first layout of 2019 already! This week we are focusing on layouts about ourselves, or about our 2019 goals. Well lucky for you, my niece took some family photos for us just before Christmas because my selfie skills are severely lacking. I had to crop my hubby out of this photo so it was just me,lol.

I don't do One Little Word, but I like to see the words other people pick and why. It gets me thinking about what I should try to improve upon in the upcoming year. I chose NURTURE. When you nurture something, it thrives. I spend a lot of time taking care of the people around me that sometimes I don't take care of me. My exercise gets overlooked if I need to find some extra minutes in my day. I am sure many of you can commiserate. But I also want to nurture my relationships. It's important to spend quality time not only with my husband, but my aging parents as well (especially my Dad who suffers from dementia).
So here is my NURTURE layout that I created with the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection and awesome digital cut files from JustNick Studios.



I love to create texture and interest on my backgrounds using a white pattern on a white background. It's subtle,not too overpowering. I used the Tin Tile Background  on here. It's a beautiful backdrop for my title created with the Outline Alphas.



This Stem digital cut file is one I use over and over again. I love how delicate it is and it's perfect for layering in your embellishment clusters like I did here.

Life Is Good - JustNick Studios

I am so happy to be back designing for JustNick Studios. You know I am a digital cut file junkie and Nicole's cut files are some of the best out there! Our first assignment for the term is an All About Me project so you can get to know us better. So here is a little about me ....  I've been married for 35 years to a wonderful guy. We had 3 children who are all adults now ... the last one is almost done with college. Wahooo! I also have a lot of fur babies as I am a rescue foster failure as well as a stray magnet. Currently in residence we have 2 dogs and 3 cats. I have been playing with paper ever since my best friend dragged me to a crop night almost 20 years ago. I also love to garden, cook, and read. (Actually, I don't read... but listen to audiobooks while I scrapbook.) This way I can keep up with my neighborhood book club. I work full-time as a software engineer designing software for electric utilities.

For my layout, I decided to document my love for my favorite kitty. He is neurotic as all get out but I love him. He is one of my foster failures. I could not let him go when he was well enough to be adopted.  I used the Paws To My Heart Background digital cut file and combined it with the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Bohemian Dream collection.



This cut file has the cutest little pawprints ...





But you can also see all the hearts that go across the page ...



Check out what I did to the chipboard words that I used for my title. I embossed them with a ultrafine gold embossing powder. Stunning, right!



Cutting this background cut file with a pattern paper that was multi-colored adds so much interest too...

I was originally going to scrap this photo in black and white. But with this collection, my purple jacket wasn't going to clash. I'm not usually fond of purple in my scrapbooking papers, but I love it mixed with other colors here.  You might be able to read my journaling here...

Bubble Bliss | Simple Stories

I am back today with a Spring layout I created with the gorgeous Simple Stories Bliss collection. I just love the soft purples, pinks, and greens in this collection with the pops of black. It is so perfect for Spring photos. I dug out some older photos of my daughter where she was wearing a purple jacket and blowing bubbles from the front steps.

I wanted to use lots of circles on my layout to reinforce the bubble theme. I used a variety of pattern papers and cut my circles in different sizes, arranging them on my layout so the larger circles were in the middle and the smaller ones are at the top and bottom. I mixed in a few circles cut from vellum as well. I even framed one of my photos using a circular cut file from JustNick Studios called Round and Round.

I like mixing fonts for my title. I used the JustNick Studios Outline Alpha here for 'Bubble' as I wanted the letters to resemble bubbles and combined it with the scripty 'Bliss' chipboard text.

The Clear Stickers were perfect for adding even more dimensional bubbles with adorable butterflies or fun text. Then I embellished with more chipboard, adorable bits and pieces, and phrase stickers.

I love how this turned out! I know the Bliss collection would be perfect for your Spring scrapping too.

Dream Big - Stash Bash Youtube Hop

I am back today for another Stash Bash Youtube Hop. This month my friends and I chose to use the spray mist from our stash. I love using mist on my backgrounds with digital cut files! Today I am using the new JustNick Studios Dream Maker cut file in a little bit different of a way. I used a Silhouette sketch pen to draw it onto my background so I could stitch it. But first, I went a little crazy with my spray mist, using the plastic packaging smoosh technique. Once my dream catcher was all stitched, I embellished my layout with the gorgeous new Cocoa Vanilla Studios Bohemian Dream collection.  Here is how it turned out...

It was a crazy amount of stitching!!! But I was home sick for a few days and wanted something to do while being a couch potato and catching up on some TV shows. Sorry for the photo overload that is about to happen ... I just love how this layout turned out!
