Welcome Fall - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

So happy to be back today with some Fall inspiration from JustNick Studios. I love everything about Fall; the cooler weather, the gorgeous leaves turning red, orange, and yellow, warm comfy sweaters, and pumpkin spice coffee. There are some awesome new cut files in the store to help you document your Fall memories. I used the Leaf Cluster 2 on this layout.

I backed the negative space behind the flower and the leaves with assorted pattern papers, making sure to get a good mix of red, orange and yellow. 6x6 paper pads are great for backing cut files with their smaller patterns. I love how pretty it turned out. It looks fabulous on my mixed media background. Here are a few detailed shots ...

Here is the cut file I used today ...

I even made a YouTube Process Video for my layout. I would love to have you stop by and watch. If you like what you see, I would love for you to subscribe to my channel.

Bloom & Grow - Stash Bash YouTube Hop

Hello blogging friends!

I have a new Stash Bash layout to share with you today. The March Stash Bash YouTube Hop features ways to use your wood veneer pieces. Each month a group of my scrappy friends pick an item in our stash and we each create a YouTube scrapbook process video using that item. I wanted to put a fresh spin on my wood veneer, adding a little glitz with some gold glitter embossing powder and VersaMark ink. Here is how they turned out...

For my layout today, I am using a variety of Maggie Holmes Crate Paper collections, predominantly Styleboard and this gorgeous Lotus Background digital cut file from JustNick Studios.

Here is how my layout turned out ...

The sculpture in this photograph is a lego dragonfly. I was created by artist Sean Kenney and is part of a traveling display called Nature Connects. There were about 12 different lego sculptures all around the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. We walked from garden to garden to find all of them. Truly Amazing!

Here are some close-ups for you to see..,.

Autumn Beauty - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with an Autumn layout using some of the newest JustNick digital cut files. There are so many fabulous files to choose from for your Fall photos. I absolutely adore all the new circle frames. Today I am using the Autumn Ring , Leaves, and Leaf It To Me. They were perfect to showcase this senior photo of my niece. I used the gorgeous new Simple Stories Hello Fall collection.

I went a little crazy with the mixed media on this one, lol. I wanted to extend the colors from the photo onto the layout, mixing in some paper leaves around that beautiful frame. I picked up these awesome flair buttons from the A Flair For Buttons Etsy shop last year and didn't get a chance to use them all. Here are some close-ups...

Here are those cut files I used ...

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out all the awesome new cut files in the JustNick Studio store.

You Are My Sun, My Moon, & All Of My Stars - Cocoa Vanilla Studios and Faber-Castell

Hello blogging friends!

Today, I am so excited to share a fun Cocoa Vanilla Studios Colour Me Happy layout with you today where I played with my Faber-Castell gelatos to create a bright mixed media background. My inspiration for this layout was this cut apart card with a quote I absolutely love; "You Are My Sun, My Moon, & All Of My Stars". I have really been enamored with using suns and or sunshine on my layouts lately. It is finally Spring in the USA where I live and after a long winter I am enjoying the sun! Here is my layout...

  YouAreSunMoonAllMyStars

I used a very simple technique to achieve my background. First paint gesso where you want to blend your Faber-Castell gelato colors. Once it is dry, pick out three or four colors. I went with 2 shades of yellow and 2 shades of orange on my layout. Then just scribble color over the gesso. You seriously don't need much. Wet your finger and spread the color where you want it blending with the other colors. I like using my finger because you really don't need much water. A paint brush holds too much water which might cause your paper to curl more. Want more color? then just add more scribbles and blend some more. The color is vibrant and it is so fun to see how beautiful the result is. After my color was applied, I used an embossing paste and a stencil to add the stars over the top.

These awesome encouraging words of tiny text are also from the Colour Me Happy Cut Aparts.

I played up the sun, moons, and stars on my layout. I created a stitched garland with little suns and moons and added a lot of star sequins from the Tis The Season collection.

I did a little fussy cutting too with some of the floral pattern paper and layered one of the awesome Colour Me Happy flair buttons on top.

Hello

I hope you will give this technique a try with some Cocoa Vanilla Studios Colour Me Happy and Faber-Castell gelatos. It is quick and easy, but most of all it is so fun!!

Happy Day - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with some Cocoa Vanilla Studios Colour Me Happy inspiration. Have you seen this bright, fun collection yet? Lots of black and white patterns and vibrant colors. I decided to scrap a photo of my daughter that I took last weekend at her white coat ceremony. Just look at these beautiful tulips ... and they matched her dress perfectly! I couldn't wait to play with my mixed media supplies to add some color. I decided to keep to a warm color scheme, using the yellows, oranges, and pinks from the collection and I used my Design Memory Craft Faber Castell gelatos to create a fun ombre background. Take a look ...

There is lots to love in the Colour Me Happy collection; like these new gorgeous gold doilies and paper flowers and leaves as well as your favorite coordinating flair and enamel dots.

Another new item is the wood veneer words. These are great for creating titles. I painted mine with gesso and then used my mango gelato to add some color. I completed my title using the black alpha stickers also from the Colour Me Happy collection.

I choose to fussy cut some of the floral patterns. I scattered some of the smaller flowers across my background. It was fun to add color to the larger flowers using my gelatos and tuck them under my background paper.

  FussyCutDetail

I really love how my ombre background turned out. I created a little texture with modeling paste and a Crafter's Workshop stencil. I used some of the cut aparts to add journal details along the side. This fun "Be Bold, Be Bright, Be You" card is perfect to go along with my bright photo.

I hope I inspired you to try a few new techiniques. Check out all of the Colour Me Happy collection now available in the Cocoa Vanilla Studios store. Zoe will ship to the USA! so if you are wanting to try out this new collection be sure to have a look.

Scribbly Bird Card - Xyron and Faber-Castell

Hello blogging friends!

I spent my weekend playing with my Xyron adhesives and some Design Memory Craft Faber-Castell Gelatos at a crop with some friends. Oh my, what fun these are to play with! Take a look at a card I created using a Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds stamp set.

It's a simple card, but I really wanted the bird to take center stage so I left the background white. If you have never tried Gelatos before, don't be intimidated. They are super easy to use. Let me show you ...

Supplies:
Xyron 3" Sticker Maker
Xyron 3/16 Adhesive Dots
Design Memory Craft Faber-Castell Gelatos
Bazzill Smooth White Cardstock
Gesso
Black Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink
StazOn Ink
Heat Tool
Twine
Dina Wakley Scribbly Birds stamp set

Step 1. Prep your paper by applying a layer of Gesso. When it is dry, stamp your image and or sentiment with Versamark ink. Emboss using a black embossing powder.

Step 2. Choose your Gelato colors and apply to paper. Blend with a piece of foam or a sponge. I blended mine dry, but you could use a little water if you like.

I fussy cut this guy out, but you could also color the entire background. Like this...

Step 3.  Since I was at a crop, I brought along this handy Xyron 3" Sticker Maker. I love that I can still take my Xyron adhesives with me and pack light. I just popped my bird through.

Step 4. I stamped a sentiment on a plain white cardbase with StazOn Ink and adhered my bird next to it.

Step 5. Tie some twine around the top of the card. You can make sure the bow stays put with a little Xyron adhesive dot.

I just love how this card turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to watch for more Xyron and Design Memory Craft projects all week long.
