Always Kiss Me Goodnight - Imaginisce

Hello blogging friends. I hope you are staying warm. At the moment, my hubby is attempting to fix our furnace. Yep, what a time for the furnace to act up when temps are below 0! I am typing this huddled in a blanket with a heating pad on my back. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is successful because the repairman said he couldn't come til Monday. Send some warm thoughts my way :)

I have a canvas that I made for Imaginisce up on the blog today. It's Valentine gift week. I thought some wall decor would make for a fabulous gift. I used the My Baby collection. This collection is just so adorable. Definitely a fav of mine.

I mixed up the fonts for some interest and kept the wording large so you could see it from across the room. Those wooden hearts from Creative Embellishments added the perfect touch, especially with some i-Rock bling.

I wanted to maintain the texture of the canvas, but see the pattern paper hearts on my background as well. To do this, I transferred the image from the paper to the canvas using Mod Podge. I've been wanting to try a canvas image transfer ever since my former DT member Wendy Price from over at Quick Quotes made one last fall.  Let me show you how...

1. Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the entire surface of the canvas. (I went a little crazy with it here, lol. You don't need to use quite this much.)

2. Cut your pattern paper to the size of the canvas and place paper face down over the Mod Podge. The backside of the paper will be facing you. Smooth paper to make sure it is adhered to the entire canvas.

3. Let dry at least 24 hours.

4. Spritz with water and start to rub the paper off with your fingertips. You can see the hearts on the right side of the canvas where I had already rubbed the paper off.

5. Its ok if it's not perfect. A distressed look is beautiful!

6. Finish your edge with paint or gesso.

It's a Thrilling Halloween at Scrap Town Lady!

Back to school treats

Hello crafty friends,  I have a couple of Back to School projects to share. I used to rack my brain to find ways to make learning fun for my son. He struggled with school until about 3rd grade. I remember paying him a nickel to read me a bedtime story. Yes I resorted to bribery, lol. But it worked!! I guess money really does talk :)  so onto my post ....  I made these for Quick Quotes. They have a new school collection with bright colors and some really great patterns.
These fun pencil toppers would make homework fun for anyone!

This pencil box (also made with Quick Quotes) is large enough to hold several real pencils. A perfect gift for a teacher, especially with this charm I added. It can be slipped on a necklace to be worn or added to a charm bracelet.

I made these for Imaginisce this past week too...

This apple treat box would look great on any teachers desk and can be filled with treats. I used my i-Top to create this charm using a large magnet daddy and large charm. This could be slipped on a chain later to be worm as a necklace or attached to a charm bracelet.

Spring - Quick Quotes Layout Ispiration

Hello blogging friends, I have a Quick Quotes layout to share with you today and a confession. I have a love besides scrapbooking. It's flowers. I have flower beds all around my yard. There is something blooming at all times from May - October (or when it freezes here in Minnesota). My lilacs are one my favorites in the Spring. I love their scent. The Dusty Roads papers are the perfect colors for showcasing my beautiful lilacs, don't you agree?

April Showers?

This is the weirdest April ever in Minnesota! More snow yesterday which turned to rain! I am sure my commute to work this morning will be hell.
Anyway, I have a card to share that I made for Practical Scrappers for their cloud/umbrellas/rain feature.

I saw this cute chick in the Silhouette store and had to buy it. It makes for one adorable shower invite!
I created a baby banner with the Epiphany Crafts pennant tool, using an alpha sticker and cardstock. Those raindrops are from Imaginisce and were applied with my i-Rock. (Been wanting to use those for a while now!)

For the Grad - i-Bond Candy Bouquet

Hello my friends. I made an awesome candy bouquet with my  Imaginisce i-Bond!

I made my first candy bouquet last year for my son's graduation party. It was a huge hit! So now that my nephew is graduating I needed to make another one. I used packaging tape on the first. From the front it looked great. From the back it looked a tad tacky. I thought the i-Bond could much improve that. It worked great to glue my candy to the sticks as well as that 3D grad cap. I know what you are thinking, won't the hot glue melt the chocolate? No, the i-Bond is a low temp glue gun. I applied the glue to my stick first and then to the candy. So much nicer from the back than the packaging tape, see!

 and another plus, there is no cord to get in the way. The i-Bond is cordless!
Candy bouquets are great for teacher gifts, as fundraisers for school boosters, get well gifts, and so much more!

Exploring - Imaginisce Inspiration

Hello my blogging friends. I hope you all had an awesome Easter! I had all my college kids home over the weekend, so my house was noisy again :) And you're never too old to color eggs.

I have a couple Imaginisce projects to share. The first is a layout featuring my favorite cat, Spook. Spook was one of my foster kitties that I couldn't bear to part with. Spook and his brother Jinx came to us from the local pound when they were just a few weeks old with respiratory infections. They were so sick. Wouldn't eat or drink anything. The kids and I took turns forcing feeding them chicken broth with an eye dropper. I paced the floors holding them, patting their backs, and listened to them labor to breathe. I thought we were going to lose them. After a couple days though, they seemed to be able to breathe a little better. Pretty soon they were running around and you would never have guessed how sick they were. Jinx went to his furever home but I could bear to give up Spook and he joined our family. Spook still likes to sprawl across my shoulders so I can pat him :)

My back yard is fenced in, so Spook is pretty safe running around outside. He likes to run out when I let the dog out. It is fun to watch him chase bugs, especially the grasshoppers. Here are some close-ups...

 The title was cut with my Silhouette. The dragonflies were made with an old Sizzix paddle punch. I like to layer them so it looks like they are flying off the page.

Imaginisce - Endless Summer Release

Hello my blogging friends! I have a couple of new Imaginisce projects to share with you today. Imaginisce has really outdone themselves this year with the new collections and Endless Summer does not disappoint.

When I first saw the Endless Summer collection I fell in love with the watermelon paper. My son's favorite food was watermelon when he was a toddler. I couldn't take him into the grocery store without walking out with a watermelon. So I had to dig out these older photos I took of him. We ate LOTS of watermelon in the summer! How could I say no? Could you resist that face?

"BBQ Recipe Book"

The other thing that I love about the Endless Summer collection are the snag 'em stamps. They are all so darn cute! So I wanted to do a project that showcased some of them as well as more of the paper and embellishments. I decided to put some of my favorite BBQ recipes into a book for my daughter. Not just grilling recipes, but other foods you would find at a BBQ. This is something I have been meaning to do for a while, ever since she moved out. These are some of my most requested recipes and include recipes from my mother and grandmother as well as friends. I printed my recipes onto larger index cards and trimmed them down rather than hand write them as I wanted to fit the entire recipe on the front of the card. The larger index cards went through my printer easier. The stamps worked so well to embellish the recipe cards inside. I think this is something my daughter will treasure for many years :)  ( I couldn't resist adding those ants)

I used washi tape with the Epiphany Crafts button. Gives it a translucent look. I love it!

Preschool Days - March Pagemaps Reveal

Hello my blogging friends! I was so excited to be able to work with Becky Fleck and design a layout with one of her Pagemaps sketches for March. Here is the sketch. Isn't it fabulous. I LOVE that banner...

I used the Imaginisce Childhood Memories collection and came up with this....

I thought the Childhood Memories collection would be perfect for these preschool photos. Want to see some closeups?

 

I just love that tree. It's a Silhouette cut.  The swing for my bird was created with boxboard and hemp cord.  

 

A school page has to have stars. I remember getting red and yellow stars on my homework. The Epiphany Craft Star epoxies were just what I needed.

The kite has toothpicks placed behind to give it a more realistic look. It looks like it's going to fly off the page.

Gingerbread Man Mini - Quick Quotes and Clear Scraps Blog Hop

Hello Quick Quotes friends! Marcia here to host the blog today and I am so excited to share with you my Quick Quotes/Clear Scraps project! This was my first time using Clear Scraps acrylic, but you can bet it will not be the last. I LOVE this stuff!

I am using the Gingerbread Man Clear Scraps Keychain Album along with some Cracklin Rose papers and the perfect vellum quote. To tie in with the quote, I decided to use my Epiphany Crafts heart shaped tool and showcase my family in hearts.

Here is how I created this....   I traced the gingerbread man onto my Cracklin Rose paper and cut him out. Then I inked the edges with Mocha Mama ink. Before I glued it to one side of the acrylic, I inked my gingerbread man with alcohol inks. Some copper metallic gives it a sparkling sheen. I love that you can see the paper through the acrylic. My Imaginsce D-Stress tool helped me clean up the paper edges to line up perfectly with the acrylic. I punched a couple holes so I could attach my vellum quote. The face was stamped with a Peachy Keen stamp in white Staz On, but I wasn't happy with it. I wanted the white to really stand out. I went over it with my white Sharpie fine point paint marker. (This works better is you use the marker on the side that is not inked, Otherwise it mixes with the ink and is more light brown.) Here are a few more pages of my album....

So Lucky - Artful Delight

Happy Monday everyone. I have another layout to share that I created with the Artful Delight August scrapbook kit. I was missing my son (moved him up to his dorm at NDSU in Fargo, ND this past weekend), so I decided to do a layout of him and his girlfriend. Last year they attended 2 different schools, and pined away for each other. When they did get to see each other they were deliriously happy as you can see. This  year they are attending the same school.

This sketch from Creative Scrappers #219 caught my eye. With all those circles, I thought of the Prima chipboard stickers in the kit, but I substituted hearts for some circles. After all, I think its obvious these two are in love.

I am really loving the rub-ons and Prima embellies in the kit this month. I used my Epiphany Crafts heart tool to give some of the hearts more dimension.

The chipboard birdcage I painted with a pewter crackle paint and the bird with antique linen crackle paint with ink applied over the top to change the color to match my papers. I did lots of fussy cutting for this title...
