Happy Fall - Lori Whitlock

 Hello everyone.

Fall is officially here and I will soon be venturing to our local pumpkin patch with the family for some fun activities. For Fall wishes, The Lori Whitlock's Pumpkin Truck Back Box Card (SVGSilhouette) is so festive. It reminds me of those trips to the pumpkin patch.

I created my truck from cardstock and added some solid pattern papers from the Echo Park Paper I Love Fall collection. I couldn't resist adding the little racoon to my truck bed. He was cut from a die cut ephemera piece also from the I Love Fall collection.

I know this card will put a smile on someone's face! Best of all it folds flat for mailing. Lori has lots of other fun Fall cards in her shop. Go take a look.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Dad I Love You Beary Much - Lori Whitlock Block Hop

Hello friends! It's blog hop time at Lori Whitlock.

Here is the blog hop order in case you want to start at the top or get lost along the way...

This adorably cute Bears Father's Day Box Card is perfect for the outdoorsy Dad. This card was created with a combination of cardstock and solid pattern papers from The Magic of Winter and The Magic of Christmas collections. The print and cut feature in Silhouette was used for the sentiment. You could write your own or substitute a stamped sentiment instead if that is not available to you. I used an embossing folder to give the panel sides a woodgrain texture and added distress ink to bring out the texture even more. You can find the Bears Father's Day Box Card here (SVGSilhouette).

You're So Cool Island Hut Tutorial for Lori Whitlock

Hello friends.

I have a tutorial for you today for this fun summer Island Hut Box Card (SVG, Silhouette). I used solid pattern papers from the Here Comes The Sun, Bee Happy, and Pets collections. I love the beachy vibe of this card.

Box cards are actually much simpler to put together than you may think. Plus once you have done one, other cards will be so much simpler. Let me show you.

1. Pick out your colors and cut out all the pieces. I like using cardstock for my base as it is stronger than a pattern paper base. Lighter weight pattern papers work better for the paper piecing layers that are added on top. Once I have all my pieces cut out, I like to ink the edges to add dimension.

2. Lets do our card base first. Glue the door and windows on the front of the island hut as indicated in the photo below. Then adhere the two layers of grass roof, lining up the curve at the roof's top.

3. Bend at the dotted lines to form a box. Glue the small tab to the back of the island hut's front panel. Fold the card flat to ensure it will fold flat to fit in an envelope.

4. Let's piece together the back panel next. Adhere the sun's face to the black circle and then onto the sun rays. Glue this onto the card panel matching up the notches as best you can. Glue the palm tree trunk overlay to the palm tree trunk. Then adhere the palm tree's trunk to the card base. Glue the palm tree leaves to the top of the palm tree and add the coconuts.

5. Bend the tabs of the back panel back and adhere to the card base lining up the edge of the tab to the back of the card base. After adhering both sides, ensure you can still fold the card flat.

6. The front panel is next. Adhere the orange beak piece to the black beak leaving the tip of the beak black. Glue the white eye on top of the black beak too. Adhere the beak in place on the parrot body. Glue the parrot's wing in place. Adhere the parrot onto the card base. Glue the palm leaf on the card base too.
7. Bend the tabs of the front panel forward and adhere to the card base lining up the edge of the tab to the front of the card base. After adhering both sides, ensure you can still fold the card flat.

8.  Add embellishments if you want. I added the You're so Cool! die cut ephemera piece from the Here Comes The Sun Frames and Tags ephemera pack and added a puffy flower sticker.

I hope you give assembling one a try. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Panda Kissing Booth Valentine Box Card Tutorial - Lori Whitlock

 Hello everyone!

I’ve been busy making Valentine cards to send out to my nieces and nephews. This adorable panda bear in a kissing booth from Lori Whitlock caught my eye (SVGSilhouette).

I love gifting box cards that can be left out on a counter or desk and give a person a reason to smile! Let me show you how I created this card.

  1. Select your pattern papers or cardstock and cut out all pieces.

2. Ink the edges of the papers to add dimension and shading.

3. I used the print and cut feature of my Silhouette Cameo to print "Kissing Booth" and "5¢" before cutting, but I felt that the words didn't pop enough against the dark papers. I used a black marker to carefully go over the letters. You could also use a marker to add the text when not using print and cut.

4. Assemble the kissing booth card base and box card insert. I added some bakers twine to my banner across the kissing booth. Adhere the insert into the card base so that the panda's arms are in front of the banner on the front of the card.

This card folds completely flat for mailing measuring 5.25" x 5.25". Lori has lots of Valentine card ideas in her shop. Go check them all out and have some fun making your own Valentine cards!

Hippo Get Well Card - Lori Whitlock

 Hello everyone!

With cold, flu, and covid season here in full force, chances are you know someone who is sick and could use some cheering up.  I created this adorable Get Well Hippo Box Card (SVGSilhouette) for my cousin. I made a few modifications, placing the heart on the headboard of the bed and stamping my sentiments instead of using the print and cut feature. I am using some new sentiment stamps from Scrapbook.com called Feeling Better 1 and Feeling Better 2. Using a black marker, I even added lines to the thermometer.

When the card is closed for mailing it is completely flat.

Three Wisemen Box Card Tutorial - Lori Whitlock

Hello everyone!

I’ve been busy making more Christmas cards to send out to family and friends. Lori designed a new The First Noel Christmas collection and I thought it would be a great idea to use the sentiment phrase ephemera pieces instead of using the print and cut feature in Silhouette. This would also speed up my cardmaking, a huge plus right now! I used the Pop Up Three Wisemen Box Card (SVG, Silhouette) cut file along with the coordinating solid pattern paper from the collection. When the card is closed for mailing it is completely flat.

When open, it can stand up by itself. The middle pops out to form a box with a dimensional city scene and star of Bethlehem.

Let me show you how I created mine.
  1. Cut out all the pieces from desired cardstock and pattern papers. I used some Black Soot ink to darken the bottom and middle panel of the blue pattern paper pieces using an ink blending tool.

2.  Assemble the panels and box card inserts. The city scene can be left as is, or add another layer of color on top.

3. I wanted my Star of Bethlehem to really sparkle so I added some gold glitter gel. This needs to dry before you attempt to assemble the card.

4. Glue the panel with the wisemen to the card front about .5" from the bottom of the card lining up the edges on the left side. The opposite end of the panel is then adhered to the far right .5" from the bottom lining up the edges on the right side. The middle panel should fold the opposite of the card base to form a box.

5. Insert the city scene inside the box lining up the tabs to the top of the panel and adhere. Then glue the Star of Bethlehem insert behind.

Lori has lots of Christmas card ideas in her shop. Go check them all out and have some fun making your own Christmas cards!

You can find The First Noel collection and the Pops of Color glitter gel at at Scrapbook.com.
