First Baseball Game - PageMaps

 Hello everyone!

Have you seen the new PageMaps sketches for December? I love working with Becky's sketches to kick start my mojo.

I've been wanting to scrap my grandson's first Minnesota Twins baseball game for a while now. I even bought the new Carta Bella Home Run collection designed by Steven Duncan.

As you can see the ballpark pretzel was paid more attention to then the game. lol

You can watch my YouTube process video here and hear all the details ...

Twins Game - JustNick Studios and Scrapbook Circle

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today to share a layout I created with the fabulous March Scrapbook Circle kit and JustNick Studio's digital cut files. All this week you can see inspiring projects from both design teams.

I think I squealed with delight when I opened up my box and saw products from the Shimelle's Little By Little collection, Amy Tangerine's On a Whim, and Paige Evan's Oh My Heart. I was dying to use the new Star Background 4 cut file. I thought it would be perfect for a sports layout and I have been wanting to scrap this picture of my daughter at a Minnesota Twins baseball game. Here is how my layout turned out ...

I cut the file knowing I wanted to put a 1/2" border around the edge using this colorful striped paper. Using the red from this same sheet of striped paper, I backed some of those star cutouts.

I even did some hand stitching with some red thread! Under my title I did a little journaling. I don't usually do handwriting on my layouts, but this kit came with a Pink Paislee stamp set so I could stamp the guidelines for my writing! I might be doing more handwriting on my layouts now. I used a lighter ink to stamp with so the emphasis would be on my journaling.

I think this is a new favorite cut file!

Here is the cut file I used today ...

Winter Wonderland

Hello blogging friends!

I am here today with another winter layout. This time I used with the amazing JustNick Studio Nordic Background 2 digital cut file. I just love the warm, comfy feel of that Nordic pattern with my winter photos. It's very... hygge (Yes, I learned a new word!)  In Danish, hygge (pronounced “HUE-gah”) means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Take a look at my layout and you will see what I mean. I used the beautiful Simple Stories Winter Wonderland collection.

I wanted this layout to coordinate with another layout I did at the end of December using the Nordic Background cut file, but yet I wanted it to be slightly different. The Nordic pattern of this cut file is divided into 2 triangles. I decided to arrange these at the top and bottom of my layout and create some white space on the right side. Using pennant flags reinforced the triangle pattern.  Here are some close-ups...

I love adding some machine stitching over this Nordic pattern for texture.

Here is the background cut file I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Stay warm and cozy ( Hygge ) !

SnowFun - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I love living in a place where I can enjoy the 4 seasons. In Minnesota, you can always count on snow and cold temps in the winter. You may think that hibernating is the best way to get through ... but there is lots of fun to be had outside still. My sister-in-law's family like to skate and play hockey on a pond in their backyard. I love this picture of them doing what they love together. When I saw the JustNick Studios Nordic Background digital cut file I knew it would make the perfect backdrop for their family photo. It adds a cozy feeling, just like a warm sweater. I used the awesome Simple Stories Winter Wonderland collection for this layout ...

Isn't that cut file amazing! Take a closer look. I love the machine stitching details.

This quote I fussy cut out from a journal card ties in with the sweater theme perfectly too; ' We Go Together Like Winter and a Sweater '  ...

Here are a few more close-ups ...

Here is the Nordic Background digital cut file I used today.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Holiday and I hope 2017 brings peace and prosperity!

Motorcross - JustNick Studios inspiration

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today sharing a layout I created using the awesome new JustNick Studios Broken Chevron Background digital cut file. I thought the chevrons would be great for some of my guy pics. It reminded me a little of tire treads and that made me think of my nephew who races motorcross. I thought it would be fun to scrap a photo of him racing his dirt bike. My nephew has been racing most of his life, traveling all over the place just to race. I used a mixture of several different manufactures; Shimelle's Star Shine, Maggie Holmes Bloom by Crate Paper, October Afternoon flair, and Cocoa Vanilla Studios Totally Rad wood veneer pieces. Here is my layout...

I filled the negative space of the chevrons with two different colors of pattern papers, keeping the same color in my rows. I thought it would be less busy that way so the focus would stay on my photo. I used the fun Lower Case Alpha for my title, cutting the letters large so that they would fill the space across the bottom of my layout.

I wanted more black accents, so I cut some stars out using the All Boy cut file. These were scattered diagonally across my layout along with some wood veneer gears.

I love how easily this layout came together! Here is a look at the cut files I used today.

All the fabulous new August cut files were just loaded in the JustNick OnLine Store. You really need to see these. They are seriously awesome!

You're Still the Dirtiest Girl on the Playground - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have a fun Cocoa Vanilla Studios Colour Me Happy layout to share today. My daughter loves to participate in mud runs. These pictures are from her second mud run a few years ago. It was raining that day, so the course was a little extra muddy. Everyone got real muddy, but I couldn't help but notice that my daughter was the dirtiest. Yup, that's my girl ... always the dirtiest girl on the playground when I picked her up as a preschooler ... and 20 years later, not much as changed! At least I am not doing her laundry anymore, lol. The girls made these colorful tutus of pink, blue, and green ... and I couldn't help but think of the Colour Me Happy collection. It was perfect to scrap these photos.

  DirtiestGirl

I kept the chevron colors the same vertically to match the tutus as much as possible. Then I stamped and splattered mud (ok, it was really spray mist) across the page and had fun adding embellishments like the cut apart words, enamel dots, flair buttons, and wood veneer words. I used a mixture of the alpha stickers and the cut apart phrases to create my title; You're Still Always the Dirtiest Girl on the Playground! Here are some detailed shots ...

Super Star - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with an adorable little boy Cocoa Vanilla Studios Totally Rad layout. This nephew of mine loves American football ... and he is only 2! Totally Rad was the perfect choice for scrapping this picture of him holding his beloved football. I love the cute little boy elements to this collection, like those robots. I decided to play up the stars from the collection with the help of a digital cut file from JustNick Studios. This particular cut file was a freebie from Scrapbook and Cards Today.

SuperStar

I backed my die cut star circles with 4 different pattern papers and arranged them in a grid on my layout. I have been wanting to do some hand stitching on a layout as I really love the look with the thicker threads of the floss versus my sewing machine thread. I kept the stitching pretty simple though, just some circles back-stitched around a few of the cut outs with embroidery floss matching the 4 pattern papers I chose from the Totally Rad collection. I do so love the look ... but it is much more tedious then using my sewing machine! After stitching, I embellished with the Totally Rad wood veneers, flair, woodies, enamel dots, paper clips, acetate stars, stickers, and die cut ephemera. I even used some tiny star wood veneers I had left from Made Of Awesome! Yes, I went a little crazy and I had lots of fun with it!

  SuperStar_Detail3

SuperStar_Detail2

I used one of the Totally Rad ephemera die cuts and the alpha stickers to create my title. Those tiny alpha sticker were also from my stash of Made Of Awesome!

SuperStar_TitleDetail

Of course I had to use an adorable little die cut ephemera robot. He helps to bring the focus to my photo on this busy layout. Some enamel shapes layered on my robot give him some dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope I inspired you to go a little crazy with your embellishments too. ~Marcia

Oh Boy - Cocoa Vanilla Studios

Hello blogging friends. I continue to pinch myself every time I get out my Cocoa Vanilla Studios papers. This Australian based paper company created by the very talented Zoe Pearn is definitely going to make an impression. Her first two collections; Sugar & Spice and Flying High are so fabulous. Take a look at this layout I created with the Flying High collection....

My inspiration for this layout came from a Page Drafts sketch by the very talented Em Stafrace. I really love her sketches. The banners here are very eye catching.

Page Drafts

That is my son Trenton in the photo. He received that football uniform for Christmas one year and loved it so much I had difficulty getting it off him to wash it. I wanted to play up the stars in the collection so I used a stencil and ink to add some to my background. Then I sprinkled some cork stars and star stickers over the top.

The flair button echos my title and sets off my photo perfectly. I layered more stickers here too.

For once I journaled directly on my layout!

Isn't this collection perfect for sport photos! Actually perfect for all things Boy!
thanks for stopping by.

Root, Root, Root - Quick Quotes Inspiration

Hello blogging friends!  Quick Quotes is providing some scrappy masculine inspiration all week in preparation for Father's Day. I decided to do a sports page since my daughter and her boyfriend went to a Minnesota Twins game recently and gave me their ticket stubs and this photo to scrap. Can you tell my daughter Naomi doesn't like her picture taken, lol.  So I made due with what I had and used the ticket stubs. The ticket stubs have great pictures on them so I used them in my negative strip SVG die cut. This left a little space that was perfect for my title placement.

I am mixing papers here from Just Jackson, Summer Samba, and Be Bold. I needed the red, white, and blue colors to match the team colors. Lots of the Quick Quotes collections can be mixed, many coordinate together so well.

Quick Quotes Supplies:
Just Jackson 200, 400
Summer Samba 400
Be Bold 400
Powderpuff Chalk Ink in Maraschino Cherry, and Biscotti

Other Supplies:
Cricut cartridge - Base Camp and Sports Mania
SVG negative strip file from SVGcuts Football Party
Bazzill cardstock
October Afternoon Mini Market alpha stickers
Imaginisce foam tape

I hope I have inpired you to scrap some sport pages too :)

Dirty Girls - Artful Delight

This is my final DT post at Artful Delight. It's time to see what some other fabulous designers can do with these awesome kits. I have thoroughly loved every minute of my 6 month term and I hope that I have inspired you, my friends, with my layouts. This is my 5th layout with the kit and I still had plenty of product to work with. I got brave and tried some new techniques too (dripping paint) and I love the end result.
This layout features my daughter Colette on the right with a couple of her friends. They had just finished the Dirty Girl Mud Run, a girl only 5K race that includes obstacles; very muddy obstacles. They were feeling as if they could do anything! Many of you know that Colette broke her neck in a car accident the summer of 2011. She had to wear a cervical collar for many months afterwards. When the collar came off she was still restricted to what physical activity she could do. Nothing high risk where she had a chance of falling. The restrictions were lifted in July and she wanted to do something to celebrate. She chose this race because it would challenge her physically and raised money for breast cancer. She even convinced a couple of her friends to run with her and several more came to watch. I am touched that she raised money for cancer too since I lost my best friend to cancer 18 months ago. The course took them a little over an hour to complete. I admit I was getting worried there toward the end after medics brought down a girl with a broken arm. I was so relieved when I finally spotted them nearing the last obstacle.

Well, enough babbling, let me tell you about the layout. I love the My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing papers. Pink was perfect for this layout since they were raising money for breast cancer. But I also wanted to emphasize the mud. I used acrylic paint and let it drip under the photo and other places. It looks like the mud is running right off the photo into the layout! I also used a paint brush to splatter paint on the background. The title was cut with my Cricut to match the race logo. I painted the lower half of the alphas with brown acrylic paint. Here are some close-ups

They actually had signs along the race course that said PMS ahead (Pretty Muddy Stuff), so I had to include that on the layout. The alpha stickers I used were from a previous Artful Delight kit, I ran out of "S"s on my alphas from this kit. This layout is based on sketch #231 at Creative Scrappers. I loved the large circle around the photos. I flipped the sketch on its side.
I am also linking up with Paper Issues "Believe in Yourself". October is Breast Cancer Awareness month!
Make an appointment and get 'em squished!!!
