Bubble Blowing Fun - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I have an awesome layout to share today using some fabulous JustNick Studios digital cut files. This one has a photo of my daughter at 15. She had just learned how to blow bubbles with her bubble gum. Of course, after learning how, she was chewing gum and blowing bubbles all the time. I thought it would be fun to use lots of circles in my design to put the emphasis on the bubbles. I selected the Protozoa Background and selectively backed only a few of the circles.

I used a sheet of acetate to back my cut file. The acetate sheet had lots of colorful circles on it as well. I created my title by mixing the Outline Alpha  and the Script Font digital cut files. I backed the outline alpha letters with a marbled pattern paper that reminded me of bubble gum.

Here is a closer look...

I framed my photo with the Round and Round cut file, adding even more circles to my design.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out what's new in the JustNick store.

Selfie Love - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with a fun layout using 3 different cut files from the JustNick Studio on-line store. When my daughter was a teenager, she had no selfie control, lol. I decided to create a layout of some (yes just some) of the selfies she took in just one night while at a football game with friends. I combined 2 different cut files to create my title "Selfie Love". Then I decided it would be fun to add a camera too. I used the awesome new Simple Stories Emoji Love collection. Here is how my layout turned out...

My title is a combination of the Capture This cut file and the Lots Of Love cut file.

I cut the camera out of black cardstock and backed it with a bright yellow to coordinate with the emojis. It's from the Summer Cards cut file.

Here are a few more detailed shots...

Don't Just Follow Your Dreams, Chase Them - JustNick Studios and Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends!

School is winding down here in the states and another of my nephews is graduating! I just received his grad party invite in the mail along with a photo and had to use the new JustNick Studios  Dreamcatcher_1 digital cut file to scrap it. The dreamcatcher is perfect for him as he is part American Indian.

I placed my title on the left side of my photo as I did not want to cover up too much of my dreamcatcher. Of course my title had to contain the word dream! To keep the dreamcatcher from being too busy I limited myself to just 3 different pattern papers.

This is my 5th layout with the May Clique Kit featuring the Fancy Pants Designs Attwell collection and I still have plenty of paper left for a few more layouts I think! I thought that feather pattern paper in the collection was perfect for the dreamcatcher. I also used the feather washi tape that was an add on.

Here is the Dreamcatcher_1 cut file I used...

I hope you snatched up the free cut files last weekend from JustNick Studios for International Scrapbook Day. This Dreamcatcher 1 file was one of the freebies.

Thanks for stopping by.

Go Kart Fun - Imaginisce Family Fun

Hello blogging friends! I have another Imaginisce Family Fun layout to share with you today. There seems to be no end to all the kinds of family activities that can be scrapped with the Family Fun collection! Today, I used the B sides of the papers for this layout. I was inspired by the black and white checkerboard paper. I immediately thought, that would be great paper for my son's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby pictures, but then remembered I had Go Kart pictures from a trip to Wisconsin Dells. These pictures were actually from a Girl Scout troop getaway, but fun is fun right? Either with family or friends... and Family Fun has it covered.

This layout is based on a sketch by the talented Suzanna Lee. Here is that sketch.

I loved Suzanna's sketch, but felt like I needed more white space to suit my style. This is where a sketch sometimes makes you think outside of the box. I decided to doodle along my layout edges. This allowed me to stay true to the sketch. I settled on some straight lines interspersed with the word 'VROOM'. I am quite happy with the result. I may have to doodle on my layouts more often. I also used my Imaginisce i-Top tool to create some custom brads for my layout. The i-Top is a great way to add some dimension. Here are some detail shots.

I found this racing frame in the Silhouette on-line store and knew immediately it would be perfect for this layout. Some ZigZag stitching adds a little bit of a grungy feel and those embellishments in the upper corner of the photo cover up a gentleman who I really didn't care to have on my layout, lol. The foam Thickers in red add just a little bit to draw your eye in. I love those chevrons.

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers, Die-Cuts (Family Fun), I-Top, small and medium Brad Daddies, small and medium I-Top punches, Red Foam Alphabet Thickers, Foam Adhesive
American Crafts: Cardstock, Slick Writer (black)
Silhouette Cameo
Brother Sewing Machine

You Rock - Paper Issues

Hello blogging friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I enjoyed the day at my Mom and Dad's house with my extended family. I thought I would share an Easter tradition with you to see if any of you have ever heard of this recipe before.

We have this pastry every year called Yeast Kranz. My Mom says it is my Aunt's recipe and she was Polish. I found a similar one here at tastebook.com. (I use warm milk instead of water when making it). The inside is a meringue filling with cinnamon and sugar, dates, and nuts. Pastries were not allowed during lent, so this delicacy was made at Easter to celebrate the end of lent. It is yummy!

Today we also celebrated my nephew Max's 13th birthday!

I made him this card. Thank you Silhouette store for having a card I could use for a teenager!!!

I am linking up to Paper Issues Pitch Perfect issue.
You still have a week to link up your issue and join the fun.

Have a great week!

Oh The Places You'll Go - Chalkboard Trend

Practical Scrappers is showcasing the chalkboard trend today. Go check out all the fabulous projects. Have you played with any of the chalkboard collections? They are everywhere! I used the We R Memory Keepers Chalkboard collection that was part of a kit I received from My Creative Scrapbook. They have such fabulous kits. I stopped my subscription when my hubby was injured last September and was out on disability. Now that he is back to work I might have to start it up again. I miss them and won't have my Archivers to go to anymore.

This is my daughter Colette and, at the time, her lifelong friend. These two lived across the street from each other all of their lives until Colette left for college. They gave each other haircuts (at the age of 3 I think), went to preschool together, then kindergarten, junior high, and high school. I love this happy photo of the two of them together on the day they graduated. Since then they have gone their separate ways. It makes me sad that they do not keep in touch better. Colette is now in her first year of Vet school and Melissa is still living at home and working as a physical trainer at a local gym.

I created negative space on my background with my Silhouette. I thought it would be fun to echo some celebratory phrases. A piece of ombre paper behind it makes it look like chalk words. I created the splatters with some gesso diluted down with water. No fancy mist needed folks. Some foam adhesive gives it some dimension. One of the things I really loved about this collection is that the stickers are dimensional.

Supplies:
Pattern paper, stickers: We R Memory Keepers Chalkboard collection
brads: My Mind's Eye Challk Studio
Gesso
Silhouette
Cardstock: American Crafts
Dies: Cheery Lynn doily die

I still feel like I am living at the North Pole (here in Minnesota the expected temperature this morning is -18F). Schools are cancelled again! I am so thankful for my remote car starter right now. Best Christmas present ever! Stay warm.

Life is Better With Friends - Authentique Be (you) tiful!

Happy Tuesday everyone. I have another Scraptown Lady layout to share today that I created using the Authentique Be (you) tiful collection. This collection is so beautiful with its soft yellows and greys. I knew immediately what photo I wanted to scrap with it. This is my niece and her BFF since kindergarten. This photo was taken by Maris Ehlers Photography in Hanover MN. She does a beautiful job. My sister-in-law has used her for family and senior portraits. If you are a local follower of mine, please check her out :)

I love the diagonal twist here, something different that gives it some extra pizzazz. Let me show you some close-ups of the dies I used.. In this first picture you can see the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish. I used 2 of them, one along the side and one along the bottom. I love the elegance of those swirls.

The yellow flowers were created with a flower trio die from My Favorite Things Die-namics. I layers 2 different sizes for dimension, adding a pearl in the center. Then I applied some gesso to grunge things up a bit. In the background you can see the fence die also from My Favorite Things Die-namics.

I created these flowers with some hemp cord. They are really easy to make. They help to keep the layout airy. In the center of these flowers are a Kaisercraft Sparklets.

The title combines different fonts and negative space. The banner here is the Fishtail Flags die from My Favorite Things. Even though this die only has the fishtail on one end, you can still use them to cut a banner like this. Just carefully place the cut banner back in the die and send it through your die cut machine again.
Easy Peasy :)

Freshman Formal - Artful Delight

Happy Monday everyone! I am sad to say that this is my last reveal using the August Artful Delight scrapbook kit. The good news is that means the September kit will be in the mail soon! Did you see my sneak peak on Saturday? It's incredible, full of Kaisercraft, Echo Park, October Afternoon, and Fancy Pants.
Today's layout features my daughter Colette all dressed up for her Freshman Formal with her friends. I used the Basic Grey Paper Cottage papers. They were perfect for all the colors in this photo....
I used the left side of this sketch from the Basic Grey blog August challenge....

This paper was so perfect for fussy cutting....

and if you haven't noticed, I really made use of those rub-ons. They are so fun!!!
These stickers were fun to use too...
There are still a few kits left here.
Here is the Scrapbook kit:
and the card kit:
The kits are packed with the papers by Bo Bunny, Prima and Basic Grey's new Paper Cottage. They are the best!!! I still have lots of paper and embellishments left after creating 4 layouts this month with my August kit.

It's Minnesota State Fair time, so yesterday we headed to the fair. This is one of my favorite things at the fair!
I convinced my hubby to go down with me!
My son came home from college for the weekend with his girlfriend and tagged along with us. They are so adorable together. And of course we tried lots of different fair food....
I call this one "Synchronized Cheese Curd Eating".

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
