I was inspired by all the colors of the mood board. I think I included all of them on my layout.

I used the latest sketch from Sketchabilities. I have always loved Karan's gorgeous sketches, and sketches are such a great starting point. The thing that I loved about this one was those circles framing the photos. They mimic the circles in that Life is Good journal card, so of course I had to include that too.

The paper is mostly LemonOwl Weekend Trip with some Webster's Pages Nest thrown in there to bring out the orange. I am so in love with the embellishments and add-ons that are hand selected for each month's kit. I LOVE these felt deer from Freckled Fawn, and how fun is this "Hi" paper clip!!

Some gesso painted on the wood word with my finger helps to soften it a little.

Living a Dream - Quick Quotes

Hello blogging friends. I have a fabulous Quick Quotes layout to share with you using the new Back to Basics collection. This collection is so versatile you could use it for almost anything. I am also using some chipboard pieces from older Club Q kits as well as some other goodies from my stash.

I am scrapping my son's girlfriend, who interned this summer in Missouri at the World Bird Sanctuary. She learned how to care for raptures and did some educational outreach, teaching others about these fabulous birds. I love these photos, they really convey her confidence and love for what she does. That smile says, "Yeah, I got this!"

Here are some close ups. Designers Note: The circles were stamped with Java Powderpuff Chalk ink using things like the cap to my glue bottle and a sponge dauber turned upside down.

I used a vellum quote from the Babies/ Kids/ Family Itty Bitty Vellum Quotes Box Set and mounted it on the same paper I used for my background. The quote was perfect. She's not my kid, but kudos to her Mom and Dad for letting her go hundreds of miles away and supporting her while she was there. (She was not paid for her internship or provided meals)

Tybee Island - Quick Quotes / Sketchabilites / Bird is the Word

I used my favorite Quick Quotes collection, Stowaway, for this beach layout of some of my Girl Scouts. I chaperoned these awesome girls on our Savannah, Georgia trip about 7 years ago. We spent a fabulous day enjoying the beach on Tybee Island. They are in college now and I miss them all tons. Here is my take...

I love using fibers on my layouts for added texture, but on this one I also added some sand ( Flower Soft )...

The waves were cut from a Silhouette file and then layered using foam tape.

Oh yeah, the Word at Bird is the Word Challenge is " Explore / Travel ".

When I saw this quote, I knew it was perfect for my sister's family. I used my Word program to create it, using different fonts and text sizes for interest.

This sketch called for me to use my favorite and most used die; My Favorite Thing Die-namics Fishtail Flags. The dies come in a variety of sizes and makes creating these flags a breeze. I also made my own flowers using the My Favorite Thing Flower and Leaf Trio dies. I used some texture paint to create my leaves and gelatos to add a little more color.

Senior - A Scraptown Lady layout

Hello blogging friends!! I hope you all enjoyed your Father's Day. I have a Scraptown Lady layout to share with you today using the Authentique Hope collection and My Favorite Things Die-namic dies. Even though the Hope collection is an Easter collection, I thought it would be perfect to scrap this senior picture of my son. The browns, blues, and cream colors were perfect. I used a sepia tinted photo to keep the brown tones going.

I used the latest sketch from Sketchabilities by Karan Gerber. You have until the end of the month if you want to play along too. I loved the ink rings and splatters. They were perfect for the Practical Scrappers On Trend team post today.

I used a new barbed wire fence Die-namic's die from My Favorite Things. I added a little gesso to my fence to distress it a bit so that it looks more natural. Here is a close up...

I also used the Button Border Die-namic's die from My Favorite Things again. I love this die! I can create my own buttons with boxboard and matching pattern paper. That's right, these dies will cut through boxboard as if it were butter. The boxboard gives the buttons more stability and depth.

Noel - Sketchabilities Reveal

It's the end of the month and time to reveal my final Sketchabilities layout. I just love Karan's sketches and it has been a delight to design with them these past three months. Here is the latest...

I decided to flip the sketch to suit my papers. Here is what I came up with....

I know its almost Easter and here I am with a Christmas layout! But I love these My Mind's Eye papers!

This last die cut was done by tracing a jpeg with my SCAL software. I am going to have to learn how to do this with my Silhouette.

Midway Thrills - Sketchablities Reveal

Happy Friday!!! I am so ready for the weekend aren't you. I have an awesome sketch to reveal for Sketchabilities...

When I first saw the sketch I had envisioned doing something frilly with lots of flowers. But I really wanted to use these My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Dilly Dally papers I've had for almost a year now. So this is what I came up with....

I love these pictures of Naomi enjoying the rides at the Minnesota State Fair. The Dilly Dally collection came with coordinating stamps that I used to create tickets and also to add some color and detail to my corner cluster.

I couldn't help adding a banner here too. It just adds to the festiveness.

I have been playing around with different fonts and this one was suggested by my friend Caroli. Its called  Lavanderia. I can tell that this is going to be one of my favorites. I love how the Cameo can cut script fonts.

Gossamer Blue and My Mind's Eye are looking for a guest designer, so I thought why not throw my hat in the ring too. I miss working with a scrapbook kit, but with so much paper filling my scrapbook room I am not ready to commit yet to a subscription. My Mind's Eye has always been a favorite paper manufacturer of mine. The guest designer search ends February 16th, so if you want to throw your hat in too there is not much time left.

So I hope to see lots of you playing along in this latest challenge at Sketchabilities.

Card Night

Over at Practical Scrappers the On Trend team is showcasing projects with those trendy wood veneers. Here is what I came up with....

I used wooden game pieces by Maya Road as well as a Studio Calico piece "play". Wood veneers are a great way to add dimension to your projects. I inked the edges of "play" with ink to make it pop. The paper is some old Rusty Pickle leftover from another project. It is perfect for my Card Night layout.

These pictures aren't the greatest, but I love that I have a layout now to remember our good friends. We try to get together at least once a month to play Tripoley. Its a card game that combines Poker with Michigan Rummy and Hearts. We play for pennies, and even though we usually come home with fewer pennies, we love the laughs our good friends give us.

I turned the sketch on its side and took some liberties. I just had to add those playing cards.

Thrill Seeker @ 50 - Sketchabilities Reveal

Hello my blogging friends! It's the 15th and its time for another sketch reveal at Sketchabilities! I am loving these multi-photo sketches Karan has put together ...

Here is my take on the sketch using BasicGrey's What's Up collection...

This is my sister Tina! For her 50th birthday, she made me jump out of a plane with her. This became somewhat of a family affair with my 2 nieces and my son also jumping. So now that I will turn 50 this year, how am I going to top this?  Ideas anyone?
Anyway, I love how this layout turned out. Here are some close-ups ..

This title was my first Cameo cut and I have since downloaded a few new fonts that would make for a more dramatic title. Oh well, next time I promise a more dramatic title, lol. I am addicted to these wood veneers too now after playing with them in an Artful Delight kit. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to make them pop.

Snow Fun - Sketchabilities Reveal.

It's time for another Sketchabilities reveal! Karan has another fabulous sketch up.

Early in December we got 14" of snow here in Minnesota and I couldn't resist taking some pics of my dog Satchel enjoying it. He was just so happy I went outside to play with him. Do you know how hard it is to photograph a black dog in the snow! Well I think I did ok. I love how I captured his energy and obvious pleasure. Here is my layout...

The journaling reads "Are you coming out too? Let's play!!". I am using Little Yellow Bicycle's Winter Twig for this layout. Negative space is something I have been playing with and on this layout I used a couple different snowflake punches. I am addicted to these punches, so fun! Here are some close-ups ...

I used gesso on the background to make it appear as if the snow was swirling across the page.

I applied liquid applique to my chipboard alphas. Once heated up, it puffs up and looks like snow! I really wanted to try a snow marker but could not find one in my local crafty stores.

I love the rosettes in the paper snowflake kit that is part of the Winter Twig collection. They are already pre-scored!

I am hosting a scrapping/football party today. My girlfriends are coming to scrap with me while our guys watch the Vikings versus the Packers football game. I am so excited!! GO VIKINGS!!!
