Baking Spirits Bright - PageMaps

 Hello blogging friends!

Have you seen the new December sketches from PageMaps. I love to work with Becky's sketches. Just looking at them jump starts my creativity! Here is the fabulous sketch I worked with this month.

I dragged my Christmas stash out recently and was horrified at how much there was. So this month I am stash bashing some old Studio Calico, Elle's Studio, and Simple Stories. I went through everything pulling out anything Candy/Christmas Baking related and putting a mini kit together from my stash. I really loved the reds and pinks in these Studio Calico papers and worked to keep my layout monochromatic. Here is what I ended up with.

This photo is from last year. My daughter Colette is living in Denver now and there will be no Holiday baking marathon for us this year. She cancelled her trip home for Thanksgiving and has to work on Christmas. I miss her, so that's why I gravitated to this photo to scrapbook this month I think.

If I am journaling it is most likely on a computer. I printed this out with my printer and then edged it with washi tape. It really adds to the theme.

I used sticker alphas ... no cut files on this layout at all! <gasp>

I need to make some cookies maybe to get me out of my holiday funk. These look really good.

I managed to put together a YouTube process video for this layout. Take a look. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it ...

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Summer Celebrations - Elle's Studio

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to be the guest blogger today for Elle’s Studio! I was fortunate enough to be a contributor to the awesome new Elle’s Studio From Sketch to Finish Volume 5 Class too. Check out the class. Sketches are a great way to stimulate your creative mojo.

When I saw this sketch, I saw rays of sunshine. Maybe I am just sun deprived after a long Minnesota winter.  I love including suns on my spring and summer layouts. For today’s layout, I chose to scrap some family BBQ photos. I miss my extended family. Quarantine has been hard. I can’t wait until we can have a family gathering like this again when it is safe to do so. My family likes to eat too. Look at all that food! On this occasion we were celebrating May and June birthdays and my husband’s college graduation (at 55!). You are never too old to go back to school!

Using a stencil, Distress Inks, and an ink blending tool, I got to work and created my sun first.  I stamped my title “Summer” using the Elle’s Studio Typewriter Alphabet Stamp Set and the same Distress inks. After fussy cutting out the alphas, I adhered them down over my sun. I think the white edging on the alphas helps them pop more against the inked sun. I love that ombre look. For contrast, I used the Jane Alphabet Stickers for the rest of my title. I love mixing fonts and colors to make my title eye catching.

Once I had my sun inked on the background paper, I used pattern papers from the 6”x8” Flourish paper pad to ground my photos.  4x6 cards and 3x4 cards work well for adding layers.

This sketch had 3 photo spots, but I wanted to include some journaling too so I opted to use the third photo spot to tell my story. This journal card from the May kit was perfect.

Add embellishments like Elle’s Studio puffy hearts and phrase stickers, whatever makes you happy. I got out the exclusive From Sketch To Finish Vol. 5 stamp set and stamped “happy day” three times under my journaling. One of the last things I do is to add some machine stitching. I love the extra texture the stitching adds.

I think I am going to turn this into a 2 page layout by duplicating it (except  for the sun). I have more photos from this family gathering that I want to scrap. That’s what awesome about sketches! You can easily manipulate them to suit your needs and spark your creativity.
Are you ready to scrap some of your summer photos now?

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the new From Sketch to Finish Vol. 5 class as well as older classes that are on sale now. You will love the inspiration!

Little Moments - Clique Kits and JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!! It's time for the Clique Kits June blog share. If you would like a chance to win a prize start at the Clique Kits blog and leave a comment, then visit the rest of the blogs and do the same. Here is our fabulous blog line up ...

*Elisabetta Margini https://abcdeliblog.blogspot.com/

I am back today with some more Clique Kit layout inspiration using the June Clique Kit featuring the Elle's Studio Little Moments collection as well as some Jillibean Soup paper and embellishments. Take a look at this fabulous kit...

It is a super versatile kit. I have already used it for vacation layouts, and now a puppy and baby layout! The digital cut files this month were designed by the talented Nicole Nowosad and were absolutely amazing!!

I think those butterflies were my favorite!! Check out this adorable puppy layout I created with them...

With all the pink and blue in this kit, I kept thinking about baby layouts and decided to create this baby girl layout using this months JustNick Studios Freebie cut file; the Tic Tac Toe Background. You can download this file for free until June 30th using the code TICTACTOEFREE at checkout.

This was a bit of a challenge for me, not being a grid based scrapbooker, but I love a challenge to get me out of my comfort zone and try something different. I really love how my layout turned out...

I used the Elle's Studio Little Moments collection and sized my cut file openings to 2" x 2" so that these square project life cards would fit in the openings. I like the ombre effect I achieved by backing the cut file with the ombre pink pattern paper. I filled the solid areas with my photos,  I didn't have enough photos for all the spaces so this vellum heart ephemera piece worked well to fill that last little space.

I even placed my title over two of the squares.

Enough already!!! Let me tell you about my layout...
I love adding sun rays on my summer layouts. I couldn't resist using the sunshine icon in a big way on this vacation layout. I pieced some yellow Elle's Studio paper in the negative space that was from the 6x6 paper pad. This is a great way to use those smaller pieces of paper!

Last summer hubby and I escaped to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior for an extended weekend. The only way to get to the island is by boat ... in our case it was the Madeline Island Ferry. The best part of all was going off grid. Yup no cell phone service except for in the town of La Pointe! No way for our 9 to 5 jobs to call us while we were on vacation!! It was pure bliss.  You are probably wondering what the heck that sign says! The Ojibwa Indian sign on my layout was at the beach. It says "No Life Guard On Duty ... No Diving Or Jumping From Bridge ... Swim At Your Own Risk". The Islands are beautiful and I had so many photos from our trip that I decided to create a couple filmstrips of images. I didn't want my layout to be too busy though so I added the Hello Summer icon in the middle. This worked out well for setting off my title too.

Here are some detailed shots....

The foam thickers were from my stash ... I thought my layout needed a little more dimension.

I  love these Bella Blvd enamel hearts. I think I ordered all the possible colors that were available as add-ons with my June kit from the Clique Store. You can use my discount code Marcia10 and save 10% on your order :)  Lots of other fun stuff is in the store too, so be sure to check it out.

Holiday Gift Tags - Top Dog Dies

Hello blogging friends!

With Halloween just barely behind me now I can start talking about Christmas, right? I am sharing some holiday gift tags today that I created with the new Winter dies from Top Dog Dies. This year I am going to be prepared, lol. Christmas cards are going out instead of my Happy New Years cards and these lovely tags are going to adorn a present for someone special. Are you one of those people who are done doing their shopping by Thanksgiving? or are you like me and are up wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve?

These were super easy to make. I used a ready made chipboard tag. I just had to stamp the "To:" and "From:" and add my die-cuts.

I used the Top Dog Dies Vintage Alphabet set to create these letters for my "Joy" Penguin tag.

Supplies:
Top Dog Dies Cardinal die set
Top Dog Dies Penguin die set
Top Dog Dies Vintage Alphabet die set
Elles Studio Stamp
cardstock or pattern papers
Chipboard Tags Close to My Heart

Santa Baby - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have a layout to share today that I created with the beautiful and festive Tis The Season collection. I am in love with the soft pretty papers in this collection and just wait til you see the gorgeous coordinating embellishments! Here is my layout ...

  SantaBaby

It's hard to believe that smiling girl used to scream her lungs out when made to sit on Santa's lap, lol.  All those different Tis The Season embellishments make it easy to create fun clusters like this one...

  Detail1

You can see I used the die cuts from the ephemera pack, a flair button, wood veneers, and some stickers. I added the twine and the "naughty or nice" with a stamp I had.
The title and subtitle were created from the alpha sticker sheet....

  Detail3

More wood veneers and a gorgeous flower help to frame my photo.

  Detail2

A few more on the other side of the photo along with another flair button help to balance out my layout.

  Detail5

One more picture, because I love the merry die cut that works so well as a photo clip.

  Detail4

I hope I've convinced you to put "Tis The Season" on your Christmas wish list.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend!

Top Dog Dies - Winter Cards

Hello blogging friends!

I am back with a few more Top Dog Dies cards that I created for the new release. I used the Penguin die set and the Snowman die set on these cards...

These were such fun dies to play with! Since they are for winter card making I thought I would not use any pattern paper and instead make use of my white space. I have to tell you, it makes me feel a little naked without the pattern paper, lol.

I used a Kaisercraft stamp for the "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year". I love the tree shape it makes. I also made use of the snowflakes from the Polar Bear die set I featured yesterday and the snow mound using a die from the Penguin die set.

Love this snowman!

Supplies:
Top Dog Dies Snowman die set
Top Dog Dies Polar Bear die set (snowflakes)
Top Dog Dies Penguin die set (snow mound)
Stamp : Kaisercraft

Ok....so here is my Penguin card ...

I created the snowflake background using a stencil from Memory Box and my Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalk ink. The "Fa la La la la" stamp is from Elle's Studio. It's so festive!

Supplies:
Top Dog Dies Penguin die set
Stencil: Memory Box
Stamp: Elle's Studio

Stop by the Top Dog Dies store to see all the fabulous new Holiday dies.
Thanks for stopping by.
