Christmas Card Mini - Quick Quotes

Hello blogging friends.  My last Quick Quotes project is up on the blog today. If you are looking for the blog hop and my GIVEAWAY, click here.

What do you do with your Christmas cards now that Christmas is over? I like to save them so I can remember who sent me cards last year. I am surprised some people still send me cards. I didn't send very many this year at all. I vow to do better next year though, ok, else some people will scratch me off their lists, lol. Here is a way you can store those Christmas cards ... inside a paper bag mini album. I like to pick out a few photo cards to decorate my album, then the rest go inside the bag. Let me show you ...

I decorated my cover with some Quick Quotes chipboard. The present was painted with gesso and then inked. The tree was finished with Inca Gold rub.

Lets look inside ...

What's great about paper bag minis is that you can add as many pages inside as you want. The rest of my cards can be stored inside the bag.

To keep the cards from falling out, tie a ribbon around your mini.

Quick Quotes supplies:
Cracklin' Rose 100, 300, 400, 500
Copper Kettle 200
Birthday Gift chipboard
Small chipboard tree - Club Q
Powderpuff chalk ink in Midnight Confessions, Java, Biscotti, Bloody Mary, and Maraschino Cherry

Other supplies:
Silhouette Cameo - poinsettias
Spellbinders scallop border die
Ribbon, brads, Inca Gold rub, paper bag

Have a great 2014 everyone!

Living a Dream - Quick Quotes

Hello blogging friends. I have a fabulous Quick Quotes layout to share with you using the new Back to Basics collection. This collection is so versatile you could use it for almost anything. I am also using some chipboard pieces from older Club Q kits as well as some other goodies from my stash.

I am scrapping my son's girlfriend, who interned this summer in Missouri at the World Bird Sanctuary. She learned how to care for raptures and did some educational outreach, teaching others about these fabulous birds. I love these photos, they really convey her confidence and love for what she does. That smile says, "Yeah, I got this!"

Here are some close ups. Designers Note: The circles were stamped with Java Powderpuff Chalk ink using things like the cap to my glue bottle and a sponge dauber turned upside down.

I used a vellum quote from the Babies/ Kids/ Family Itty Bitty Vellum Quotes Box Set and mounted it on the same paper I used for my background. The quote was perfect. She's not my kid, but kudos to her Mom and Dad for letting her go hundreds of miles away and supporting her while she was there. (She was not paid for her internship or provided meals)

I used this fabulous sketch by Karan Gerber for Sketchabilites

Decking the Halls - Quick Quotes

Happy Monday! Marcia here to host the Quick Quotes blog today. I have a layout to share with you that I created with the new Happiness collection. This collections is full of bright cheery colors. When I saw this piece of paper that I used for my background, I thought Christmas lights. Yeah, I know, it's not even Halloween yet, lol. So, I went with my inspiration and did a Christmas layout. This photo of my daughter worked really well, since she is not wearing traditional Christmas colors, but purple (her favorite color!).

I used a couple of Quick Quotes Christmas chipboard pieces that I finished with some Creative Imaginations Inca Gold. I just rubbed it on with a damp (mostly dry) baby wipe. They turned out gorgeous!

Quick Quotes has lots of vellum quotes that are perfect so many occasions. I just had to use a Christmas quote on my layout.

NOTE: for a no show vellum adhesive, try Glue Dots vellum adhesive sheets. By far my favorite vellum adhesive!

Our Romance - ScrapTown Lady BoBunny and Blue Fern Studios

Happy Friday my friends! I am so glad its finally the weekend. I thought it would never come.

This week I played with some gorgeous Bo Bunny Prairie Chic papers and Blue Fern Studios Chipboard from ScrapTown Lady. I've been wanting to scrap a wedding photo. This past July my hubby and I celebrated 30 years of marriage. Our romance started at a high school dance. It took him the whole night to work up the courage to ask me, lol. It wasn't until the very last dance ( a slow dance ) that he made his move, prompted by the fact that another guy was headed my way. I was 16. We've been together ever since.
My hubby had emergency surgery after injuring his arm Labor Day weekend. He ruptured his bicep trying not to fall off a ladder. It's been 2 weeks and he still has a lot of pain. I feel so bad for him. He is going bonkers not being able to work. It's a long slow recovery. Once healed, he will have to work to regain his strength in that arm. Dr's say 4-6 months before he is fully recovered. It was his right arm too. Now he is forced to do things with just his left hand.

This paper with its pinks and blues reminded me of our wedding colors. I love the garden feel to the layout, as if when you step through those doors in the photo, beautiful things awaited.

I painted the chipboard pieces with some crackle paint and then used my chalk ink pads to add shading. Crackle paint is my favorite way to finish chipboard. I love the texture.

The gorgeous Prima flowers are enhanced with a Cheery Lynn Flourish.

Christmas - Quick Quotes Club Q inspiration

Hello Quick Quotes friends! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday. Marcia here today with my final Club Q for December. These papers in the Club Q kit were so gorgeous, I didn't want to cover them up, lol.
These pictures are my kids at last years Christmas celebration for the Nixs. The journaling says "All sweetness and smiles when Grandma wants a picture....   But when I want a picture ..." Hopefully I will get a good picture of them this year. I didn't even mat my photos on this layout!! These papers make for some quick, easy and beautiful pages. Even the title "Christmas" is included in the kit! I used the photo corners in the kit to help frame my photos. The chipboard presents were painted with gesso and then inked. The chipboard tree I painted with gesso, and then glued glitter all over it. To keep the glitter on the tree and not everywhere else, I sprayed it with hairspray. It really works! Give it a try. Here is a close-up of the tree...
Quick Quotes Supplies:
December Club Q
Powderpuff chalk ink in Tahiti, Baja Blue

Other Supplies:
snowflake punch - Martha Stewart

Have a great day everyone. I am thoroughly enjoying having my kids home on their Winter Break! I am taking them to see Elf the Broadway Musical in a couple days. I can't wait!!!

The Leaves are Falling - Quick Quotes Inspiration

Hello Quick Quotes friends!  I have an autumn layout to share with you today that I made with the Quick Quotes Cherry Truffle collection. Squirrels for some reason like me to take their picture. I figure they must because they let me get real close. At this time of year they are always stuffing their faces too. I snapped this little guys photo on a recent trip to Itasca State Park in the Minnesota north woods.

I wanted to bring out the yellow a little more, so I distressed the edge of my photo and applied some Lemonade and Mango Mai Tai Powderpuff chalk ink. It frames the photo nicely. I did the same to the red paper. Here is a peek at the photo edge. You can also see that I used my Biscotti Powderpuff chalk ink on the edge of the vellum.
To embellish my layout, I used the Fall Leaves chipboard pieces. I wanted textured leaves, so I started by painting some gesso on my chipboard pieces. I applied more gesso in some places. After it was dry I painted the pieces with some brown acrylic paint. On the leaves, I then applied some Lemonade and Mango Mai Tai Powderpuff  chalk ink. I love how they turned out, textured with muted colors.
Quick Quotes Supplies:
Powderpuff chalk ink in Lemonade, Mango Mai Tai, Mocha Mama, Biscotti

Other supplies:
Core'dinations cardstock
Liquitex Gesso
Americana acrylic paint
bakers twine
Helmar V2 vellum adhesive
Alphabet stickers - Doodlebug Teensy Type in Bon Bon

I hope you will give photo distressing a try, and remember to use those powderpuff inks to add some color.

Quick Quotes Father's Day Inspiration

Marcia here today to host the Quick Quotes blog. I am suppose to share some Father's Day inspiration with you, but I have been recently reminded that not all of us have our Fathers anymore. And for a friend of mine whose 14 year old son committed suicide, some people are no longer Fathers. I made this project with my friend in mind (Thanks Erin (Homemade Cards by Erin) for inspiring me with your wine tag)   ...
Our focus in June is on vellum, so I used vellum to create the rolled flowers, inking the edges with Powderpuff ink. I also used vellum to create my little butterflies which are also inked. The vellum really gives them a delicate look. The larger butterfly is a Quick Quotes chipboard piece finished with Powderpuff ink as well. Here is another view from the top...

Historic Savannah - Quick Quotes inspiration

Marcia here to host the Quick Quotes blog today. I have a 2 page layout to share with you that I made with the Tin Type collection!
I used my Powderpuff chalk inks to finish the chipboard pieces and to add some color to the bricks I created with embossing paste and a brick misting screen. The embossing paste is white and I applied it with a putty knife on top of my brick misting screen. I wanted the orange bricks that are so common in Savannah. To achieve this I applied amaretto ink with a small sponge dauber to the bricks and then used my H2O pen and some Mocha Mama ink to blend the colors. The bricks give a lot of dimension to the page. If you are intimidated by the embossing paste, the misting screens work well as stencils so you can use your Powderpuff chalk inks instead of the spray mists.
I used various colors of Powderpuff chalk ink on the chipboard pieces and on the gate I added a little metallic copper to give it more the look of real metal. I have to admit, when I first saw these chipboard pieces, I immediately thought of Savannah. Savannah has the most gorgeous gardens! I also used my H2O pen to paint on the wing, some tail feathers, and the eye of this bird using the Midnight Confessions Powderpuff chalk ink.

Quick Quotes Supplies
Powderpuff Chalk Ink in Amaretto, Mocha Mama, Green Tea, Biscotti, and Midnight Confessions.

Other Supplies:
Core'dination cardstock in green and white
Dreamweaver Stencils Embossing Paste
Cosmic Copper Brilliance Dew Drop ink by Tsukineko
Mini Brick screen by The Crafters Workshop

I hope I have inspired you to try your Powderpuff chalk inks in a new way!
Have a great Tuesday.

Love Sweet Love - Mother's Day Quick Quotes Inspiration

Marcia here today with some Quick Quotes Mother's Day inspiration for you! I wanted to make a special card for my Mom, so I decided to make an easel card using the One Fine Day collection, a chipboard flower and an assortment of Powderpuff Chalk Inks. The Powderpuff Chalk Inks are one of my favorite Quick Quotes products. I use them all the time, and in so many different ways.
I adhered the vellum quote with vellum glue dots at the top and bottom. The base of the card was dry embossed and then I dragged my Green with Envy Powderpuff Chalk Ink pad lightly over the top.
I also used the Mango Mai Tai Powdepuff chalk ink to add some color to these foam Thickers. This is the perfect way to coordinate your alphas with your Quick Quotes papers! I added a heart shaped sentiment journal spot to the inside of my card so I could add my own words.
The flower chipboard was colored by dabbing Powderpuff Chalk Inks over the top. Then I added a coat of Glossy Accents to make it shine! The butterflies also have some chalk ink on the tips of their wings and bodies.

Come said the Wind... Quick Quotes layout

Marcia hosting the Quick Quotes blog today with some layout inspiration featuring the new colored vellum quotes and chipboard. I used the Copper Kettle colletion for this layout. I love the subtle music notes on the papers in this collection!

I know its spring, but this paper, quote and chipboard tree were perfect for this fall picture of my daughter and best friend. I finished the chipboard with some antique linen distress crackle paint and then applied Mocha Mama Powderpuff chalk ink over it. I punched some leaves from cardstock, water distress them, and then inked them to give them a more realistic look. I also stamped some swirling leaves on the back side of the vellum.
The Color me Crazy flower from Petaloo was misted and then some Amaretto Powderpuff ink applied to the center to make it a little darker.
I placed a hidden journal card behind the vellum quote. The journal card was finished with powderpuff ink and stamped with more swirling leaves.

We've Only Just Begun

When I saw the March kit from Artful Delight, I just had to have it! It was full of awesome papers and embellies. The Be Happy papers from My Mind's Eye and the birdcage made me want to scrap this photo I took at my sister's wedding. (I was her wedding photographer and matron of honor!)  I used the March sketch from Artful Delight as well and this is what I came up with...
I made the roses with the cream colored cardstock from the February kit, using a pale pink Copic marker to color the inside bud. I used the same Copic marker to color the alphas in the kit. The birdcage was finished with a white crackle paint and then inked on the edges. The bird was finished using a pewter crackle paint.
I am so glad that my sister found someone who makes her happy after years of struggling as a single Mom. And my Brother-in-law is a colorful addition to the family. I am thinking I should have this framed for their upcoming 15th anniversary.
If you are interested in making these roses, I have a tutorial on my blog here, Rose Tutorial.
Let me know what you think. I love reading your comments!
