October Layout Share - My Creative Scrapbook

Hey everyone. I am so excited to share my layouts created with the October Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This amazing kit featured the Cider & Donuts collection from Simple Stories along with some Echo Park Paper Chipboard. Every month the kit also includes a sketch and digital cut files from the Cut Shoppe. Here's what I created ...

1. Happy Fall Y'All - You have to put some fall leaves on a Fall layout, right? I used some old Cheery Lynn leaf dies to create these leaves from various pattern papers and then I arranged them in a wreath. This background paper is from 49th & Market and is  not included in the kit.

Watch my YouTube process video here...

2. Give Thanks - Photos that express gratitude are perfect for scrapping with the Cider & Donuts collection no matter what time of year they were taken. These are photos of my son and his fiancé after the purchase of their first house!! This layout is based on the monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker

3.  Gather Together - We managed to fry a turkey for Thanksgiving last year and didn't burn the house down! Here is the proof. Our turkey was so delicious! I had extra leaves from my first layout so I decided to use them on this layout creating a border. I think I will turn this into a two-pager by flipping the colors around on the new page (give thanks pattern paper, floral-leaf pattern paper, then solid green pattern paper).

4. Autumn - This layout is all about my love for pumpkin spice coffee.

My Creative Scrapbook puts together 4 kits every month. I used the Main kit for these layouts. Each kit is put together beautifully. There is really something for every kind of scrapbooker! Go check them all out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Thanksgiving Tag Bags - Lori Whitlock

Hello everyone!

Can you believe it's November already and in no time it is going to be Thanksgiving! I wanted to make some treat bags for the little ones attending our Thanksgiving dinner. Lori Whitlock’s 2 on 12x12 Tag Bag Pilgrim (SVGSilhouette) and the 2 on 12x12 Tag Bag Indian  (SVGSilhouettewere just what I was looking for. I used the Echo Park Paper I Love Fall collection to create my tags along with a heavy cardstock for the bag.

Washi tape from the I Love Fall collection lines the bottom of the tags. After piecing my pilgrim and Native American girl together, I used some foam tape to adhere them to the tags. I attached the tags to the bags with some raffia paper ribbon.

Lori has lots of other fun Thanksgiving bags and treat boxes in her shop. Go check them all out

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Give Thanks - Imaginisce and JustNick Studio

Hello blogging friends!

Wow! Only one more week until Thanksgiving here in the USA. This year I have so much to be grateful for. I have a wonderful family including a new son-in-law. We have a beautiful spacious home that we are currently sharing with the newlyweds so they can save up some money to buy their own house. We are all relatively healthy. I decided to scrap a family photo with the festive Imaginisce Give Thanks collection. Since my photo was taken in the fall, I wanted to create a background of colorful leaves with the new JustNick Leaves Background digital cut file. I am thrilled at how it turned out ...

I have to share a close-up of those leaves....

When I was ready to add embellishments, the Die Cuts, Phrase Stickers, Wood Buttons, and Enamel Dots from the Give Thanks collection were perfect! I cut out a few feathers using the JustNick Sweater Weather digital cut file. Aren't they fun!

You can also see I added some texture using the JustNick Positive 2 Background digital file as a stencil and some molding paste.

I used the Imaginisce i-Rock to add some metallic hearts for the finishing touch.

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers, Die Cuts, Wood Buttons, Fall Phrase Stickers, Enamel Dots (Give Thanks), i-Rock, Metallic Hearts
American Crafts: cardstock
Silhouette Cameo
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

Turkey Day Table Decor with Imaginisce

Hello blogging friends. I have a fabulous project today to share with you that I created with my Imaginisce Bushel O' Fall papers. I love decorating for a party! These turkeys are going to look great on my Thanksgiving tables. The Imaginisce Bushel O' Fall pattern papers were a perfect choice. I love those yellow, orange, and reds mixed with a touch of teal blue.

The inspiration for these came from a Minnesota scrapbook store in Pine City.  I saw some of these rosette turkeys while on a girl's outing last Spring and thought to myself... I need to make something similar to that! Here is the Pine City Scrapbook Store version ....

Here are some close-ups of my turkeys ....

These turkeys were easy to make. I created 3 rosettes using 1", 1.25", and 1.5" strips of pattern papers. I used my i-Top punches to cover the middle of the rosette, so it still looks like turkey feathers. Use a small in the front and a large one in the back to cover the hole in the middle. You want them to look nice from a back view too.

WARNING .... Making these is addictive.....

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers (Bushel O'Fall), i-Top, small, large punches, i-Bond Hot Glue Gun
Core'dinations cardstock
Silhouette Cameo (ticket cut file) and I used the Print and Cut feature for the text on the tickets
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Memo Pins
ScorePal Scoreboard

Oh, and those cute little wood veneer leaves are on sale in the Clique Store, just use coupon code Marcia10 to get 10% off :)
and if you happen to be driving by Pine City, Minnesota .... This scrapbook store is well worth a visit!

Saturday Share - Imaginisce

Each Saturday an Imaginisce designer shares a Project Life page. I don't have a life to do Project Life with 3 kids in college but I do like the pages for organizing my vacation photos so that I can share my trip with family and friends quickly. But I took a stab at generating a Thanksgiving Project Life page which of course had to be about this little competition my husband and I have. You see we have a turkey war going on. Each Thanksgiving my husband fries a turkey and I do a traditional oven turkey. The competition, who cooks the tastiest bird. Last year he won, due to a new injectable marinade I tried when I couldn't find any Cajan injectible marinade since my local Gander Mountain closed. My husband's family and my family get together to feast on more than just turkey. It's not Thanksgiving in a Nix house without Grandma Nix's cream peas and its not Thanksgiving in a Dehn house without my sister's pies (made with my Mom's pie crust recipe).  Holidays are great for documenting family traditions. While its important to capture those memories on film, don't forget to document other important family traditions like those coveted recipes passed down from generation to generationI want my kids to have these recipes so that they can carry on with the tradition so I thought why not include them on my Project Life page. I love that my family can celebrate Thanksgiving with both sides of the family, even if it means all (30-40 some people) are at our house.

Because I want to be able to pull the recipes out to use them, I adhered my embellishments on top of the plastic over these pockets. I ran the Project Life Journal Cards through my computer printer to document our families recipes.

The Bushel O' Fall collection is perfect for your Thanksgiving projects. Did you know the journal cards when cut apart are the perfect size for Project Life pages! They are awesome for adding journaling or just embellishing.

Imaginisce Supplies: Pattern paper, Die Cuts, Stickers: Bushel O' Fall;

Thanksgiving - Imaginisce Style

Hello blogging friends. I've been busy getting my Ducks, I mean Turkeys in a row gearing up to host Thanksgiving again at my house. I feed a crowd of friends and relatives. This year I am expecting at least 35 people! My husband and I have a little competition going. Who cooks the best turkey? I do a traditional turkey in the oven and hubby fries a turkey. Oh and there is plenty of pie and even a gluten free pumpkin cheesecake planned. I have some special guests coming that I made these treats for. My brother-in-law Tim has been reciting our Thanksgiving day menu for 2 months now. Maybe the food in his group home is not very good, lol. I think he is going to love getting one of these turkeys to take home with him. The Imaginisce Bushel O' Fall collection is perfect for your Thanksgiving projects too.

I'm an M&M addict, but you could use candy corn or nuts if you wanted.

Imaginisce Supplies: Pattern paper: Bushel O' Fall; Stickers: Childhood Memories
The Twinery: bakers twine, pipe cleaner, google eyes, tulle, tag punch, hole punch, candy

Pattern Perfect cards - Quick Quotes

Hello Quick Quotes friends! Marcia here to host the blog today. I thought it would be fun to make a couple of non-school related cards to showcase how versatile the Pattern Perfect collection is. I am always in need of Thank You cards and Birthday cards, so that is what I created with the help of the Holidays Quotes Bundle. These bundles of quotes are perfect for card making, but you can also use these on your scrapbook pages, even for project life albums!

This first card could be a Thanks for the Hospitality, or even used for a Thanksgiving card.

I played up the colorful papers in this Birthday card for a festive look. The cake is actually 3 dimensional.

Quick Quotes - Helmar Blog Hop

Hello Quick Quotes fans! Happy blog hopping!!
You should have arrived here from the Quick Quotes blog. If not you can start hopping there.

I can't wait to show you what I created with my Helmar 450 quick dry glue and their V2 vellum adhesive spray. Thanksgiving is my holiday and we do it up big here. My husband fries a turkey and I make a second turkey in the oven. That's right, 2 TURKEYS!!!! My husband and I compete to see who can make the better turkey. (BTW, I won last year. Injected my bird with honey BBQ marinade.) We still make all the fixings; mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, dinner rolls, and more. My sister bakes pies including her killer sweet potato pie. My Mother-in-Law brings creamed peas, a Nix tradition and a must at all holidays. I make my infamous pumpkin cheesecake. Everyone brings something (including my bachelor brother who makes a killer spinach dip). There is even Tofurkey for my vegetarian daughter. Besides family and some extended family, we also invite some friends to join us. Leftovers get sent home with everyone, but surprisingly we never have a lot of turkey leftover. People sit wherever they can, but I wanted something special on my main table, so I made this candle centerpiece....
I found these awesome LED candles at my local Costco. They even came with a remote control. Since there is no flame, I could embellish them with paper and not have to worry about fire. There are seven candles total. I used the Cherry Truffle collection from Quick Quotes to create bands around the middle. Here are some close-up of the different candles...
The spoon is part of a chipboard set from Quick Quotes called Let's Eat and is perfect for Thanksgiving! The fork is on a matching candle in the centerpiece. I saved the knive to use later. The chipboard was painter with a pewter crackle paint.

I created a bunch of fall leaves using cardstock scraps. Extra leaves were then scattered on the table.
This vellum quote was cut to fit my Spellbinders label and applied with the Helmar V2 vellum adhesive. I have never tried V2 before and I have to say I am very impressed. It does not show through like some other vellum adhesives and you get edge to edge coverage! Just what a girl needs when wanting something to stick on a curved surface.
Now, I thought maybe I could use these SVG acorns as part of my centerpiece too, but the dimensions just didn't work. They are the perfect treat boxes for my younger nieces and nephews though. I will fill them with candy and my dad will entertain them by hiding them somewhere and leaving clues scattered around the house leading them to their treats. (He loves doing that!)
I loved that Helmar quick dry 450 glue when I assembled these. A glue that dries fast and holds is a must when working on curved surfaces. What glue I got on my fingers came off easily too. I loved the Cherry Truffle paper for these. The top of the acorn was embossed to give it a little more texture. See all the room inside for treats!!!

Quick Quotes Supplies:
Cherry Truffle papers
Let's Eat Bag o' Chips chipboard
Powderpuff chalk inks in Mocha Mama, Amaretto, Mango Mai Tai, Lemonade
I am Thankful for You colored vellum

Other Supplies:
Helmar quick dry 450 glue
Helmar V2 adhesive
burlap  (burlap twine taken from edge of burlap)
Acorn SVGCuts
Core'dinations cardstock
Spellbinders Fancy Tags
Shabby wrinkled ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique Etsy shop.

I hope I inspired you to make some Thanksgiving decor.
