Nurture - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I had an amazing 2018 ... and I cannot believe I am sharing my first layout of 2019 already! This week we are focusing on layouts about ourselves, or about our 2019 goals. Well lucky for you, my niece took some family photos for us just before Christmas because my selfie skills are severely lacking. I had to crop my hubby out of this photo so it was just me,lol.

I don't do One Little Word, but I like to see the words other people pick and why. It gets me thinking about what I should try to improve upon in the upcoming year. I chose NURTURE. When you nurture something, it thrives. I spend a lot of time taking care of the people around me that sometimes I don't take care of me. My exercise gets overlooked if I need to find some extra minutes in my day. I am sure many of you can commiserate. But I also want to nurture my relationships. It's important to spend quality time not only with my husband, but my aging parents as well (especially my Dad who suffers from dementia).
So here is my NURTURE layout that I created with the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection and awesome digital cut files from JustNick Studios.

I love to create texture and interest on my backgrounds using a white pattern on a white background. It's subtle, not too overpowering. I used the Tin Tile Background  on here. It's a beautiful backdrop for my title created with the Outline Alphas.

This Stem digital cut file is one I use over and over again. I love how delicate it is and it's perfect for layering in your embellishment clusters like I did here.

Here are the digital cut files I used today...

Do you have a word for 2019 that you've chosen? I would love to hear what it is. Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Let the Sparks Fly - JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

This week designers at JustNick Studios were challenged to concentrating on those word cut files. I thought it would be fun to scrap some New Year's Eve photos and use the New Year Words cut file. When combined with the Confetti Background cut file, you have a recipe for a fabulous New Year's Eve party layout!!

Here is a close up of that awesome Confetti Background cut file.

I love the ready made titles in the New Year Words cut file. "Let The Sparks Fly" was perfect for this photo.

Here are the cut files I use today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hello Life - Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with my fourth layout that I created with the January Clique Kit featuring the awesome Fancy Pants Designs Happy Place collection.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this kit!!! I still have lots of paper and embellishments left too, which is amazing because I love to use lots of pattern papers on my layouts. For today's post, I thought I would give you an idea on how to use some of those labels that came with the kit. I created this layout, documenting some of my 2016 New Year resolutions. I am also using one of the exclusive digital cut files designed by Lacey. I love this one because it reminds me of confetti. I really love how this one turned out even though it has a photo of me, lol.

  HelloLife

It often amazes me that some people can be so happy-go-lucky and others are so serious. I am one of those serious people. This year I want to Smile More, Make Time for Me, Have Fun, Laugh Often, Spend Time with my Family, and Celebrate Every Day. I selected some of the puffy script stickers that were an Add-on and some of the ephemera die cuts. Then I decided to print the text I needed on vellum. This would allow me to move things around. For no show adhesive on the vellum, I used my Xyron Sticker Maker.

  VellumWords

Then I arranged the vellum, stickers, and ephemera die cuts on the labels. I like how the stitching emphasizes my resolutions.

There are so many awesome ephemera die cuts. I used another one for my title here.

Happy New Year! - Imaginisce

Hello blogging friends! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas.

Wow, where did the year go? I cannot believe 2015 is coming to an end already ... as is my time designing for Imaginisce! But, after three years, it is time to say goodbye. I will always have a special place in my heart for my Imaginisce papers and tools. My very first publication was an Imaginisce layout in Scrapbook and Cards Today!

Do you all have your New Year's plans made? Hubby and I like to spend a quiet New Year's at home now. Oh, there will still be champagne ... just not all the noise from party goers. Some of my favorite New Year's Eve gatherings were with our neighbors who moved south this year to escape the cold Minnesota winter. Hopefully, sending them a Happy New Year card instead of a Christmas card will remind them of those happy times too. My box card base makes use of a SVGcuts digital file. But I modified the inside pieces to make it more suitable for New Year's.

Box cards fold flat for mailing, but I really love how they can be displayed for enjoyment by the receiver. You can see I used my i-Rock to add some gemstones to bling it up. I love how it turned out.

Supplies:
Imaginisce : Pattern Papers (Happy Traveler, Family Fun), i-Rock, Clear Gemstones
American Crafts: Cardstock
SVGcuts Summer Box Card digital file
Xyron adhesive
Pink Stamper stamp "CHEER"
Silhouette "Happy New Year" and "Champagne glasses" are available in their library

Happy New Year! - Clique Kits

Hello blogging friends.... yes this is my second post today! Yup ... trying to catch-up on my blogging after an exhausting work week and lack of sun for photographing my layouts. At least there is no sun when I am home. I will be so glad when the days get a little longer.

I got to work with a mini kit this month for Clique Kits, some My Minds Eye Wild Berry Jubilee 6x6 papers and lots of embellishments. Did you know Clique Kits has a on-line store in addition to those fabulous monthly kits! and you can use Coupon Code Marcia10 and save 10%.

Here is what I created with my mini kit...

I was inspired by a layout by Missy Whidden where she created a confetti 12x12 layout with the Wild Berry Jubilee paper. I decided to do something similar but on a smaller scale, since I only had the 6x6 papers. The enamel shapes on top add to the confetti look, don't you think.

This photo is from several years ago. It was the one and only time we went to a hotel for a New Year's Party with friends. Usually one or the other of us is stuck working and the other one would be entertaining the kids. Or we would get together with friends for a house party. House parties are always funner. Some Love My Tapes washi tape helps to anchor my photo and creates a border at the top and bottom of my layout.

I colored in the mustache on the die cut to make it stand out more. I also altered the wood geo tag journal spot with some Heidi Swapp Tinsel color wash. That silver color looks lots more festive than the wood.

The February Clique Kit was just revealed!  SQUEAL!!!

Doesn't it look fabulous! Sign up to reserve yours today! plus the kits come with exclusive digital cut files!!!
I am going to try to play with my kit this weekend. Wahooo!

Happy New Year - Love My Tapes

Hello blogging friends.  Marcia here today with a confession. I did not get all my Christmas cards mailed. Life is just so busy before Christmas. But I wanted my friends and family to know I've been thinking about them, so I decided I needed to make some Happy New Year cards.

I cut the sentiment with my Silhouette Cameo and instead of using the positive, I filled the negative space underneath with washi tape. I thought this silver washi tape with tiny stars was perfect.

Here is another making use of the negative, but on this card I ran the washi taped cardstock through my Cameo. This same technique can be done with dies or other electronic cutting machine. Since I was working with a striped pattern, I also took care to match up the stripes.

and here is my card...

By using the positive and the negative cuts for my cards, I was able to make several cards quickly. So if you are like me and don't want to fall off your friends and family Christmas card lists, it's not too late. Send a New Year's card instead.

2013 - An Epic Year!

Happy New Year! Hello my blogging friends. If you are looking for the Top 10 of 2012 blog hop + my giveaway, scroll down or click the link.

My first Imaginisce project for the year is a layout for the current challenge.

The challenge rules are as follows:
1. Create a layout/card using the sketch provided
2. Use at least 75% Imaginisce product
3. Use the color blue somewhere on your project
4. Theme : Pick ONE word that will describe you/your outlook for the year 2013

Here is a look at the awesome sketch from Diana:
2013 will be a year of many celebrations for me. In July, my husband and I will be celebrating 30 years of marriage! Then in September, I will turn 50 years young! Yes, if you are doing the math, I got married at the age of 19 to my high school sweetheart and best friend. At the moment, all 3 of our kids are in college. Naomi, our oldest should graduate in December with her MFA in creative writing. So the word I chose to describe my outlook for 2013 is "Epic".  Here is my take on the sketch...
Now, I am still waiting to get my DT box from Imaginsce so I dug into my stash. I am using some Lucy Bird, Apple Cider, Monster Mash, and Happy Camper on this layout. The rolled flowers are also Imaginisce. They come precut, so you are ready to roll! Here is a close up of my rolled flowers...
I was a little upset with my computer printer when a new cartridge I installed wouldn't work, so I was forced to hand journal ( I hate my writing).

I hope you will join in this latest challenge at Imaginisce. May 2013 be an epic year full of joy for you!
