Happy Halloween! - Top Dog Dies

I am back today with another Top Dog Dies card from the Fall and Halloween release. I couldn't wait to use this Halloween die set and the Wicked Witch die set! Isn't that spider adorable.

This witch had a little too much of that witch's brew, lol.

I die cut the legs twice, once from orange and once from black. Then I cut the orange into strips to make the striped stockings for my witch. This was easy to do as the die cut indicates where to cut.

A little Wink of Stella Silver makes the spider eyes pop.

Let's Float Away - Top Dog Dies

Hello blogging friends!

I am sharing a card today using the Top Dog Dies Hot Air Balloon die set. It was released this past May. I was so excited to receive this die. I love hot air balloons. I love their bright colors and patterns. There is just something romantic about a hot air balloon, so I decided to make a card for my special guy.... "Let's Float Away"...

I am using an older collection of pattern papers from Basic Grey called "What's Up". My card sentiment is from a sticker sheet from the same collection. This is such a fun collection and I thought of it right away when I first saw these balloon dies. The airplane paper clip is from Webster's Pages. Along with the hot air balloon dies I also used the scalloped dotted border die.

I was inspired by all the colors of the mood board. I think I included all of them on my layout.

I used the latest sketch from Sketchabilities. I have always loved Karan's gorgeous sketches, and sketches are such a great starting point. The thing that I loved about this one was those circles framing the photos. They mimic the circles in that Life is Good journal card, so of course I had to include that too.

The paper is mostly LemonOwl Weekend Trip with some Webster's Pages Nest thrown in there to bring out the orange. I am so in love with the embellishments and add-ons that are hand selected for each month's kit. I LOVE these felt deer from Freckled Fawn, and how fun is this "Hi" paper clip!!

Some gesso painted on the wood word with my finger helps to soften it a little.

This cute little heart flair does not have branches on it, lol. That is a reflection.

I was bound and determined to use this journal card with these cute birds on my layout but I just did not have enough room, so I partially fussy cut out the birds and layered them on top of my photo. One Last Selfie .... Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends! I have been so, so busy in the last week with last minute wedding errands, hauling my hubby to Dr appts after he threw his back out, and trying to work my 9-5. Thankfully hubby was well enough to walk his daughter down the aisle. Well I could not wait to play with my November Clique Kit when all the chaos subsided.

You can see why, right? Look at the gorgeous papers from Lemon Owl and Websters Pages! Plus those awesome embellies. While I am patiently waiting for photos from the wedding photographer, I scrapped this selfie my daughter took of herself and then posted on Facebook and Instagram as I was driving her to the wedding.

I used the latest Creative Scrappers sketch... Perfect for a big title.

This Is How I Will Remember You

Its time for another reveal at Sketchabilities. Just look at Karan's next amazing sketch....

This is my take on it...

This is a layout of my best friend Denise who lost her battle with lung cancer a year ago at the age of 41.  She died of lung cancer and NEVER smoked! As much as I miss her, I know her husband and kids must miss her more. She was an incredible giving person, donating her time to girl scouts, advocating for autism (her son is autistic), and was always there when a friend was in need. She is the reason why I scrapbook. After dragging me to a scrapbook crop night over 10 years ago, I became hooked. This photo was taken on one of our many girl scout adventures at a local amusement park. I have a hidden journaling card that reads,
"The morning that you died, I woke up to this song on my alarm clock radio, I Can See Clearly Now the Rain is Gone and instead of those words I was thinking, I Can Breathe Clearly Now the Pain is Gone. I still cannot hear that song without crying. So this is how I will remember you, before cancer ravaged your body and made you lose your beautiful hair. Even a year after you are gone I still yearn to be with you. I miss you so much"

I used the Webster's Pages Sunday Picnic collection and added a Prima flower and Prima pearl swirls. The tiny roses in the swirls were grey and I used a Copic marker to add the bright pink color. I love the butterflies I made with trailing strands of floss.

 

The carousel horses were stamped with a rubber stamp from Inkadinkado, colored with Copic markers, and then cut out and mounted with foam tape. I used ribbon as the poles for the horses. Torn music note paper was glimmer misted and applied to the background. I wanted to make it seem as if the horses were moving and the music was playing. The horses had glimmer mist applied as well, but that doesn't show up in the photo very well.

Many tears were shed in the making of this layout and I am sure on the anniversary of her death there will be many more. I wanted to celebrate her life and remember the happier times we shared. 

I am excited to say that I will be back on the Sketchabilities design team for another term with this fabulous new team

You Shine

I have been doing just my design team work lately so I told myself this weekend I would create something from my backlog to-do bin. I bought some Webster's Pages Yacht Club last summer knowing I wanted to scrap some pics I had of Naomi and its been sitting in my to-do bin ever since. I saw a sketch at Artful Delight and knew it would be perfect. I finally got around to creating my layout....

I fussy cut the lighthouse, bird, and nautical wheel and added the Yacht Club florettes in my cluster along with some fishnet (compliments of my hubby). LOVE those floretttes. Here is a closeup.

On This Day

Once Upon a Sketch posted a fantastic sketch and it inspired me to scrapbook this wedding photo. I have not scrapbooked any of my wedding photos yet, too busy scrapping photos of my kids! Anyway, here is my layout.

 Don't you love my hat! The Webster's Pages collection had the perfect colors. When I first saw this paper, it made me think of my wedding.

The journaling is a past tense version of what we had on our unity candle and in our programs. I have always loved this quote.

 A little Flower Soft on the background paper gave it a little dimension.

 The roses were made with the Spellbinder's Rose Creations dies. I love making roses with these dies. I can use the same papers from my layout and they will coordinate exactly.

 The lace is leftover from my wedding dress. My mom made my dress and hat as well as all the bridesmaids dresses. She is so talented.

The banner is made from tulle with some additional rose buds.
