Dad I Love You Beary Much - Lori Whitlock Block Hop

Hello friends! It's blog hop time at Lori Whitlock.

Here is the blog hop order in case you want to start at the top or get lost along the way...

Marcia Dehn-Nix    ( You Are Here !!! )

This adorably cute Bears Father's Day Box Card is perfect for the outdoorsy Dad. This card was created with a combination of cardstock and solid pattern papers from The Magic of Winter and The Magic of Christmas collections. The print and cut feature in Silhouette was used for the sentiment. You could write your own or substitute a stamped sentiment instead if that is not available to you. I used an embossing folder to give the panel sides a woodgrain texture and added distress ink to bring out the texture even more. You can find the Bears Father's Day Box Card here (SVGSilhouette).

My Heart Belongs To Daddy Card Tutorial For Xyron

Hello blogging friends. A special Dad deserves a special Father's Day card, don't you think. Take a look at this handsome card I created for my Dad using the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker and some Xyron Double Sided Tape.

What makes it so special is that glittered heart. It's so easy to add glitter to your die cuts! Let me show you how.

Xyron Products Used:

Other Products Used:
Sizzix Big Kick,
Imaginisce Pattern Paper,
Bazzill cardstock (red, white, black),
Martha Stewart Extra Fine Glitter (red),
Sentiment created on computer using the Maiden Word Condensed and Impact fonts

Directions:

1.   Run a small strip of cardstock through the Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker that loosely matches the glitter you are using.

2.   Peel off the protective film from the top side of the cardstock. Place Heart die on top. Run through your die cut machine. Also die cut 2 bow ties and die cut around your sentiment.

3.   Insert the heart die cuts upside-down into the Xyron 1.5” Sticker Maker.

4.    Peel off the protective film from the top side and insert hearts sticky side down into your glitter.

5.  Assemble the card placing cut pattern paper pieces onto the cardstock base using the Xyron Double Sided Tape.  When you are ready to use your glitter heart just peel off the paper backing and adhere to card.

Tip: Use cardstock the same color as the glitter and the glitter coverage will look better.

Dad - Top Dog Dies Tutorial

Hello blogging friends! Here in Minnesota we are gearing up for the fishing opener. With over 10,000 lakes here you can imagine that this is a big deal. My hubby was sorting through his tackle box to see what he needed and I spotted some lures with feathers on them. I immediately thought of my Top Dog Dies Feather Die Set and thought I could make one of those! Of course I would have to improvise for the hook. With Father's Day looming, I decided to create a card with a fishing theme that I could put my fishing lure on.

I loved what Top Dog Dies guest designer Leigh Penner did with the Top Dog Dies Vest die on one of her cards and decided to do the same for my fishing card. I wanted the vest to look more like a fishing vest though so it needed to have lots of pockets. Kraft cardstock gives it a masculine touch. I also used the Top Dog Dies Typewriter Uppercase set for my simple sentiment. It's the fishing lure that steals the show though.

Supplies:
Top Dog Dies Typewriter Uppercase set
Top Dog Dies Vest die
Top Dog Dies Feather Die Set

Let me show you how you can make a fishing lure too. You will need...

Tim Holtz Memo pins
A long needle nose pliers
Sewing Thread
Scissors
Cardstock
Top Dog Dies Feather Die Set

1. Die cut some feathers. Using the Needle Nose Pliers, bend the end of a memo pin into a hook.

2. Using a medium length feather, tie it to the hook using the tread.

3. Holding the feather end of the memo pin, start wrapping the thread around the pin, adding feathers behind and in front as you wrap.

4. Tie a slip knot to finish. Trim loose thread and paper from hook. A dab of glue on the back side of the string will keep it from unraveling.

Wish us luck on opening day. Thanks for stopping by.

#1 Dad - Love My Tapes Inspiration

Hello blogging friends.  I created a Father's Day card for Love My Tapes that I want to share using 3 different coordinating fabric tapes. If you are unfamiliar with fabric tape, it is strips of fabric with adhesive on one side.  The fabric tapes will give your projects some wonderful texture. Using washi or fabric tape to create a background can be a quick and easy way to create a card. I added some Graphic 45 paper scraps and stickers to finish it off.

Cards with Washi - Love My Tapes!

Hello blogging friends! It's so hard to go back to work after a wonderful 3 day weekend. We attended a Memorial Service yesterday in the cemetery in my home town Rockford MN. Its a small town and not much has changed in the last 30 years since we left. The Rockford High School marching band still plays at the ceremony. The weather was fabulous and the memories even better.

I have a couple of cards to share with you featuring Love My Tapes washi tape. I couldn't help but make a patriotic card for Memorial Day when I saw this blue starred washi tape. It will be great for those 4th of July projects too.

I few strips here and there on the background really jazzed up this card.

I am also starting to think ahead to Father's Day so I made a card for my Dad. He loves to play cards (Euchre and 500 are his games) and a few of the black washi tapes worked wonders to create a background for me. One of these tapes has hearts on it and the other one has crowns. I alternated them on a piece of white cardstock. I then used my Silhouette to cut this diamond overlay from another sheet of cardstock and adhered that over the top of my washi. Trim off the excess on the edges.

Here is how my card turned out ...

I love the look of the washi in the negative space on the background!

Farmhouse Papers Father's Day - ScrapTown Lady inspiration

Happy Monday. I've been sick this past weekend, so no Scraptown Lady layout today. I have a couple Father's Day cards to share with you today that I created with the Farmhouse Market Square collection. This is such a fun vintage collection with some really great embellishments. This first card I made with my husband in mind. He loves old cars.

and the second one I made for my Dad.

This one is my favorite of the two. It reminds me of summer so I am linking it up to the Paper Players challenge: Summer theme.. We actually still have an old fashion drive-in restaurant not too far away. They make the best burgers. Hmmm, maybe my husband and I will have to go there for a date night now that the weather is cooperating.  Check out the Farmhouse papers and embellishments in the store. Cheryl ships fast and you could have them in time to make your own Father's Day cards :)
