Holiday Cards | JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am here today with some Holiday card ideas (in case you are like me and still making cards to mail). The Holiday Cards 2 JustNick Studio digital cut file makes cardmaking a breeze. Add a couple stickers and some twine or sequins and they are good to go. These first 2 cards were made with  PhotoPlay Paper's Mad For Plaid Christmas collection. I just adore this Santa.

Using some Kraft cardstock on this one gives it a masculine feel. It's perfect for my  brother.

Making cards is a great way to use up some of that stash you've been hoarding too. Aren't these penguins from Doodlebug the cutest! I used some self adhesive sequins from Jillibean Soup to add some bling.

Here is the cut file I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your Holiday with friends and family!

Fall Mini Pallet Home Decor - Maya Road

Hello blogging friends!

I am back again with a second project as a guest designer for Maya Road. For this project I wanted to create a home decor piece with the DIY Wood Mini Pallet 6x6 and the Vintage Burlap Roses in Smoke Grey.

I painted the wood pallet with a creamy off white paint. I thought the soft off white would look so elegant with the grey vintage burlap roses. A BullDog Clip in Bronze holds my photo, matted using the Carta Bella Hello Fall pattern papers and chipboard stickers.

Tucked just above the burlap roses is one of the Acrylic Spool Sentiment Tokens. I love how it looks like a watermark on my photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I have really loved sharing my projects with you.

Back to School Teacher Gift Box - Maya Road

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to be guest designing for Maya Road today! They sent me so many awesome products to work with. When I saw the Work It Office Die Bundle, I thought how perfect it would be to create a Teacher gift. I combined it with an Antique Wood Ruler, a Ken Oliver Vintage Typewriter Charm, and Ken Oliver Waxed Hemp in Fern Green and created this apple gift box (from SVGcuts)...

This apple box opens up and you can place candy and/or a gift card inside.

I really love these eye glasses in the die set, which also includes the notebook paper, the star, the check mark, and the pencil. A little vellum behind the eyeglasses makes them look more realistic. I attached the typewriter charm to the green waxed hemp and tied a bow ... isn't it lovely!

Here is one more look of the apple gift box ...

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Let's Go! | JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

All week on the JustNick Studio blog we have been bringing you Back To School inspiration. Today, it's my turn. I swear, I have the cutest, happiest nephew! Here he is showing off his new backpack.

I used 5 digital cut files to create this layout. The Broken Mirror Background cut file allowed me to use up some scraps filling in the negative space with different pattern papers.

To create movement on my layout, I wanted my title to go up one side of my photo and across the top. To connect the two, I modified the arrow from the All Boy digital cut file, making it much longer. This allowed me to fold it to fit around my photo. I used two different fonts for my title, the Type It Font and the OutLine Alphas. I love mixing fonts to create more interest in my titles.

To finish framing my photo, I tucked the Today File Folder underneath my photo.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

I even have a process video for you. It is part of a Back To School Series with Christine Meyer and Katelyn Clary. Links to their videos will be posted at the end of my video.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a fabulous weekend!

I have been working with the June Clique kit for the past month. This was my 5th layout.... and I made 2 cards too! There is not much left now at all but a few scraps. I think this was my favorite kit so far.... but of course I say that a lot, lol.

My daughter left about a week ago to backpack through Europe with a friend. I dropped them at the airport and of course had to capture a photo for posterity. The Crate Paper Journey collection was perfect for scrapping that photo. They just radiate happiness, don't they. Here is my layout...

I had set aside some of the ephemera, specifically for this photo. To stretch my kit even further, I made use of some of the June printables. Here are some details...

When planning her trip, she would send me emails with her itinerary. The subject in all of those emails was "Europe Baby!", so the title of this layout came easy.

The map I included in the layout was from her itinerary. I love that I can document where she is going on this layout.

What an incredible adventure for her.... I just wish I could go too, lol.

Thanks for stopping by, hop over to check out Mariah next.

Do More Than Just Exist - Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends! I have another layout to share today that I created with the June Dreamquest Clique Kit. This layout has photos from a camping/hiking trip my daughter took last Fall with some friends just south of Duluth. Of my three kids, she takes the most pictures of herself, lol. I wanted to leave lots of white space on that pretty cloud paper, so I clustered my photos and papers at the bottom.

DoMore

The title is one of the exclusive digital cut files that come with the June kit. Since I had many comments about the Silhouette sketch pen I used on my last layout, I decided to show you another way to use sketch pens for titles. Once again I used my gold metallic sketch pen in my Silhouette. But this time I created an offset and cut it out.

  title

Let me show you how you can do this too. The first step is to select Silhouette Sketch Pen in the cut settings window and swap out your blade for a pen.

  SilhouetteTutorial1

Do not remove the paper from the Silhouette yet! Now go to the offset window and select 'Offset'. You can adjust the distance from the pen until it is just how you want it.

  SilhouetteTutorial2

Now go back to the cut settings menu and switch your settings back to cardstock. Remember to replace the blade in your Silhouette too. Drag the original title off the mat. We don't want to cut where the sketch pen drew lines. Since I wanted my title to look more like a cloud, I also erased those inside pieces before cutting. I like using the eraser to do this. You can find the eraser in the toolbar along the left. Now you are ready to cut.

  SilhouetteTutorial3

I hope you will give this a try. Here are some more shots of my layout...

This felt deer was an add on to the November kit, but I could not resist using him here. There are always some fabulous finds in the Clique Store. Coupon code Marcia10 saves you 10%.

Class of 2015 - Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends!

I am sharing a layout on the Clique Kits blog today. Have you seen all the fabulous exclusive Clique Kits digital cut files and printables for June? I wanted to show you a new way to use your cut files today, by using a sketch pen in your Silhouette instead. If you have never used used sketch pens in your Silhouette before, don't be intimidated. It is so easy. You just switch out the blade for a pen and select Silhouette Sketch Pen in the cut settings menu. I used a gold sketch pen on my layout. I have gold fever right now. Just can't get enough of the gold trend in scrapbooking right now. Here is my layout...

I love the gold transparency journal tags in the kit. They are perfect for layering.

It's hard to see the gold glimmer from this angle so here is another view...

I love that the Crate Paper Journey collection can be used for more than just vacation photos. It's just as perfect to use for my niece Bailey's graduation photos (photo credit goes to Danielle Odeen Photography). The photo college was on her open house invite, so I didn't have to use any fancy photo apps.

I am loving these Maya Road wooden tokens too. So fun!

I hope I have inspired you to try using your Silhouette sketch pens on your digital cut files.
There are lots of new items available in the Clique Store (including digital cut files!). Use coupon code Marcia10 and save 10%.

Go ... See ... Do... - Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends!

I have another layout to share using the awesome June Clique Kit featuring the Crate Paper Journey collection! I am not a PL scrapper, but I still love to use those journal cards to tell a story on my layouts. I cut out the "Our Adventure" journal card and started listing a few of the highlights from a late summer camping trip. We were camping in Jay Cooke State Park near Duluth Minnesota. My son was having a great time exploring in the creek nearby. I remember yelling at him not to ruin his new school tennis shoes in the water. So he carefully took them off and left them on the bank before jumping rocks to cross the creek. I snapped his photo and as he was jumping rocks to come back, he slipped and caught himself, but his foot was sliced open on a sharp rock! We ended up having to take him to a nearby hospital emergency room. Life with boys! You can see I used Lacey's mountain cut file too. It looks awesome with my photo.

  GoSeeDo

One of my favorite parts of the kit are these gold acetate journaling cards. They are super fun to layer over the pattern paper and ephemera pieces. You can see I used staples and even stitched over them to keep them in place. I didn't want to use any adhesive that would show.

Don't you just love these wooden tokens by Maya Road too!

Chief Crazy Horse - June Clique Kit

Hello blogging friends! I am so excited to be sharing the first of several projects using the June Clique Kit featuring Crate Paper's Journey collection. It's perfect for those summer destinations you have planned! What popped out for me as sure favorites was this gold acetate sheet and those die cut feathers. With the tribal feel, I couldn't help but dig out a picture from a trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota of Chief Crazy Horse.

Look how gorgeous all this gold is!

I am in love with the Maya Road wooden tokens too.

Each monthly kit has exclusive flair and digital printables and cut files. I used one of the printables in the upper left corner of the photo.
