January Layout Share - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello friends.

The My Creative Scrapbook January Main Kit featured the Vicki Boutin Discover and Create collection from American Crafts. The kit was also packed with lots of embellishment options including two packages of die cut ephemera, cardstock stickers, foam stickers, and alphas. It was a joy to create with this kit! Let me show you what I made.

1. Happiest Days -I fussy cut a whole sheet of floral pattern paper and used those flowers on this layout of my daughter and I attending a concert at Red Rocks.  This layout was created with a sketch provided by Rebecca Moore for My Creative Scrapbook. Watch my YouTube video to hear how the evening started out so fun and ended with us running for the car in a downpour when it started to hail.

2. Discover The World Around Me - This layout used the monthly My Creative Scrapbook sketch by Laura Whitaker. I am scrapping some photos from the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Lots of layers makes this eyecatching.

3. Our Story - This layout was inspired by one of the digital cut files included with the kit subscription,  Home Sweet Home from The Cut Shoppe and Our Story also from the Cut Shoppe. I decided to make a neighborhood of houses and tuck my first house in there. I had just graduated from college and my husband was fresh out of the Marine Corps. We didn’t have $$ for a down payment but a builder let us do sweat equity… we shingled the roof, put the siding on, did all the painting and staining! Both our families helped with the work and we are so grateful. I tucked the story behind a house because it was a short novella and I didn't want to cover up to much of my layout with journaling.

4. & Then This Happened - You can't go wrong with a grid design. To make things interesting I used strips of pattern paper on my background. These photos are from our last trip to visit my daughter and her partner took us flying!

My Creative Scrapbook puts together 4 kits every month. I used the Main kit. Each kit is put together beautifully. There is really something for every kind of scrapbooker! Go check them all out.

May Layouts For My Creative Scrapbook

Hello friends,

I am so excited to share my layouts created with the May Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This gorgeous kit features the Maggie Holmes Gingham Garden collection and a stamp set from Jen Hadfield both from American Crafts.

I have a YouTube process video for my first layout. Please check it out for details. The adorable canvas flair is from Scrappin' Happy Studio.

I used the monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker to create my second layout. This one features my grandson. Those big smiles were all for Ms Rachel on YouTube.

I always think Maggie Holmes collection's work so well for wedding photos and decided to scrap some photos of my own wedding. The Rustic Ring cut file is from JustNick Studios.

My final layout is of my niece Cora at 9 months. I layered up strips of pattern papers like a layer cake and placed my photo on a doily at the top. She is the cutest!

My Creative Scrapbook puts together four different kits each month so there is something for all different styles of scrapbookers. Go check them all out. The kits are amazing and always full of the newest collections available.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Puppies, I Want Them All - 30 Days of Sketches, Day 28

 Hello everyone,

I recently participated in Series 10 of Christy's Beautiful Life 30 Days of Sketches. I was assigned the sketch for Day 28.

You can find all the sketches in this Facebook Group if you are interested in playing along...30 Days Of Sketches FB Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2437398646556752

I flipped the sketch upside-down and decided to use one of the photo spots for my journaling. Since it is so close to Halloween, I scrapped some photos of my daughter Colette from last year. She dressed up as Cruella Deville at the Emergency Vet Clinic she works at and convinced her co-workers to dress up as dalmations. Unfortunately, no dalmations came into the clinic that night to pose for a photo, but a spotted German Shorthair was a close second. Here is my layout using the Carta Bella Hocus Pocus collection by Steven Duncan...

The title is one I created myself using the JustNick Outline Alphas - https://justnick.myshopify.com/products/outline-alpha . I love this SVG cut file for creating my own titles! A layout about Cruella Deville would not be complete without Dalmation puppies! I downloaded these PNG files from https://freesvgplanet.com/  then print and cut them with my Silhouette Cameo.

Check out my YouTube process video for all the details and more close-up pictures...

February Main Kit Layouts - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm excited to share my layouts with you that I created with the February Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This was one of my favorite kits to date. I love Vicki Boutin's collections and you know I love using her mixed media papers for backgrounds. Let me show you the gorgeous layouts I created...

Happiness is a Wedding Celebration

My niece got married last October at a lake resort in Northern Minnesota. It was a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. I used a PageMaps sketch from February to document the occasion on this 2 page layout. Here is the sketch.

I loved all the photos in the sketch. I concentrated on using more family photos in my layout rather than wedding party photos.

You can catch my YouTube process video here

Stories Of Us

I wanted to bring out the greens in this photo and found a Vicki Boutin Mixed Media background from the Let's Wander paper pad that was perfect. The butterfly exclusive cut file for My Creative Scrapbook kit subscribers cut from a black cardstock emphasizes the circle pattern going on in the background paper.

I couldn't help but do a camping layout as well. This is one of my son and his girlfriend camping in Colorado. I used the sketch by Laura Whitaker for My Creative Scrapbook. You can't go wrong with a grid design. It made it easy to use the tag pattern paper embellished with die cut ephemera, chipboard, and puffy stickers.

Scrap Room Tour

 Hello everybody!

The design team at My Creative Scrapbook is taking turns showing where they create and today is my turn!

Luckily when Pam asked me to do a YouTube video, I was already months into a scrap room makeover. It started last winter with a closet overhaul where some much needed shelves were added. But then like all home improvement projects it morphed into so much more. We scraped off the popcorn ceilings in the entire house, painted trim and walls, and hung and painted new doors. Then I was ready for phase 2; purging tools and supplies I no longer needed and organizing the rest into a room that is my home office as well. I had piles of boxes to sort through. My room looked like an episode straight out of Hoarders. I added some drawers to my scrapbook desk, a magnetic frame for die storage, and repurposed other things like a quilt rack to hold spools of ribbon. What girl cave would be complete without some special touches like my animal print accessories.

This is what my room looked like before.

Please checkout my YouTube video to hear about all my organizing tips, close-up views of storage solutions and a supply list of where you can find some storage items.

My Creative Scrapbook December Main Kit - Pinkfresh Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I wanted to share my layouts created with the festive December Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook which featured the fun Pinkfresh Studios Holiday Magic collection.

1. My first layout Opening Presents is based on the monthly My Creative Scrapbook sketch by Laura Whitaker.

Here is my take on the sketch, using the Opening Presents PearTree Cut File included in the kit subscription. The wreath background pattern paper was fun to embellish with color coordinated ephemera pieces.

Here is the link to my Youtube process video so you can watch how it came together ....

2. My second layout Visions of Sugarplums Danced In Her Head was inspired by the peppermint candy swirl background paper and a photo I came across while browsing through my Christmas pics. We all have these photos where your kid looks away or closes their eyes at the last minute. Well, here is an idea to make use of those oops pics.

3. My next layout The Story of Christmas is a Story of Love uses a cut file from the My Creative Scrapbook archives and was created by Ashley Horton (The Cut Shoppe). I wanted to embellish the Christmas ornaments with the Creative Embellishments Holiday Words chipboard. There was a Vicki Boutin stencil included in the kit and I used it on my blended distress ink background

4. Merry Christmas is my last layout. It uses another PearTree Cut File included with the kit subscription. This layout is all about those favorite Christmas movies we all love to watch.

November Layouts with the My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit

 Hello blogging friends!

I can't wait to show you what I created with the November Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This gorgeous kit featured the Crate Paper Busy Sidewalks collection and cut files from PearTree Cut Files.

Layout 1 is based on the monthly My Creative Scrapbook sketch by Laura Whitaker. I recently purchased some new Vicki Boutin stencils from her Warm Wishes collection and couldn't wait to make a snowy scene on a layout with it. So easy to do with Vicki Boutin's iridescent glaze.

Here is the sketch which I followed pretty close. I love the banner I added. It gives it a touch of whimsy. These are older pics of my son. He used to be such a ham for the camera.

Catch my YouTube process video here to find out how to make it and see more detailed pics.

Layout 2 my focus was on using these beautiful fussy cut flowers from the poinsettia pattern paper. and this Cozy Little Christmas cut file from PearTree Cut files that is included in a kit subscription. This photo is a more recent one of my daughter and her dog Nana. I love it for this title because they are wearing matching Sherpa sweaters.

Catch my YouTube process video here to find out how to make it and see more detailed pics.

Layout 3 features our dog Princeton enjoying his Christmas present, a very large bone. The gifts on the pattern paper was very fitting as were the tags. This cut file is another from PearTree Cut Files and included in the kit subscription.

Sorry no YouTube process video for this one. (yet)

Layout 4 I was determined to use that black cat all wrapped up in Christmas lights. I snapped this selfie of my favorite kitty Spook in my lap last Christmas and knew it would be the perfect photo! I used lots more poinsettias here as I still had a lot left over and yet another cut file from PearTree Cut Files.

This layout has a YouTube process video for you to see how it came together as well as more detailed pics.

My Creative Scrapbook July Main Kit - Vicki Boutin Color Study

 Hello blogging friends

I apologize for the lack of content on my blog the past few months. I just can't seem to catch up after a scrap room remodel in March. I am still organizing, purging, and creating in the middle of it all. I hope to have some new YouTube videos up in my channel soon.

Working with the July Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook was an absolute joy! I love Vicki Boutin's color study collection! Here are the four layouts I created with it.

First up is Create Yourself. This paint brush floral cut file is included in the kit subscription and is from Peartree Cut Files

I was so happy to have some paint ephemera die cuts that I could use to embellish this page that features a photo of my kids and I with our Matisse Cats we painted at our local Paint Pub.

I used a pattern paper with stripes of warm reds, pinks, yellows and orange colors  to give the illusion of painting stripes of color. I kept the florals in the same color scheme.

For my second layout I went for a big title. This Sleep Snack Snap Scrap cut file was a freebie from Cut To You for National Scrapbook Day. I seriously love how these colors pop against a black background.

I love how this cut with the ombre blue pattern paper. Rather than back my cut file, I used foam tape to pop up the letters and give it some dimension. Then I tucked some fussy cut flowers underneath.

And look! Here is another picture of me at a crop a few years ago before glasses and before I went grey, lol.

My third layout features my husband and I at a sunflower field last summer. I kept looking for the right paper collection to scrap this photo. The bright yellows were perfect!

This layout is based on a sketch from Laura Whitaker. All those layers are so yummy!

And my final layout ... Yet another picture of me! This never happens people. You know I almost always scrap my kids. They lead much more exciting lives, lol.

I went on a European vacation with my eldest daughter in 2018 before the pandemic. I am so glad that I got to spend some special time with her. Paris was a magical place and we cannot wait to return. This cut file is included in the kit subscription and also from Peartree Cut files. I backed the cut file with the color wheel pattern paper and added a few scattered hearts myself. I even took the time to stitch this keeping the rainbow theme going. Thankfully the black cardstock hides the blood from needle pricks of my fingers.

Thanks so much for stopping by. If you are interested in subscribing to  My Creative Scrapbook to receive their kits each month you will not be disappointed! They actually have 4 different kits, so there is something for every kind of scrapbooker.
