Baby It's Cold Outside - My Creative Scrapbook

 Hello everyone!

I'm sharing my third layout with the beautiful January Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the American Crafts Go The Scenic Route by Paige Evans. But did you know that each month you also get access to fabulous cut files from PearTree Cut Files? This layout was created using the Baby It's Cold Outside cut file cut from one of the ombre pattern papers. The Creative kit was winter themed this month, but I thought I could make a winter cut file work with the Go the Scenic Route papers... after all I am from Minnesota. We know all about cold and snow here. 

Ok, so I do not normally scrap photos of myself, and I rarely post any snapchat stories, but these reindeer selfies were cute! I was checking out a story my daughter had posted while hubby was pumping gas in the car and noticed there were new lens added. I had to play... had to, lol.

I backed the cut file with a blue floral pattern paper from the Go the Scenic Route collection.

With that title, I needed to add snowflakes. Once again I created a mixed media background with a stencil and some silver Bo Bunny glitter paste. These snowflakes were so pretty! I added a few more white styrofoam snowflakes I found in my stash to create embellishment clusters.

I love the blue foil ephemera pieces. I added some hemp cord for texture and Nuvo drops.

Pupcake Love - Stash Bash YouTube Challenge

Hello blogging friends!

I am embarking on something new ... in addition to blogging, I am going to be doing a lot more YouTube videos. A group of scrappy friends and I will be posting a series of Stash Bash videos. Each month we will concentrate on using one element we all have in our stash ... This first month we are focusing on stickers. Since it is a Stash Bash, I dug out an older BoBunny collection called Happy Tails because I wanted to scrap these photos of my dog Satchel ... and this collection has so many stickers; border stickers, alpha stickers, chipboard stickers, layered stickers ...   Here is the layout I came up with.

I love how this embellishment cluster turned out. That layered chipboard sticker over the dog house <3 <3 <3

I used a lot of these Studio Calico phrase sticker too from the Baxter collection along with some Bella Blvd yellow enamel shapes.

Alpha stickers combined with bright yellow rain slicker thickers make up my title.

Did you notice the dog, and paw print washi tape? I picked it up at the Scrapbook Expo last summer and just now had a chance to use it.

Masculine Birthday Card - Xyron and DCWV

Hello blogging friends. I have a card to share today that I made with the DCWV Hey Sailor Stack papers and stencils, and my Xyron adhesive. The Hey Sailor Stack is perfect for masculine cards or layouts. I decided to make a birthday card.

Let me show you how I created my card...

Step 1.  Trim the anchor image from the 12x12 paper and tape to back of stencil. I like to use washi tape.

Step 2.  Flip the stencil over. I used BoBunny's Gold Glitter paste, but any molding paste would work.

Step 3.  Apply a liberal amount of paste over the stencil using a spatula. Remove stencil and wash off the excess paste. Set the paper aside and let the glitter past dry.

Step 4. Cut striped paper 5" x 6.5" and using the Xyron Mega Runner apply it to the card base. Trim whale paper into 3 strips each measuring 1.5" x 5". Notch one end of each strip of the whale paper. I like to notch my paper strips using a square punch turned upside down so I can see where the punch will make its cut. Adhere notched paper strips to card base using the Xyron Mega Runner.

Step 5.  Place the 5" cartridge into the Xyron Creative Station. Run the anchor paper through the Creative Station.

Step 6.  Cut a piece of fish net and adhere to the sticky back side of the anchor paper. Add some foam squares and mount to card base.

Step 7.  Cut "Birthday" from gold paper using Silhouette Cameo. Run the die cut through the Xyron 2.5" Create A Sticker Maker. Adhere to top of anchor.

The DCWV stencils were so fun to play with. I also used them to add gold glitter paste to a photo. I love how it turned out. You can see this layout here if you are interested.

You & Me - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends! I am having so much fun with the fabulous new Cocoa Vanilla Studios collections. I have a layout to share with you that I created with the gorgeous Hello Lovely collection. When I first saw the collection, I knew it would be perfect for scrapping some of my daughters wedding photos. I am so thrilled with how this one turned out....

   

There are so many gorgeous embellishments to coordinate with the Hello Lovely pattern papers; flair, ephemera die-cuts, flowers, enamel dots, wood veneers, and sequins. I used lots of the embellishments to set off my photo here.

 

I cut the "XOXO" background using a digital cut file from the new JustNickStudios shop... first from black cardstock and then I cut an outline only from vellum. I love the look of sequins underneath the vellum, with just a hint of sparkle. Some stitching with gold thread adds elegance as does my gold glittering title.

A Little Birdie Told Me - Top Dog Dies Inspiration

Hello blogging friends. I have another Top Dog Dies card to share with you today. I found these pretty Bo Bunny papers when I was sorting through my papers and thought they were perfect for a Spring Birthday card. I can't seem to get enough flowers while I am waiting for something to start blooming here.

I layered up the Top Dog Bella Doily die and the Top Dog Vintage A2 Mat die at the top of my card. Don't be afraid to cut your dies and use only a portion, The Top Dog Dies Little Birds and the Close to My Heart sentiment stamp "a little birdie told me .." are a match made in heaven.

Here is my layout created with Woodland Winter collection by Bo Bunny ...

Last winter my daughter and I hiked around Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. Our winter was so cold that the falls had totally frozen over! The blue ice is natural and it makes for an ethereal photo. It was so beautiful! and darn slippery!! We almost broke our necks and should have been wearing spikes. Totally worth it though for this view :) 

I used gesso on my background paper to create the illusion of snow. The fun snow die-cut helps too and cute little wood veneer snowflakes from Creative Embellishments.

Prom Night - Mixed Media Layout for Love My Tapes

Hello blogging friends!  I am sharing a washi tape mixed media layout on the Love My Tapes blog today. Did you know that washi tape is a fabulous way to add layers on a mixed media background. On my layout I layered pieces of torn paper and washi tape, then added some gesso, modeling paste, and inks. Take a look ...

That's my niece in the photo. Isn't she gorgeous!! I couldn't wait to scrap this fabulous picture. 

Here is a closer look at my background. The washi tape I used had text on it. Do you see it? The torn paper and torn edges of the tape give my layout a grungy feel. That chipboard piece is from Creative Embellishments. I LOVE their chipboard. I painted it with gesso then inked it with VersaMark ink and added some shabby blue embossing powder. The embossing powder was heat set until it melted, giving it a little shimmer, perfect for Prom.

My inspiration was those gorgeous blues and those flowers. The other rule is that you must emboss something (dry or heat). I chose to emboss my chipboard piece.

Top 10 of 2013 with a GIVEAWAY!

Hello blogging friends! Happy Holidays to you all!! I feel so blessed for the opportunities that I've had this past year, designing for Quick Quotes, Imaginisce, ScrapTown Lady, and Practical Scrappers. Not only did I get to play with fabulous papers, but some of my layouts and cards were published (or soon to be published). I have many things to be thankful for outside of paper crafting as well. My daughter Naomi just finished her Masters degree, moved home, and got engaged (all in the space of a few days!)  I have cats (8 total), totes and extra furniture everywhere. I feel like its been weeks since I scrapped. Now that Christmas is over, I plan on sitting down this weekend and playing with paper again :)

I can't believe how hard it was to narrow my favorite layouts, cards, and mini albums down to 10. Yes, GASP, I said cards!  Last year's favorites were almost all layouts. One of my goals for 2013 was to work on becoming a better card designer. I am sorry though, I couldn't limit my list down to 10, so I have 13 (it's 2013 after all).  

Without further ado, here are my Top Ten Thirteen Projects of 2013 ...

1.  This card was one of my first projects I made for Imaginisce using the Childhood Memories collection. A similar card was published in Papercrafts Magazine in June. and the layout I made with this collection will be appearing in the May 2014 Scrapbook Trends!

2.  These were some old pics of Naomi enjoying the rides at the State Fair. I used some My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline.

3.  I got brave and started making some mini albums this year. The Imaginisce Endless Summer collection was perfect for this BBQ Recipe album. It contains some of my most requested recipes. You want them? Check out this post ... here.  Preserving your memories is more than just photos!

4.  This was another project I did for Imaginisce. I wanted to try a step card. This was my first.

5.  Quick Quotes has some really fabulous albums. I love how my State Fair mini turned out using the Be Bold collection. It may be more of a favorite because we had such a fun time at the fair that year with my son and his girlfriend. Here is a link to the rest of the pages if you are interested ... here

6.  This was a Quick Quotes card I made for my niece using the One Fine Day collection. She made me a great auntie when her son was born in November :)  He is so precious. I am sure you will be meeting him in some of my future layouts ;)

7.  I made this card for a very dear lady, ( Cheryl Saforek owner of ScrapTown Lady ) for her birthday. I used the Pink Paislee Cottage Farms collection. Loved this collection!!

8.  This is my beautiful niece Bailey and her friend on this layout I created for ScrapTown Lady. I had to use the gorgeous Authentique Be(you)tiful collection.

9.  Here is another layout for ScrapTown Lady with an adorable pic of my kiddos from years ago. This one is Graphic45's ABC Primer collection.

10.   Can't have a favorites list without some BoBunny... this is a card I made with the Prairie Chic collection for ScrapTown Lady's World Card Making Day blog hop.

11.  One more Imaginisce layout of my son and his girlfriend using the Bushel O'Fall collection...

12.  I so enjoyed playing with Authentique's papers at ScrapTown Lady. So much so that I guest designed for them in November. This is the beautiful Peaceful collection and the view out my front window last December. Sadly, it still looked like this into April, lol. My reindeer was frozen in til the snow melted.

13.  This was one of my last Quick Quotes projects I created. It is everything that I love about Quick Quotes, scrapping family photos for future generations. My Mom is the little girl standing in the front. This is the only photo I have of her as a child. Maybe that's why I love it so much. I added some touches of lace and bling
