My Greatest Blessings Call Me Mom - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with a layout about my three greatest blessings. The most important and rewarding job I have is being a Mom to my kids. Let me tell you though, it hasn't been easy! I sometimes wish they were little again. Patching up skinned knees is way easier than helping patch a broken heart ... or sitting by a hospital bedside after a car accident. But love binds us together and I know I can get through anything with my kids by my side. So to celebrate Mom's week at JustNick Studios, I decided to scrap a recent photo of my kids with me from a recent camping trip at our favorite spot, Itasca.

I used the Mom digital cut file for the 'MOM' part of my title and alpha stickers for the rest. I love the little flowers and sprigs of leaves welded to the letters. It suits my outdoor photo. I backed the flowers with some pattern paper and then added some enamel dots for dimension.

I created clusters of embellishments on both sides of my photo. To reinforce the outdoor theme I cut some stems from the Stems 4 digital cut file to add to those clusters.

Here are the digital cut files I used today ...

Here is the link to my process video if you are interested...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week and for you Mom's, I hope your Mother's Day is fabulous.

Mom, Just Another Word for Love - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hi blogging friends!

I am back today sharing a layout using the soft and beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studios Free Spirit collection. With Valentine's Day coming, I couldn't resist doing a layout with a heart. I found this awesome cut file by Kolette Hall in the Silhouette Store and knew it would be perfect with the Free Spirit collection. I used a photo of my Mom and I taken on Mother's Day. Doesn't she look great at 70!

MomAnotherWordForLove

I backed the negative space with two different pink pattern papers, then I embellished around the heart with the enamel shapes, flair, and these gorgeous heart pieces.

I didn't want to cover up too much of my die cut heart, so I kept the layers to a minimum and embellished my photo with the ephemera die cuts , wood veneer, and stickers.

I love this background paper with all the words... so fitting for my layout title; "Mom, just another word for love". Check out all of the fabulous papers and embellishments in this collection on the Cocoa Vanilla Studios website

 Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Mother's Day Imaginisce Style + a Tutorial

Happy Monday friends! I have yet another Mother's Day card to share with you. This time using the Imaginisce Love You More collection. I so <3 this collection!

I love how this butterfly turned out. He is a Cheery Lynn die cut.

Supplies:
Imaginisce: Love You More: Patterned Paper, Buttons, Washi Tape; I-Rock tool; Hot Rocks Hearts;
Bazzill cardstock in white; Martha Stewart punch around the page Cherish; The Twinery: Stone bakers twine; Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalk ink in Coal Miner; Cheery Lynn Fancy Butterfly; Silhoutte Cameo die cut machine; Fonts: Rockwell Extra Bold, Lavanderia.

So do you want to know a trick for creating washi tape banners?
Fold the washi tape back so that the sticky sides are stuck together....

Insert into a square punch (turned upside down so you can see what you are doing).

With the tape folded over, it won't stick in your punch.   Then gently peel off the back .

Hope you give this a try!

Simple Pleasures - Artful Delight

Happy Monday everyone! I am so excited to share my Artful Delight layout this week. I love these Authentique papers from the Delightful collection that were included in the kit this month.
I think this is the first layout I have made of myself. There are a few reasons for this... There are very few pictures of me as I am always the one taking them and I really love scrapping layouts of my kids. My friend Denise took this photo. She did not do any scrapbook layouts of herself either. After she died, all of her families memories of her were in a box. To help her kids remember what a wonderful Mom they had, I and some scrappy friends have been working to rectify that. I thought it was time that I started scrapping some pics of me too. I want my family to have something to remember me by (not that I plan on dieing anytime soon).
Here are some closeups so you can see the other gorgeous things in the kit...

Look at what else is included in the July kits....

Now I have to share what I did this past weekend!!
Yup, that's me at 13,000 feet jumping out of a plane for the first time!! I was coerced into it. My son wanted to do this for his 18th birthday. Well my sister is turning 50 in a couple months and her husband signed her up to jump with Trenton too. She called me and told me I had to jump with her, so I did. This is my sister (she got the deluxe package with awesome video).
Here is my son, Trenton...
I have to say though, that my favorite part was not the free fall, but floating down after the parachute opened (and I knew I was not going to die, lol). It is amazingly quiet up there. Here I am coming in for my landing...
We did this at Skydive Twin Cities. Its located in Baldwin, Wisconsin. I would highly recommend the video package. Totally worth it just for these awesome photos. I definitely need to find some scrapbook paper for these now!!
Have a great week everyone!!

Love Sweet Love - Mother's Day Quick Quotes Inspiration

Marcia here today with some Quick Quotes Mother's Day inspiration for you! I wanted to make a special card for my Mom, so I decided to make an easel card using the One Fine Day collection, a chipboard flower and an assortment of Powderpuff Chalk Inks. The Powderpuff Chalk Inks are one of my favorite Quick Quotes products. I use them all the time, and in so many different ways.
I adhered the vellum quote with vellum glue dots at the top and bottom. The base of the card was dry embossed and then I dragged my Green with Envy Powderpuff Chalk Ink pad lightly over the top.
I also used the Mango Mai Tai Powdepuff chalk ink to add some color to these foam Thickers. This is the perfect way to coordinate your alphas with your Quick Quotes papers! I added a heart shaped sentiment journal spot to the inside of my card so I could add my own words.
The flower chipboard was colored by dabbing Powderpuff Chalk Inks over the top. Then I added a coat of Glossy Accents to make it shine! The butterflies also have some chalk ink on the tips of their wings and bodies.
