Hippo Get Well Card - Lori Whitlock

 Hello everyone!

With cold, flu, and covid season here in full force, chances are you know someone who is sick and could use some cheering up.  I created this adorable Get Well Hippo Box Card (SVGSilhouette) for my cousin. I made a few modifications, placing the heart on the headboard of the bed and stamping my sentiments instead of using the print and cut feature. I am using some new sentiment stamps from Scrapbook.com called Feeling Better 1 and Feeling Better 2. Using a black marker, I even added lines to the thermometer.

When the card is closed for mailing it is completely flat.

Lori has lots of Get Well card ideas in her shop. Go check them all out!

Sending Hugs Flower Box Card - Lori Whitlock

 Hello blogging friends!

Do you know someone that could use a pick me up? Sending hugs with this cute Flower Envelope Box Card (SVG, Silhouette) from the Lori Whitlock Store really lets people know you care. I created this card using the new Echo Park Paper Farmer's Market collection.

The sentiment that comes with this cut file was for a birthday. It is easy to substitute a different sentiment using stamps to suit your needs. This stamp sentiment is from scrapbook.com and is part of their cards for kindness line. You can also add ephemera die cuts and swap out the flower centers with enamel dots to add more dimension.

Check out all the other envelope box cards in Lori's shop. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Create Memories - International Scrapbook Day

 Hello blogging friends!

I am so happy to be participating in the International Scrapbook Day festivities over at Scrapbook.com. They sent me a bunch of fun items available in the scrapbook.com store and I created this layout.

I used the Maggie Holmes Sweet Story pattern papers. One of those pattern papers has bows. I used an exclusive scrapbook.com stencil called Little Bows and lots of scrapbook.com hybrid inks and distress inks to create a colorful bow pattern.

The eye-catching thing about this layout though is that awesome ice cream cone! When I saw the scrapbook.com 3.5"x 8.5" Sherbet Cardstock pack I immediately wanted to create a slimline card with all those yummy sherbet colors. My Mom's birthday is coming up and I needed a card. I ended up creating two so I could use one on my layout. I created the scoops using an old Top Dog die I had, but there are similar dies available at scrapbook.com. I didn't have a cone die so the cone is cut from a Silhouette cut file. There is a sentiment stamp set called Sunshiney Days that I used to stamp Live Colorfully.

I created a YouTube video as well. Check out the scrapbook.com YouTube channel to watch it.

Scrapbook.com has loads of great sales going on! Everyday there is a new freebie too just for making a purchase. Go check it out and be sure to stop back every day!

Happy Days - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my second layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Happy cut file.

I'm scrapping photos from a trip my husband and I took to visit our daughter in Colorado. We did some hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped to rest and have some trail mix and this chipmunk decided he wanted some too. He crawled right up in our laps!

This kit included a Vicki Boutin stencil and I was dying to try it out on a mixed media background. I created this one using three different Distress Oxide ink colors. I kept the color palette similar to the pattern papers I used to back the cut file, yellow, orange, and pink. The kit also included a Jillibean Soup stamp set which I used to stamp "This Moment!" on this ephemera piece I place under the photo in the upper right.

From my stash, I added the Day phrase thicker on my title and the snacks for everyone alpha stickers.

Because of the mixed media background, other pattern papers and embellishments were kept to a minimum. I didn't want to cover that beautiful background up!

Foam tape underneath the title and photos gives my layout some dimension.

The chipboard butterfly and bird stickers add some more dimension.

I am so happy with how this turned out. I used the monthly sketch to create this layout, flipping it to suit my photos better.

I was also inspired by Scrapbook.com January mood board challenge.

That sketch and mood board make me HAPPY! Want to see my process?

Pawsome, You're Possibly The Best - Catherine Pooler Pets Peeking Out

 Hello blogging friends!

I have another Pawsome card to share with you today that I created with the Catherine Pooler Pets Peeking Out stamps and coordinating dies and the Hipster 6"x6" paper pad. These stamps and dies are totally addicting! I find myself reaching for them over and over again when I need a card.

My husband and I just returned from visiting our daughter Colette in Denver. We left our fur babies in the care of our oldest daughter Naomi. It was a tough few days for her. She recently had to put her cat down when told he most likely had cancer and there was nothing that could be done. It's also not the easiest to take care of my 18 year old dog Satchel. I guess he howled for hours. I feel so bad. He has gotten too used to me working from home and now can't stand it when I leave the house. Anyway, I thought she needed a reminder that I love and appreciate her. I'm going to put some gift cards inside as a thank you gift because she did a Pawsome job.

These pawsome stamps and dies are now available at Scrapbook.com.

Happy Birthday - More Pets Peeking Out with Catherine Pooler Stamps

 Hello blogging friends!

I have another adorable card to share with you today that I created with the Catherine Pooler Pets Peeking Out stamps and coordinating dies.

My card base was created with torn paper strips from the Catherine Pooler Hipster 6"x6" paper pad. I added machine stitching to get some texture. Layered over that is the Happy Polaroid Frame and Birthday die cut. Then came this adorable pup all dresses to party! I can't stand the cuteness! Can you?

These stamps and dies are now available at Scrapbook.com.

Pets Peeking Out - Catherine Pooler

 Hello blogging friends!

I have been playing with an awesome new stamp set and coordinating dies by Catherine Pooler that I received from Scrapbook.com. You all know how much I love my fur babies so I was so excited to create some cards with these new products.

That cute paw print pattern paper is from the Hipster 6x6 paper pad also from Catherine Pooler. The coordinating polaroid frame die and eyeglass dies allow you to have some fun with the products and create card that will make the recipient smile!

I stamped my images using a black dye ink pad and then colored them with Copic markers. I am no expert when it comes to coloring, but these designs are easy for a beginner to practice. The sentiment was embossed in white. By using Kraft cardstock, this card has a msculine feel to it which is just what I wanted. I am sending it to a nephew deployed with his National Guard unit.

Summer Celebrations - Elle's Studio

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to be the guest blogger today for Elle’s Studio! I was fortunate enough to be a contributor to the awesome new Elle’s Studio From Sketch to Finish Volume 5 Class too. Check out the class. Sketches are a great way to stimulate your creative mojo.

When I saw this sketch, I saw rays of sunshine. Maybe I am just sun deprived after a long Minnesota winter.  I love including suns on my spring and summer layouts. For today’s layout, I chose to scrap some family BBQ photos. I miss my extended family. Quarantine has been hard. I can’t wait until we can have a family gathering like this again when it is safe to do so. My family likes to eat too. Look at all that food! On this occasion we were celebrating May and June birthdays and my husband’s college graduation (at 55!). You are never too old to go back to school!

Using a stencil, Distress Inks, and an ink blending tool, I got to work and created my sun first.  I stamped my title “Summer” using the Elle’s Studio Typewriter Alphabet Stamp Set and the same Distress inks. After fussy cutting out the alphas, I adhered them down over my sun. I think the white edging on the alphas helps them pop more against the inked sun. I love that ombre look. For contrast, I used the Jane Alphabet Stickers for the rest of my title. I love mixing fonts and colors to make my title eye catching.

Once I had my sun inked on the background paper, I used pattern papers from the 6”x8” Flourish paper pad to ground my photos.  4x6 cards and 3x4 cards work well for adding layers.

This sketch had 3 photo spots, but I wanted to include some journaling too so I opted to use the third photo spot to tell my story. This journal card from the May kit was perfect.

Add embellishments like Elle’s Studio puffy hearts and phrase stickers, whatever makes you happy. I got out the exclusive From Sketch To Finish Vol. 5 stamp set and stamped “happy day” three times under my journaling. One of the last things I do is to add some machine stitching. I love the extra texture the stitching adds.

I think I am going to turn this into a 2 page layout by duplicating it (except  for the sun). I have more photos from this family gathering that I want to scrap. That’s what awesome about sketches! You can easily manipulate them to suit your needs and spark your creativity.
Are you ready to scrap some of your summer photos now?

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the new From Sketch to Finish Vol. 5 class as well as older classes that are on sale now. You will love the inspiration!

Easter Box Cards - Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

With the weather getting warmer I am getting Spring fever as I am sure lots of you are too. I'm in the mood to decorate for Easter, so I thought I would make a couple Easter box cards that I could send out to a few of my favorite little people.

I used a SVGcuts Easter Box Cards cut file and mostly pattern papers from the new Pebbles Hey, Hello collection with a little bit of  Pebbles Lovely Moments thrown in there for the pinks. The Hey, Hello collection even comes with an acrylic stamp set that I used for the sentiment on this card. A few sticker flowers and a ladybug really give my cards a spring feel.

Isn't this baby chick adorable! These box cards fold flat for mailing. I love that they can be displayed on your counter or tabletop and enjoyed over and over. You can see more sticker flowers on this card as well as a butterfly.

Thanks so much for stopping by! The Hey, Hello and Lovely Moments collections work so well for Spring projects. Be sure to check them out.

Adventure More - Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

This week on the Pebbles blog it's all about the guys! I picked out some masculine pattern papers from the newest Jen Hadfield collection Hey Hello; blues, greens, blacks, and a bit of yellow. I knew embellishing would be difficult so I decided I needed a strong design. My go to shapes for guys are stars and triangles. It's been a while since I did a triangle layout so I decided to give it a go... lifting a Pinkfresh Studios layout I did a few years ago. Here is what I came up with ...

I even cropped my photo into a triangle! If you look closely, you can see I added a few machine stitched triangles too.

The watercolor background sets off my photo and the pattern papers beautifully. I tried something different for my background. I wanted to try Lindy's Magicals powdered pigment. These were so fun and easy to use. I have lots more experimenting to do, but so far I am loving the results. Check out the YouTube video below for details. I pulled out the Sun & Fun collection embellishments because I wanted to stick to an outdoor theme. I found these awesome trees and a frog which was just perfect!

I used the Lake Thickers that coordinate with the Sun & Fun collection for my title 'Adventure More'. Not wanting to do much more embellishing, I thought I would just stamp a few butterflies from the Sun & Fun collection onto my background. Note to self... stamping before adding the title would have made things easier.

I added a strip of pattern paper at the bottom of my layout, repeating the triangle pattern in this pattern paper. At the top of the layout, I added a few triangles I had leftover and then a few tags from the Chasing Adventure collection.

I love how this turned out! Watch my YouTube process video to see how it came together. (and things to do differently, lol)

Why don't you join us and create a masculine layout too.

Cardmaking with Peek-A-Boo You | Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

I am celebrating World Cardmaking Day today with some adorable cards I created with the new Pebbles Peek-A-Boo You collection. This collection is perfect for baby boys and girls.

Cardmaking is easy when you can cut journal cards from pattern paper as I did here. The card sentiment is already there for you so you don't need stamps either. This first card uses just one pattern paper for the background. I used some metal dies to give this stork journal card a unique shape as well as for the doily I layered underneath. A pretty bow and some washi tape add a few more delicate details.

Cardmaking doesn't need to be hard. For this card I picked two pattern papers that coordinated well together to create this card background and placed a journal card on top. I added a delicate butterfly to accent the card sentiment.

How about three pattern papers... I used two for the background and added a third for the scallop punched border. Some ribbon, butterflies, and sprigs of leaves are perfect for baby girl cards.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
