Spread A Little Cheer - Simple Stories

Hello blogging friends!
I am back today with a festive Simple Stories Christmas layout I created with the Merry & Bright Christmas collection. Does your family do a photo shoot for your annual Christmas card? I don't know about you, but I love receiving photo Christmas cards! I like to see how much kids have grown and seeing how other family members have changed. I scrapped my sister-in-law's family for todays layout. I love how her Christmas card photo turned out! I am still hoping to get some family photos done myself, but with adult kids that work odd hours, it might not happen until Christmas! Anyway, every year for Christmas my Mother-in-law asks for the same thing ... a scrapbook album full of family photos. This layout is going into my Mother-in-law's album. The Merry & Bright collection is perfect for documenting all of those holiday family photos!

Is there anyone besides me crushing on all these plaid papers? That black and white buffalo plaid is the perfect background for this poinsettia wreath cut file by Paige Taylor Evans. The wreath frames my family photo nicely.

The cut file was backed with various pattern papers from the Merry & Bright collection. I love how the reds and greens in the pattern papers coordinated so well with the colors in my photo. There was also a soft blue that worked well for the bells and an awesome plaid pattern paper that I used for the bow.

With such an ornate cut file, I kept my other embellishments to a minimum. I just wanted to add a few things around my photo like this fabulous JOY banner and the Peace Love Joy tree from the Tags and Frames pack. That cute candy cane is one of the puffy stickers ... and don't forget to add a date so you'll remember years from now what year that was. The 4x6 sticker packs have the perfect round stickers to do just that.

I wish you the happiest of Holidays.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have an awesome week.

Itasca Headwaters - Jillibean Soup

Hello blogging friends!

One of my families favorite destinations is Itasca State Park in northwestern Minnesota. You might know that already since I have scrapped it a billion times (or close to it, lol). No trip to Itasca is complete without visiting the Mississippi river headwaters. Here the kids (and dogs) attempt to cross the river on the rocks.

I used Jillibean Soup products from the Simple Staples III line as well as the Farmhouse Stew collection. I arranged my photos in a strip so allow as much of the Woodgrain Background digital cut file to show. I LOVE this cut file... and it is so perfect for these photos in the north woods. I created a big statement of a title using the Farmhouse Stew Die Cut Alphas and some stickers.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum ... just a few stickers, including these fabulous puffy sticker butterflies.

Supplies:
Jillibean Soup
Pattern Paper: Farmhouse Stew / Gimme Some Sugar
Pattern Paper: Soup Staples III / Kraft Triangle
Coordinating Stickers:  Farmhouse Stew, Bowl Of Dreams
Letter Die Cuts : Farmhouse Stew
Puffy Stickers:  Farmhouse Stew
Digital Cut Files: Woodgrain Background / Design ID #161767

Other: Core'dinations cardstock, Silhouette Cameo, Brother Sewing Machine, white thread

This was a quick and fun layout. I love how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - Xyron and Craftwell

Hello blogging friends!

Xyron is teaming up with Craftwell all this week and today I get to share what I created with one of their embossing folders. I used the Star folder which will be coming to stores soon, I promise. It's a new release.

Those stars had me thinking....Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, so of course I had to dig out my Graphic 45 Mother Goose collection to see what I could find. Here is the card I created.

I love how it turned out, don't you. Let me show you how I created it.

Supplies you will need:
Xyron new Creative Station with 9" and 5" permanent adhesive
Xyron Mega Runner
Xyron Adhesive Dots
Craftwell Stars Embossing Folder
Pattern Paper
Core'dinations Cardstock
Big Kick or other machine for embossing
Distressing Tool
twine
button
scissors
paper trimmer

Step 1.  Trim down a piece of cardstock the width of your embossing folder and run it through your embossing machine.

Step 2. Use a distressing tool to sand the raised stars, allowing the core color to show.

Step 3. Cut a piece of pattern paper slightly larger that the embossed cardstock. Run both pieces through the new Xyron 9" Creative Station. Adhere the embossed cardstock on top of the pattern paper.

Step 4. Die cut a pennant flag. I use washi tape to hold my die in place. This is especially helpful with pattern paper like this, so I can be sure to get everything straight.

Step 5. Trim the journal card with the little boy looking out the window. Since there were two, I took the second one and fussy cut just the boy and the blanket out.

Step 6. I like dimension, so I adhered the boy on top of the journal card using foam squares and then adhered him to my card with foam squares also. I used my Xyron Mega Runner to adhere the flag in the upper left.

Switch out the 9" adhesive for the 5" adhesive. It is so easy to do. Open the top, pull out the 9" roll, flip up the green 5" guide, pop in the 5" roll, and close the lid. Easy Peasy.

Step 7. Run the card front through the Xyron Creative Station with the 5" adhesive roll in place and mount to card base.

Step 8. Tie a bow with some twine. This is my secret to creating the perfect bow; it's a Bow-Easy. Add a button to the middle of the bow.

Step 9. Adhere the bow and button using Xyron adhesive dots. Don't touch the adhesive dot, but instead set the backside of the bow on top of the dot, then pull gently off.

Step 10. Adhere a chipboard flag on top of the other flag using the same adhesive dots.

Thanks for stopping by, Go check out the Xyron and Craftwell Facebook pages all week long to see more inspiration.

Winter Fun with Xyron, Core'dinations, and Petaloo

Welcome to the Xyron, Core'dinations, and Petaloo Blog Hop!

There is tons of inspiration and even prizes to win, so be sure to stop by the participating blogs all week long.

I had in mind originally to make cards using the Crate Paper Bundled Up collection as the colors went so well with those gorgeous Petaloo flowers and ribbons I received. I paired it with some Core'dinations Whitewash cardstock....

I scored the edges of my card after dry embossing some snowflakes on the edges. Core'dinations cardstock is my favorite cardstock to use when embossing. Here is a close-up of that embossing.

Supplies:
Xyron Mega Runner
Xyron 3/16" Adhesive Dots

Teresa Collins Plier Stapler
Core'dinations Whitewash collection

Core'dinations Dust Buddy & Sand-it Gadget
Petaloo Holiday Dazzlers Jewelled Florettes
Petaloo Fancy Trims Shades of Pink

Crate Paper Bundled Up pattern papers, ephemera die cuts, and PL cards
Sizzix Embossing folder

Then, I got to thinking how great a mini album would look instead of a card. I would have a larger area to work with for more embossing and room to showcase more flowers and ribbons. So here is the cover to my mini album I created ...

I love using my Xyron 9" Creative Station for adhering pages in my mini. No need to worry about pages coming undone later and with the Creative Station I get edge to edge coverage! It comes in handy for those smaller embellishments too...

I used the same technique as on my card to dry emboss and then score the edge. I just love the texture of the embossed trees and with Kraft core they really stand out.

There is some Petaloo Fancy Trim tucked in there as well as tied on my rings binding my album. I added lots more Dazzlers jewelled florettes and some gorgeous Darjeeling flowers. Xyron adhesive dots work great for adhering all those flowers!

Back To School Treats with Pebbles and Xyron!

Hello blogging friends! Are your kiddos back in school yet? I think these treat bags will get some smiles from them and maybe homework won't look so bad after a snack :)

Xyron is teaming up with Pebbles and I got to play with the new Back To School collection. This collection rocks with its primary colors, fun patterns, and reward stickers. I found this treat bag topper by Lori Whitlock in the Silhouette store and couldn't resist. That owl is so cute!

When die cutting small shapes, How many of you end up losing the smaller pieces? I used to lose them all the time!!  I have a solution for you...

Run your small shapes through your Xyron Sticker Maker or Create-a-Sticker machine as soon as you are finished cutting them. I take them directly off my cutting mat and place them in my Xyron Create-a-Sticker machine. Now, no more lost dots to those i's or other small pieces.

Supplies:
Pebbles Back to School papers and stickers
Xyron 2.5" Create-a-Sticker machine
Xyron Mega Runner
Teresa Collins Plier Stapler
Core'dinations cardstock

Imaginisce Team:

I got to play with the Core'dinations Kraft Core cardstock. I love Core'dinations cardstock. It's perfect for embossing and distressing so that's what I did with my layout. The embossing folder I have is small, but after embossing one side of my cardstock strip, I turned if around to do the other side. My photos cleverly hide the seam between the top and bottom. Sanding the top gives it a two tone effect so it looks like real tree bark. I teamed it up the Kraft core cardstock with the Imaginisce Outdoor Adventure collection ...

This is my daughter Colette in the middle ( yes, my daughter who was always the dirtiest kid on the playground when I picked her up after school. ) At 20 she still enjoys rolling in mud! This was for a good cause though. She was raising $$ for Breast Cancer. I had a lot of fun slinging mud ( I mean paint ) on my layout. I even dripped paint so it looks like the mud is dripping off the photos.

I have discovered Chic Tags. These are fabulous. I used this one to hide my journaling on and tucked it behind my photo.

So leave a comment to be eligable for a prize, then hop on over to Apryl Holland http://onescrappysoul.blogspot.com

Thanks for stopping by :)
