April Layout Share - My Creative Scrapbook

  Hello friends.

The beautiful My Creative Scrapbook April Main Kit featured the Making The Best Of It collection from Pinkfresh Studios. While the colors are spring like, this kit is versatile enough for every day and vacation photos as you will see.

Let me show you what I made...

1.  Sharing This Beautiful Story - I cut this scallop pattern paper all apart and arranged it into a heart which framed my photo perfectly. Watch my YouTube process video to see how you can adhere the vellum floral ephemera bits down without the glue showing through,

2. LOVE, I Want To Be Everywhere With You - My daughter recently went to Costa Rica  for a friend's destination wedding. I couldn't help but scrap this gorgeous photo of her and her boyfriend. Again, I cut a sheet of chevron pattern paper all apart and rearranged it to frame my photo. Lots and lots of machine stitching on this one!

3. This Was Meant To Be - Another layout documenting my newest grand fur baby's gotcha day. I used the April monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker.

4. Spring Is In The Air - I couldn't help but use this gorgeous cut file from The Cut Shoppe that was included with the April kit subscription. I backed the cut file with one of the pattern  papers from the Making The Best Of It collection. The mixed media background sheet is from 49th and Market that came from my stash. Aren't these the cutest pics of my grandson enjoying a ride in a swing?

My Creative Scrapbook puts together 4 kits every month. I used the Main kit. Each kit is put together beautifully. There is really something for every kind of scrapbooker! Go check them all out.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy Spring

 Hello friends!

I have another layout to share that I created with my March Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring the gorgeous Pinkfresh Studios Spring Vibes collection. I’m using a cut file from PearTree Cut Files that is included with a kit subscription. I created a library pocket with a new die from Sizzix. It was perfect for holding my journaling and a cute tag. I layered it on top of a heart die from My Favorite Things. This is a photo of my daughter living in Denver. She couldn’t make it home for Easter last year and sent me this selfie with her dog. So cute with the Snapchat filter.

I am linking it up to the March Pinkfresh Studios monthly challenge which is to use layers and the color palette in the below photo.

Remember This Moment

 Hello friends!

I have another layout to share that I created with my March Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring the gorgeous Pinkfresh Studios Spring Vibes collection. I am still working my way through the maternity photos I took of my son and his girlfriend. They were expecting a boy, thus the blue background.

My layout is based on the monthly sketch by Laura Whitaker for My Creative Scrapbook.

You can see detailed photos and here all about my process by watching my YouTube video.

Walking Through The Daisies

 Hello friends!

I was so excited to see that the March Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook was full of the Pinkfresh Studios Spring Vibes collection. It was just what I needed right now when winter here in Minnesota doesn't seem to want to end. Here is the first layout I created with my kit.

You can watch my process video here as well as see close-ups of the layout...

This layout was lots of fun to create with it's mixed media background and layers upon layers of pattern papers. I am linking it up to the March Pinkfresh Studios monthly challenge which is to use layers and the color palette in the below photo.

Easter Baskets - Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

I wanted to share a DIY Spring Easter basket idea that you can create with beautiful pattern papers from the Pebbles Hey, Hello collection. I am using the Easter Egg Hunt digital cut file from SVGcuts. There are lots of gorgeous floral papers perfect for Spring to choose come.

This would be a perfect craft to do with your children while they are home. Pick a favorite color cardstock and floral pattern paper combination, like this pretty teal floral with eggs from the Hey, Hello collection.

Or a pretty pink ...

Tie some raffia ribbon to the handle for a feminine touch.

Or is blue your favorite color? I love the little birds and flower pattern on this beautiful paper.

Which floral pattern would you choose? Wishing you all health and safety in these trying times.

Supplies:
Pebbles – Hey, Hello – 12 x 12 Paper Pad
Pebbles – Hey, Hello – 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Nesting
Pebbles – Hey, Hello - 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Thinking Of You
Pebbles – Hey, Hello – 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Birdies

Dandelion Wishes - PageMaps

Hello blogging friends!

I know National Scrapbook Day was a few weeks ago ... but I am trying to catch up on my blogging after being sick for a few weeks. Becky Fleck from PageMaps asked me to be a guest designer for May with some special sketches for National Scrapbook Day. I love working with Becky's sketches. Here is the awesome one she sent me...

I found a beautiful cut file in the Silhouette store that I was dying to use. It's called Dandelion Wishes and is from Jillibean Soup. I used the Spoonful of Soul collection, also from Jillibean Soup to create my layout and I had the sweetest photos to scrap.

I did some computer journaling and double cut my title to give it a shadow effect. For the wishes portion of my title, I used alpha stickers and stitched over the top to give it some texture. I love the dandelion sticker I placed behind my title.

I pulled out an old border punch to create an interesting contrast with a striped pattern paper over the top of this gorgeous floral pattern paper and beautiful blue pattern paper. I added some stickers to the bottom right of my photo to correlate with the sketch.

The cut file backed in white creates quite a contrast against the blue pattern paper. I used markers to color in the dandelions and added a few splatters of white spray mist.

The photos were mounted using foam adhesive for dimension. I just love how this layout turned out!

Be sure to check out the other PageMaps sketches for May.

Bloom - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have a fun Spring mixed media layout to share with you that I created using some new JustNick Studios digital cut files. I am in dire need of warmer weather. We got snow dumped on us again a few days ago... it still hasn't melted either. So I decided to create my own sunshine in my scrapbook room on this layout. I used Vicki Boutin's Kaleidoscope and Field Notes collections along with some Jillibean Soup Rainbow Roux.

I had a lot of fun creating a rainbow mixed media background using Vicki Boutin's Art Crayons. They coordinate so well with the papers I used to back the flowers in the beautiful Spring Floral Cluster 3 digital cut file. Isn't this floral cluster amazing!

For my title, I used the new Bloom digital cut file. It was perfect to coordinate with  my Spring floral cluster.

There is just something about a mixed media background that makes a cut file pop! If you want to see how I made this layout, here is the process video...

Here are the digital cut files I used today...

I hope you are enjoying some warm Spring weather. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your week!

Easter Egg Fights - Pebbles

Hello blogging friends!

I am sharing an Easter layout with you today created with the Pebble's Loves Me collection as well as the Chasing Adventures collection. I love the floral patterns in the Loves Me collection. They work perfectly for Spring projects too. It's definitely not just another Valentine's Day collection. I wanted to use green pattern paper too though. In Spring everything becomes green again. I found just what I needed in the Chasing Adventures collection; a light green polka dot pattern as well as a darker green plaid pattern. I used the pattern papers to fill in the negative space in a gorgeous floral cut file as well as the inside of my alphas in my title.

When my extended family gathers for Easter, it's a tradition for us to hold an Easter egg fight tournament. I created a large EASTER title to span my page. Then I used a script font to complete the title. I love combining fonts to make my titles more interesting and dramatic. I added a bird from the Loves Me ephemera pack and a few punched butterflies as well.

Backing cut files with pattern papers is a fabulous way to use up paper scraps. I added some foam tape behind the cut file to pop it up from the background paper.

What a beautiful way to use scraps, don't you think! Have a great week.

Supplies:
Pebbles Chasing Adventures 12×12 Paper Pad
Pebbles Loves Me – Papers
Pebbles Loves Me – Stickers
Pebbles Loves Me – Die Cuts
Sticky Thumb Adhesive Foam Dots
Smooth Cardstock White

In My Easter Bonnet | Marcia Dehn-Nix

Hello blogging friends!

Today I am sharing some Easter inspiration using some of the new JustNick Studio Spring digital cut files available in the store. I love using flower cut files especially on my girly layouts. This one features one of my daughters in her Easter bonnet (from a long time ago).

You can never go wrong with a circle design. I applied some gesso and spray mist to my pattern paper to help set off the flowers and Leaf Wreath. To add dimension to the Build A Flower 1 florals, I inked the edges and then bent the petals upwards before assembing them.

I am in love with these airy Spring Florals. Here too I inked the edges as well as the middle of the flowers. Then I added a contrasting button in the middle. So pretty!

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend!
