Happy Glamping - Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

The DT coordinator over at Pebbles asked the designers if we like to create home decor or papercraft items. Of course I said yes! I even suggested I could make a camper (using the SVGcuts Camp Firefly cut files). Well that led to Jen Hadfield (yes, the Jen Hadfield!) asking if I could put the camper inside a wreath! Who knew people did this? I had to look on Pinterest for examples. Well now I am guest designing for Jen Hadfield! Here is the post I sent her...

The warmer weather has my family thinking about future camping trips. We love to pack up the car and drive to one of our favorite camping spots ... or even to explore a new place. With the glamping craze, I thought maybe I should be decorating our camper ... so I decided I needed to make a wreath for the camper door. Here is what I came up with.

This wreath was super easy to make. It took 2.5 rolls of burlap and maybe 15 minutes! Here is a tutorial I found on YouTube to explain how to create this beautiful ruffle wreath. Well then I had to think about how to decorate my wreath. I found a svg design for the camper from SVGcuts. It's a 3 dimensional camper complete with a lawn flamingo in the front! I made my camper using pattern papers from Jen Hadfield's Chasing Adventures collection. The hiking girl standing in front is an extra nice touch...don't you think?

Next I had to figure out how to attach the camper to the wreath. Since the camper is make out of paper I didn't want to use wire and chance ripping the camper. I finally opted to glue the camper to a blackboard sign. Of course this left me space on the sign I had to decorate with vinyl. I found the cutest Happy Camper cut file in the Silhouette store. I love the trees and mountain scenery behind the camper.

The blackboard sign hangs from a wire at the top of my wreath. I also added a pretty pink bow too.

I love how this turned out. It will be so fun to see people's reactions when they see this beauty on our camper door!

Autumn Blessings Fall Wreath Decor - Imaginisce and Top Dog Dies

It's definitely feeling like Fall in Minnesota already! The weather is cooler and I've had a hankering to do some Fall decorating. I decided my front door needed a new wreath. I love the look of burlap wreaths and decided to give it a go and make one myself, This was much easier than I anticipated. There are some great YouTube videos out there to show you how. This one I made took a couple of hours. Then I created a Fall banner with my Top Dog Dies the new Imaginisce Give Thanks collection to adorn my wreath. 

The banner was created with my Top Dog Dies Vintage A2 Mat die folded over a length of hemp twine. Then embellished with the Top Dog Dies Vintage Alphabet, Heart Mini Album Finishers, the new Pocket Page Fall die set, and embellishments from the Give Thanks collection. I love all the coordinating embellishments for this collection; the dimensional stickers, phrase stickers, puffy stickers, enamel dots, die cuts, and wood buttons. 

I used my i-Rock gem setting tool to adhere some metallic studs to my banner. I love the polished look the i-Rock gives any project. 

Some ribbon and fall foliage picks finish it off. I love crafting with ribbon. The i-Magicut Ribbon cutter is one of my favorite tools. It cuts and seals the edge of the ribbon all at the same time. Here is a tip to get a notched edge like I did for my wreath. Fold your ribbon in half before inserting into the cutter, angling the ribbon so the folded edge has more to cut away. 

 

 

Use a piece of hemp twine to tie the ribbon and fall picks onto the wreath.

It's a Boo-tiful Wreath - Imaginisce style

Hello blogging friends! I love decorating for Halloween. It's such a fun holiday. My kids are too old, but I love seeing my neighbor kids dressed up in their costumes. This year my dog Satchel is going to be dressed as a bug. The kids get such a kick out of seeing him all dressed up too. He likes to help me answer the door so he can say Hi. :) 

I was dying to make a Halloween wreath this year after seeing some really spooktacular ones last year. Here is what I came up with ....

I just love how it turned out!  This picture doesn't do it justice. Let me show you some close-ups ...

Imaginisce tools make it so easy. I used my CutBright rotary cutter to cut the tulle into strips. and the i-Bond cordless glue gun to make sure everything was secure.

The tulle strips were cut 6" x 15" and then folded lengthwise in half, then folded in half again. The strips are then tied around a styrofoam wreath that I painted black. Then it was ready for embellishing. I attached my bow and picks using wire, but to make sure they wouldn't slide, I used my i_Bond cordless glue gun. The raven and skull were also glued on with the i_Bond. I love that this glue gun is cordless! 

I created my Boo Banner using papers from the Black Ice and Bushel O' Fall collections and some cardstock and strung it together using some Twinery bakers twine.  My i-Rock and some metallic hot rocks give my Boo banner some elegance. 

It really helped to tie it together with the bow and picks I selected. They matched perfectly! i_Rock hot rocks and gems come in so many different colors that there is sure to be one to coordinate with your projects.

Welcome Easter Wreath - Imaginisce i-Top project

I LOVE the Imaginisce i-Top tool so I was excited to hear we were suppose to create a button project using it. I finally decided on an Easter Wreath that I could hang on my door. I have seen lots of these tulle wreaths being made around Halloween and knew I wanted to try to make one. It you can tie your shoes, you can make this wreath. Yes, it is that easy, and Imaginisce tools can make it even easier for you!

Tutorial
You will need a small styrofoam wreath (mine was 10" in diameter. It will look bigger once the tulle is tied on)
2 yards of tulle
flowers
ribbon
Easter picks

i-Top and medium buttons

1. Cut the tulle into 6" wide strips. Then cut the strips into 12" lengths. I used my Imaginisce CutBright Rotary Cutter and CutRight Acrylic Ruler to cut my strips in no time at all.

2. Fold the strips in half lengthwise, and then fold in half again. (Your strip is now 1 1/2" x 12") Tie around wreath using any knot you want. Tie the other strips on in the same way, pushing the strips together on the wreath until you are happy with its fullness.

3. Now we are ready to decorate it. I wanted to repurpose these flowers, so we are going to cut the stems off and pull them apart. This way we can use an i-top button in the middle and make attaching the flowers to the wreath a breeze.

4. I love the nubby texture of canvas and thought it would work great as the center of my flowers. Using the medium i-top template, I traced the shape and cut it out. I was concerned that it might be too bulky if I had just cut a circle.

5. Now we can dye the canvas using our yellow spray ink. My ink unfortunately is clogged, so I placed my canvas pieces in an embossing tray, and dab on the ink with the plastic tube from the ink bottle. Then I wanted to add some orange ink just around the edges. I find this method less messy then spraying when I want total coverage.

6. When the canvas is dry, you can use the i-Top tool to cover the medium buttons.

7. If your flowers do not have a hole in them, we are going to punch one. Don't worry, Imaginisce has a tool for that too, the i-Punch! What I love about the i-Punch is that it has different hole size punches all on the same tool, and you don't need separate tools for different size holes.

8. We are ready to attach our flowers to the wreath. Cut a length of wire that is long enough to wrap around the wreath. Thread the wire through the hole from the bottom of the flower, through the shank of the button and back down the hole.

9. Slide the tulle apart and wrap the wire around to the back side of the wreath. Twist the wire tight. Then I poked the ends of the wire into the styrofoam wreath to keep them from ripping the tulle. Slide the tulle back over the wire.

10. After the flowers are attached, add a bow using a length of wire too. If you are making your own bow - Imaginisce has a tool for cutting the ribbon! I used the i-Magicut Ribbon cutter on the ends of my bow, even though this ribbon is edged with wire. It doesn't cut the wire in the ribbon, but it will cut the ribbon and seal the edges. I then cut the wire with my scissors. If your ribbon is wrinkled, the i-Rock Mini Iron is perfect for ironing that ribbon. I love that it is small enough to take with me on crops!
11. Add a few Easter picks and your wreath is complete.
