It's time for another sketch challenge at Sketchabilities and it is a great one!! Here is Karan's latest sketch...
Here is my take on the sketch....
This is a photo of my niece Natalie. She has been lucky enough to have enjoyed a few Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans! I had a lot of fun with this layout. I love the harlequin pattern behind the title. At first I tried to mist it with Gold Glimmer mist, but it seeped under the stencil. Maybe because the paper was slightly corrugated, maybe because I spritzed too much. Anyway, it's a good thing paper has 2 sides, LOL. I used my chalk inks to stencil the pattern on this side.
The paper is some old Rusty Pickle I picked up a few years ago intending to use it on some birthday pictures (My daughter had a Mardi Gras birthday cake one year). But when I saw this photo of my niece, I knew I wanted to use these papers! The playing cards were dry embossed and sanded. The feather flowers are from Prima. Here are some more close-ups...
I found this white feather trim at my local Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts and had to have it. I ended up with feathers everywhere when I cut the trim. It's been a week since I did this layout and I am still finding feathers!! Totally worth it though. Hope my niece likes this layout. I think I will frame it and gift it to her for her birthday.
I hope you will join us in this next Sketchabilities challenge! Can't wait to see what you create.
