Goeb Family - Quick Quotes Club Q

Hello blogging friends. I have some Quick Quotes Club Q inspiration to share. I love it when I can play with the Club Q kits! This month's Club Q was spectacular. When I first saw the kits I thought; That would be great with a heritage photo. I went searching through my photos and found this. My Mom gave me this photo a few years ago. It is the only photo I have of her as a little girl. My Grandmother must have taken the photo. I wish she was in the picture too. I used primarily the 2 page layout kit and added a few papers from the other layout kit to come up with this  ....

The kit has these pretty die cut flowers and pearls. I wanted to add a touch of lace to give it a more vintage feel. These lace flowers did the trick. I actually took the bottom piece of the flower off as I thought they were too bulky and used it with the flowers in the kit. I love how my flower cluster turned out...

Of course everyone wants to know who is who. I printed the details using my computer and a word doc. Print first on plain paper until you get it the size you want. Then adhere the pattern paper over the text. Hold it up to a light to make sure its positioned correctly. Then run it through your printer again.

Unforgettable Moments - Scrap Town Lady

Happy Wednesday! I played with a Spring Authentique collection; Remembrance, while we are waiting for the new CHA products to trickle down to us. Cheryl has been busy adding new products every day to Scrap Town Lady, so be sure to check out the store. I just saw the Authentique Seasons: Autumn in the store. I love the Remembrance collection of papers. They are so beautiful! I played up the softness and created this shabby layout of my paternal grandparents.

I used this sketch by the very talented Nadia Cannizzo from Once Upon a Sketch. The theme for August is "I'll never forget"

My journaling is hidden behind the upper right corner of the photo and reads...

"My grandparents were already quite old when I was born. My father was their last child out of 11 children.  I regret that I did not get to know them better. I will never forget that they taught me how to play cards and always had lemon drops to give me for a treat. Cold cereal wasn’t good enough, I was served warm oatmeal in the morning (not the instant stuff either). My Grandpa’s favorite expression was “POW!”, usually spoken when telling my Mom and Dad about someone that had died. They spoke a little German and I was told “machs gut” (which means take care) when leaving after a visit. But now that I am a mother, I want to ask my grandma and grandpa what kind of kid was my father. I bet they have some stories they could tell."

Let me show you some detail shots. The most notable die I used is the Cheery Lynn French Pastry Doily. Not only did I tuck it under the photo, but I cut pieces to tuck between my paper where I tore it.

I also used the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Fourish die, some gorgeous Prima flowers, and a few purple flowers that I made using the My Favorite Things Die-namics Flower Trio die. The metal pieces have patina ink and white paint on them to give them a more shabby appearance.

Scrap Town Lady has this gorgeous Snug Hug ribbon that comes in a large variety of colors. I tucked a few buttons I made from the My Favorite Things Die-namics Button Border die into my flower cluster in various places. I love these Prima felt flowers for a soft touch.

I am also linking up with Berry71Bleu for their Textile challenge. My textiles: canvas, felt, thread, and ribbon. The doilies are paper but look so real, don't they.

Ellen - Scrap Town Lady inspiration

Hello my blogging friends. It was a rainy weekend here so I scrapped some and cleaned some. My yard and flower beds need some attention but they will have to wait. At least it's not snow :)

I received 2 boxes of goodies from the Scraptownlady.com on-line store and was dieing to play with them. I chose the Kaisercraft 75 Cents collection and My Favorite Thing Die-namics dies to create this vintage layout of my Mother-in-law as a little girl.

The journaling reads "born Ellen Brost, 1940. Wasn't she a cutie!  at 2 years old."

The flourishes, banner, flags, flowers, and leaves are all My Favorite Thing Die-namics dies. They are thin American made metal dies that can cut through cardstock, fabric, thin chipboard, felt, 1/4" cork, or wood veneer paper. These dies are so fabulous!! I am going to have to try and make a felt flower or wood veneer flourish :)
I added some hand stitched vines for my flowers - Check out Practical Scrappers to see how the other designers have used hand stitching.

I adore Kaisercraft papers and my local scrapbook store does not carry them. Scraptownlady not only carries these and other hard to find papers, but fabulous dies, inks, ribbons, and just added to the store... Blue Fern chipboard!! A Sister is the Best of Friends - Artful Delight

Happy Monday my friends!! I hope you all had a fun weekend. I created another layout with my fabulous Artful Delight scrapbook kit and am thrilled with how it turned out. My sister Tina turned 50 this past September and her co-workers threw her a surprise party. They contacted me to dig up some old pictures. This is one I came across. I thought a vintage photo would be perfect for these colorful Echo Park For the Record 2 papers. Here is my layout...

My sister is the one pushing me on the tricycle. I am not even a year old in this picture and my feet didn't even reach the pedals! My sister has always been there for me. I am so lucky to have her in my life. I am in love with the Studio Calico wood veneers in the kit. Why have I never tried them before? This is one of the reasons I love Artful Delight's scrapbook kits. The negative strip and doilies are from my stash. Here are a couple close-ups...

TinType Layout featuring the new Chipboard Die Cuts

The Paper Variety Black & White Challenge

This is my first designer post for The Paper Variety. The current challenge for the next 2 weeks is to

I immediately thought a formal occasion would be perfect for a black & white challenge, so I dug into some heritage photos and decided on this one of my maternal grandparents.

The papers are from the Echo Park's Be Mine collection. I loved how the background paper is slightly distressed adding to the vintage feel of the layout. The quote is perfect too. My grandparents were in their 20's when they married, a little older than what was usual for the times.Be watching for a tutorial on how to make these beautiful roses in an upcoming blog post!
