Trick Or Treat | PageMaps

I can't believe its October already! That means there is a new set of PageMaps sketches available! I love working with Becky's sketches, especially when I have been in a scrapbooking funk. You can concentrate on photos and papers instead of design. The October sketches are so inspiring too. Here is the one I used...

I liked that this had three photos. I could do a layout of all three of my kids. These photos are from years ago. My kids are all grown up now and off on their own. I converted my photos to black and white to coordinate better with my Simple Stories Vintage Halloween papers. I really stuck to the sketch on this one too ... when you see a great thing, don't mess with it, lol.

This might look like I did a lot of layering, but really I didn't. The stickers in this collection are already layered. I just added some foam tape behind them for dimension. Then I layered some cute flair from A Flair For Buttons, added a bow and some enamel dots.

I still love sewing on my paper using a machine and distressing the edges of my papers. I used washi tape above and below my photos and some black spray mist behind my title to help it pop more.

A Martha Stewart spider web border punch was a fun touch to add. Some sticker bats and black ink splatters help draw the eyes from bottom left to top right.

Myrtle Beach - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I was inspired by some of Nicole's newest cut files in the JustNick Studios online store to scrap some summer beach photos. While vacationing in Myrtle Beach, I loved getting up before the sun and walking along the beach looking for shells and watching the sunrise. I used the Crate Paper Sunny Days collection by Maggie Holmes.



I love the new Beach Sand Surf title cut files. I backed the Beach one to have some beach sand on the bottom half by adding some torn kraft cardstock.



I added some PinkFresh Studios alpha stickers for the Myrtle part of my title. It was fun to embellish my title with stickers.

The Sunshade Background is a great way to add warmth to your summer layouts with those big sun rays. I did some machine stitching on the rays to add some texture.

Camping Under The Stars - Stash Bash Flair

I am participating with some other designers in the June Stash Bash. This month we are focusing on using our flair; tin pins, decorative brads, enamel dots, woodies. I had some camping flair from A Flair For Buttons so I decided to do a camping layout.

The digital cut file I used is a free cut file from the Paper Issues on-line store. I wanted to back it with some plaid paper in my stash from the Photo Play Paper Lakeside collection. 

I searched through my stash for camping embellishments and found these die cuts from the Imaginisce Happy Camper collection.

I also added some decorative brads from the Simple Stories Cabin Fever collection. This bear was perfect for a Northern Minnesota camping layout.

I wanted to set off the flair on a dark background and found this starry pattern paper from the Simple Stories Heart Simple Set. I cut out some semi-circles to frame the flair.

I like how the digital cut file frames my photo.

Too Cute To Spook - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

It's Halloween week at JustNick Studios so I am back today to share an adorable Halloween layout with you. Since my dog Satchel likes to greet all the Trick or Treaters, I like to dress him up in costume too. The kids love it. Even kids who may be afraid of dogs are not so scared of him when he looks so funny. Seriously, there is nothing scary about my layout! Take a look.



I used the new Spider Web 2 digital cut file for that awesome web as well as the 31 digital cut file for my title and the cat die cut.

I turned my title into a layered die cut by creating a background shadow using the offset tool in Silhouette Studio. I love how it pops against the yellow ink on my background. The googly eyes add a nice touch of whimsy. You can create a whole new look, just by adding a shadow layer.

Happy Days - JustNick Studios

I hope you all had a great weekend! All this week at JustNick Studios we are going to showcase background cut files. I am kicking it off with the Hit Play Background. This cut file is so perfect for all your active subjects. I love how the triangles give the feeling of movement for my layout. Just what I needed for this shot of my son and one of our dogs crossing the Mississippi River at its source; Itasca. I think I must have hundreds of photos from this place. We love camping here and try to go at least once a year. In fact, my son loves it so much that he has it tattooed on his forearm!!



I used the Boy's Fort collection from PinkFresh Studios with a little bit of the Escape the Ordinary thrown in there. Isn't it fabulous! I am really loving these 2 new collections from PinkFresh!

I backed the triangle negative spaces with a variety of different pattern papers, then to make the triangle shape more definite, I outlined the edges with a black marker.

Soak Up The Sun - Paper Issues

I am back today with some summer layout inspiration using the fun Fancy Pants Designs Hello Sunshine collection and a FREE digital cut file from the Paper Issues store. I love how bright and colorful the Hello Sunshine collection is. It's perfect for lots of summer photos including those beach pictures. I combined it with the FREE Sunburst Background and came up with this...

I did a lot of machine stitching on those sun's rays! I love the look of the white on white and with the ink splatters, it still feels like sunshine. I grounded my photo and embellishments using a strip of pattern paper.  All those fun tags and die cuts on both sides of my photo frame it so well. I especially love that flamingo!! Cute Bunny? Dog? Cat? - Paper Issues

Hello blogging friends!

I am participating in the Pawsitively Pets challenge over at Paper Issues this month. This month we were to use selfies with our pets, or just photos of pets that appeared to be selfies. My daughter had fun with our cat while we were on vacation, snapchatting photos of her. They were so cute!! I couldn't help but scrap these. I used the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild At Heart collection and a digital cut file from JustNick Studios.

The flair is from A Flair For Buttons Etsy shop. With the circle die cut, it worked really well to incorporate some flair. There are a few embellishments added in from the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Make A Wish collection as well, like that puffy arrow sticker.

For my title, I mixed up various stickers, Cute Bunny? ? Dog Cat?
