Hey Gorgeous - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have a sweet layout to share using one of the newest cut files in the JustNick Studio store. When I saw the gorgeous new Butterfly Background 2 digital cut file I could not wait to use it. I love the delicate butterflies. This cut file is perfect for Spring photos, but I thought it would also be lovely with a photo of my adventurous daughter. One of the things I learned early on in trying to photograph children was that I had to keep them in one place long enough to snap a few photos. I used props like this ladder. The adventurous ones didn't think twice about climbing up it. My daughter Colette has not lost her sense of adventure yet, 25 years later. I am using the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild At Heart collection.

Here is a better look at those amazing butterflies...

To form my title, I combine the Hey speech bubble from the Girl Power digital cut file with a rubber charm with the word Gorgeous. This was cut pretty small. If you are having difficulties cutting items with your electronic machine try cutting it twice. I find I can get a better cut with a so so blade if I cut it twice.

Here are the cut files I used ...

My Hats - Scraptown Lady inspiration.

Hello blogging friends. I hope the weather has been better where you live. It's cold and rainy in Minnesota. My husband has been on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters since Wednesday. I have to say that while canoeing in the great outdoors is appealing, I would not want to do it in the cold rain. I hope he is having fun with the guys.
I have another Scraptown Lady layout to share with you today. I played with the Graphic 45 Ladies Diary collection. This collection has the most beautiful papers and coordinating chipboard pieces. Of course I had to use the My Favorite Things Die-Namics dies again too. Scraptown Lady has an amazing selection of papers, dies and now chipboard from Blue Fern Studios!! You really need to check it out.

This week I used the sketch from the amazing Nadia Cannizzo over at Once Upon a Sketch

I did a lot of distressing, fussy cutting and die cuts on this. I thought layers of the fishtail flags would look fabulous under the photo. I want to share a trick with you too. To keep the dies from moving around as you make your sandwich, adhere them to your paper with a little washi tape. This is especially helpful when you are cutting a striped pattern.

Want to see some close-ups...  This lady was meant to be fussy cut out, don't you think! I love her hat :)

I love this chipboard piece and had to accent it with some Kaisercraft pearls.

These Prima flowers were the perfect color. The buttons I made with a die, cutting first a button from boxboard and then from my pattern paper. This gives the buttons some dimension and lets me add floss without having to worry about ripping the paper.

Since my page is so busy, I hid my journaling under the photo. I have always loved wearing hats. My girls loved to play dress up with some of them :) This is my daughter Naomi at age 2 with a hat I just had to have for a Caribbean cruise. I even wore a hat, not a veil when I got married.

Imaginisce - Endless Summer Release

Hello my blogging friends! I have a couple of new Imaginisce projects to share with you today. Imaginisce has really outdone themselves this year with the new collections and Endless Summer does not disappoint.

When I first saw the Endless Summer collection I fell in love with the watermelon paper. My son's favorite food was watermelon when he was a toddler. I couldn't take him into the grocery store without walking out with a watermelon. So I had to dig out these older photos I took of him. We ate LOTS of watermelon in the summer! How could I say no? Could you resist that face
Here is "Hooray For Summer" ...

Here is a close-up of some of those embellishments...

Supplies:
Imaginisce: Endless Summer: Patterned Paper, Chipboard Stickers; Sticker Stackers, die cuts, i-Rock, hot rocks rhinestuds in black, colored foam adhesive in black;
Recollections cardstock in white; The Paper Company cardstock in black; Bazzill cardstock in red; Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalk ink in Green with Envy, Bloody Mary; October Afternoon Sprinklers in Strawberry; Sakura Micron pen; burlap

"BBQ Recipe Book"

The other thing that I love about the Endless Summer collection are the snag 'em stamps. They are all so darn cute! So I wanted to do a project that showcased some of them as well as more of the paper and embellishments. I decided to put some of my favorite BBQ recipes into a book for my daughter. Not just grilling recipes, but other foods you would find at a BBQ. This is something I have been meaning to do for a while, ever since she moved out. These are some of my most requested recipes and include recipes from my mother and grandmother as well as friends. I printed my recipes onto larger index cards and trimmed them down rather than hand write them as I wanted to fit the entire recipe on the front of the card. The larger index cards went through my printer easier. The stamps worked so well to embellish the recipe cards inside. I think this is something my daughter will treasure for many years :)  ( I couldn't resist adding those ants)

I used washi tape with the Epiphany Crafts button. Gives it a translucent look. I love it!

Trick Or Treat

Can you believe I actually found time to do a layout just for fun!! This layout features the Imaginisce Halloween collection and my son Trenton dressed up as a frog. I made this costume. It had blanket sleeper frog feet that looked great but were not so good for walking in.

I wanted to try making a spider with my I-top and a spider has to have a spider web, right. This web was cut from vellum with my Cricut using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I then added some machine stitching to make it more web like. I tried some Helmar V2 for the first time to adhere the vellum to the paper so I could stitch it without it shifting on me. It worked great!! I was quite impressed. Here is a close-up...
I am entering this for the latest challenge at Imaginisce which is a color inspiration challenge.

All of these colors are in the Halloween collection and then some.
I am also linking up with the latest Paper Issues challenge; Halloween Harvest Time!

I hope you found some crafty time this past weekend too. Have a great week!

Never a Thumb Sucker - Artful Delight

Happy Monday! It feels like winter is upon us here in Minnesota with the cold weather we are having and there has even been snow in some parts of the state! It was a perfect excuse to stay inside (even though I should have been raking leaves.) and play with my Artful Delight scrapbook kit. Using the Cosmo Cricket Tea For Two papers in the kit, I created this layout of my daughter Naomi.
No, she was never a thumb sucker. Why suck a thumb when you have 5 fingers! This photo of her has always been one of my favorites. To suit the Cosmo Cricket papers, I sepia tinted the photo. The sketch is my own design.I think I am getting the hang of creating my sketches with Adobe Elements now...
Let me show you some close-ups of these beautiful buttons and flowers that are also part of the kit.

I am loving the clothespins and the Studio Calico wood veneer birds too.
There are still some of these kits left. Want to see what else they include?
