Summer Yummy - My Creative Scrapbook

Hello blogging friends!

I am sharing my first layout with the July Main kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This awesome kit features the Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse collection. For my first layout, I wanted to use the large SUMMER title cut file from Paige Evans. This was one she was giving away for FREE in her Facebook group called Happy Scrappy Place. Ask to join the group and you too will have access to her FREE cut files and more. With this cut file I could use lots of the different pattern papers. Because of the watermelon pattern paper I decided to scrap some photos of my son enjoying some watermelon when he was about 2 years old. Here is my layout...
\

Now that background paper is a mixed media sheet from the Vicki Boutin Let's Wander Mixed Media Pad. I LOVE these mixed media sheets! This one in real life is green not yellow. I could not get the color right. Go figure ... the rest of the colors on the layout are fine. I elevated the title using some foam tape. My photos went over the hyphens that were part of the cut file.

I added embellishments right on top of the cut file to draw the eye from one photo to the other photo.

Chipboard stickers as well as cardstock stickers were included in the kit so there are plenty of options for embellishments. I love to create layers of embellishments.

Also included in the kit were the foam titles that coordinate with the Summer Farmhouse collection. I added YUMMY here just below the cut file where it would stand out.

I had so much fun making this layout! Stay tuned ... I have 3 more layouts that I created with this kit coming. I hope you are finding some time to enjoy your summer too. Stay healthy and safe.

Downhill Racers - Simple Stories

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with a fun Winter layout I created with the Simple Stories Freezin' Season collection. I live in Minnesota, so am all too familiar with snow ... and cold. Some days you just need to get outside and play though or that cabin fever sets in. One of my favorite outdoor winter activities is sledding. All you need is a hill and a sled. The bigger the hill the better. I love the adrenaline rush you get as you are hurtling downhill with the wind in your face. It was so fun seeing my nephew enjoying sledding too.

I knew I wanted to create hills of snow on my layout. I used various pattern papers to achieve this and cut them in curves to resemble hills. Then I embellished my hills with an adorable snowman, a penguin, a polar bear, and a village of houses. It was fun layering the bits and pieces words "brrrr', "shiver", and "chilly" along with other fun elements.

When sledding, you start at the top of the hill ... so I wanted to arrange my photos at the top of my page. Tucked in an around my photos are another cute snowman, some snowflakes and phrase stickers, and a bits and pieces tree (because you got to watch out for those trees when sledding!).

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you get a chance to get out and play in the snow! Don't forget your camera so you can document those moments with the Freezin' Season collection.

Spooky Sweet - Simple Stories

Hello blogging friends!

I hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween! Did you get some great photos of your little monsters? The Simple Stories Simple Vintage Halloween collection is perfect for those Halloween photos ... but it can also be used to document your Day of the Dead celebrations too. My little nephew got his face painted for the occasion and I thought I would scrap it with a big sugar skull from the Silhouette store. I backed the sugar skull digital cut file from Paige Evans with lots of different pattern papers from the Vintage Halloween collection.

One of the things I love about this collection is the layering of elements on the stickers and pattern papers. It makes it easy to scrap, but it looks like you spent hours. You can see buttons, doilies, and brads ... but on a sticker or on paper, they add no bulk to your layout.

I used the Spooky Sweet die cut for my title, and layered lots more bits and pieces die cuts, chipboard, and stickers around it. This collection has some awesome washi tape. You can see it near the top and bottom of my layout. I think the one with the pumpkin faces is my favorite.

Here is a closer look at the sugar skull...

My Greatest Blessings Call Me Mom - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with a layout about my three greatest blessings. The most important and rewarding job I have is being a Mom to my kids. Let me tell you though, it hasn't been easy! I sometimes wish they were little again. Patching up skinned knees is way easier than helping patch a broken heart ... or sitting by a hospital bedside after a car accident. But love binds us together and I know I can get through anything with my kids by my side. So to celebrate Mom's week at JustNick Studios, I decided to scrap a recent photo of my kids with me from a recent camping trip at our favorite spot, Itasca.

I used the Mom digital cut file for the 'MOM' part of my title and alpha stickers for the rest. I love the little flowers and sprigs of leaves welded to the letters. It suits my outdoor photo. I backed the flowers with some pattern paper and then added some enamel dots for dimension.

I created clusters of embellishments on both sides of my photo. To reinforce the outdoor theme I cut some stems from the Stems 4 digital cut file to add to those clusters.

Here are the digital cut files I used today ...

Here is the link to my process video if you are interested...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week and for you Mom's, I hope your Mother's Day is fabulous.

Mickey Mouse - Magical Memories YouTube Hop and Giveaway

Hello blogging friends!

I am so excited to be participating in a YouTube Hop with my friend Christine Meyer. I am her guest YouTuber ( Is that a word?, lol) today. She is doing a week long series of Disney Scrapbook Layout inspiration and has lots of awesome ideas, so be sure to check out her series.

I used the Simple Stories Say Cheese 3 collection for my layout. Here it is...

It's been 20 years since we were at Disney World! Sorry if the photos look a little dated. My kids really enjoyed the character breakfasts and it sure beat waiting in line to see them. I created the Mickey ears cut file by welding 2 small circles onto one slightly larger one. Then I added some red cardstock to the bottom half and the cutest tiny yellow buttons. The design mimics the paper clip I used just above the rightmost photo.

That filmstrip cut file is FREE in the Paper Issues on-line store. It's called Life In Pictures. They have a great collection of cut files ... all absolutely FREE. Be sure to check them all out.

I love the washi tape in this collection as well. It's great for creating layers. There are lots of fun stickers too and those decorative brads 😍😍😍.

You are going to want to watch my YouTube Video ... I am giving away a $20 gift certificate to the Paper Issues on-line store to one of my YouTube followers! Just my way of saying Thanks for all the support and encouragement. I really do appreciate it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great rest of the week.

Hello Spring - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today kicking off a week of  JustNick Studio Spring inspiration. When I think of Spring I think of Sunshine and Flowers. Two things that after a long cold and snowy winter are like a breath of fresh air. So my layout today features sunshine and flowers ...

I started off by creating my background, using the Let It Shine Background digital cut file as a stencil to create my sun rays. Some stitching on the rays adds some definition and texture.

I add a little green to the bottom of my layout background for grass. A perfect setting for those Delicate Florals...

When it came time to choose a title, I could not resist using the new Hello Spring cut file. I backed the title with some of the same papers as I used for the flowers.

I am so happy with how this layout came together.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

If you are interested in watching my process video, here it is...

I hope I brought some sunshine to you on your Monday. Have a great week!

Petting Zoo Mini Album - Imaginisce

Hello blogging friends!

With school out for the summer I bet a lot of you have road trips planned! I thought it would be fun to put some of my favorite photos together in a mini album. The Heartland Farm collection is perfect for these photos of my kids at a petting zoo. It's always the little goats my kids are drawn too. They just love to feed those baby goats! I started out by covering some boxboard with different pattern papers, adding my photos and some die-cuts and stickers to embellish.

I just love the expression on my son's face in this photo.

This mini album has a couple ring binders keeping the pages together. My i-Magicut Ribbon cutter came in handy for cutting an assortment of ribbons for me to tie around the rings. The i-Magicut Ribbon cutter cuts and seals the edge at the same time and it is so easy to use. Open up the i-Magicut and set your ribbon across the platform. After closing the i-Magicut, you just need to press and hold this button for 5-10 seconds (depending on the thickness of your ribbon).

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers, Die Cuts, Stickers, Enamel Dots (Heartland Farm), I-Magicut
American Crafts: Cardstock, Red Homestead Alphabet Thickers
