Puppy Love - July PageMaps

 Hello friends,

Becky has another set of amazing PageMaps sketches released for July. Here is the sketch I chose to work with this month.

I recently got my hands on the Doodlebug Pretty Kitty collection and I was dying to use it to scrap some photos of our latest foster fail Allie. Even though this collection is for scrapping your kitties, I wanted the pastel papers to scrap our pretty Allie girl. Can you blame us for foster failing when you see how affectionate she is? It's a good thing she is cute too, because she has tried to eat the house mopboards, stair railings, numerous rugs, and my porch furniture! I varied from the sketch slightly by flipping it  and incorporating the title into different strips of pattern papers instead of the single piece as shown in the sketch. Here is my layout ...

There are more sketches to inspire you on the PageMaps website.

Prone to Shenanigans and Malarkey | JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am back today with some St Patrick's Day inspiration using some awesome JustNick Studio digital cut files. My daughter and a friend were lucky enough to spend a few weeks traveling across Europe a few years ago. Ireland was one of her favorite places. She said the people there were so friendly. I thought it would be fun to scrap the selfie she sent me from an Irish pub on her first night there.

Have you seen the new Crop Circle Background? It has a Celtic vibe to it, so I wanted to use it for my background. I cut it out of a gold metallic cardstock ... because Leprechauns like gold, right? I love how intricate this is.

I decided to mix some fonts to create my fun title. The Outline Alphas look amazing when backed with a variety of green pattern papers and I combined it with the Type It Font cut out in a black cardstock for contrast.

Big titles are awesome when you don't have a lot of photos and your camera phone photos aren't as high a quality. Here is more of the Type It Font for 'warning'

Here are the cut files I used today...

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have an awesome St Patrick's Day!

Holiday Cards | JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

I am here today with some Holiday card ideas (in case you are like me and still making cards to mail). The Holiday Cards 2 JustNick Studio digital cut file makes cardmaking a breeze. Add a couple stickers and some twine or sequins and they are good to go. These first 2 cards were made with  PhotoPlay Paper's Mad For Plaid Christmas collection. I just adore this Santa.

Using some Kraft cardstock on this one gives it a masculine feel. It's perfect for my  brother.

Making cards is a great way to use up some of that stash you've been hoarding too. Aren't these penguins from Doodlebug the cutest! I used some self adhesive sequins from Jillibean Soup to add some bling.

Here is the cut file I used today ...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your Holiday with friends and family!

Let's Go! | JustNick Studios

Hello blogging friends!

All week on the JustNick Studio blog we have been bringing you Back To School inspiration. Today, it's my turn. I swear, I have the cutest, happiest nephew! Here he is showing off his new backpack.

I used 5 digital cut files to create this layout. The Broken Mirror Background cut file allowed me to use up some scraps filling in the negative space with different pattern papers.

To create movement on my layout, I wanted my title to go up one side of my photo and across the top. To connect the two, I modified the arrow from the All Boy digital cut file, making it much longer. This allowed me to fold it to fit around my photo. I used two different fonts for my title, the Type It Font and the OutLine Alphas. I love mixing fonts to create more interest in my titles.

To finish framing my photo, I tucked the Today File Folder underneath my photo.

Here are the cut files I used today ...

I even have a process video for you. It is part of a Back To School Series with Christine Meyer and Katelyn Clary. Links to their videos will be posted at the end of my video.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a fabulous weekend!

Top Dog Dies - New Release

Hello blogging friends!

Top Dog Dies just release some fabulous winter dies.... perfect for your Christmas card making or Winter themed cards. This Polar Bear die set is one of my favorites from the release. Aren't they adorable!

I used the Doodlebug Frosty Friends collection for my card...

Besides the Polar Bear die set I used the Borders 2 die set as well. There are 3 border dies in the set. I used this delicate scallop.

Those snowflakes are part of the Polar Bear die set as well. I love all the details in this die set, from the iceberg to that scallop circle die cut. And who wouldn't love those adorable polar bears!

Supplies:
Top Dog Dies Polar Bear die set

I am so Lucky- Top Dog Dies

Hello blogging friends. Marcia here today with a St Patrick's Day card. Although I think this card could double as a Valentine too.

To create an interesting edge with the new dotted ric rac border die, I tucked the cut off piece underneath so it peeked out. I also used a heart die from the Heart Album Finishing Set to create these fun four leaf clovers. They were a fabulous way to add just a little dimension to my card.

Supplies:

Doodlebug Design Pattern Paper (Happy-Go-Lucky collection)
American Crafts cardstock
Quick Quotes chalk ink
twine

Check out the other new dies in the Top Dog Dies store. Have a fabulous day!

S.W.A.K. - Valentine Tutorial for Top Dog Dies

Hello blogging friends. I’m so thrilled to be posting for the first time as a design team member for Top Dog Dies.

Now that New Year's celebrating is over I am thinking it's time to create some Valentines. When I saw this Heart Doily die, I knew I wanted to create a shaker card with it.

Want to give it a try? Here’s what you’ll need...

Supplies:
Top Dog Heart Doily Die
Top Dog Heart Mini Album Finishers Die Set
Top Dog Hearts Border die
Top Dog Vintage Alphabet die
cardstock in white, black, light pink, bright pink, and red
white foam sheet (look in the kid's craft section)
transparency (office supply)
pattern paper
sequins
Xyron Creative Station, tape runner

Step 1.
With both dies of the Heart Doily, cut 1 from the foam sheet, and one from light pink cardstock. If your dies are cut apart, use washi tape to keep the dies in place while cutting. These metal dies will cut through the foam with no problem!

Step 2.
Cut the dies apart and using just the outer die, cut 1 from white cardstock and 1 from transparency.

Step 3.
Create some confetti for inside the shaker using the Heart Border die. Cut 1 each from the red, light pink, and bright pink cardstock.

Step 4.
Assembly. Adhere the transparency over the foam heart frame followed by the pink frame. I find I like to use my Xyron Creative Station for shakers to ensure a good adhesive seal all around. This way the confetti and sequins won't leak out. Once the pink frame and transparency are adhered to the foam, run it through the Xyron Creative Station again.

Step 5.
Turn the heart shaker upside down and fill with confetti and sequins. Carefully adhere the white cardstock heart on top.

Step 6.
Now you are ready to create your card with your shaker! I used the Vintage Alphabet die for my S.W.A.K. (sealed with a kiss) and the Heart Mini Album finishers set for the envelope, lips, and heart.

So, I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial today and hope that you will come see me over on my blog One Scrap At a Time

Have a great week!
~Marcia

Top 10 of 2014!

Hello blogging friends! I am sharing some of my favorite projects of 2014 in a fun hop with an awesome prize up for grabs that you can win just by commenting on the participating blogs. What prize you ask ...  why a $75 Gift Certificate to Paper Issues!!!!  The more you comment, the better your chances of winning. $75 can buy a lot of scrappy goodies that Santa didn't bring you!

Have we got an awesome hop for you, WOW! Take a look at this line-up.

Marcia Dehn-Nix <----- you are here.

You should have arrived from the amazing Jen Matott's blog. If not, you may want to jump back to start at the beginning. I tried really hard to whittle my list down to 10, but settled on 14 instead, (14 for 2014) Here are my favorites in no particular order. Links to download free cut files are included on a few.

I created this layout for Creative Scrappers using sketch #271. The paper is Echo Park Splendid Sunshine and Simple Stories Fresh Air.

This layout I had published in the September issue of Papercrafts and Scrapbooking Magazine and was created with Echo Park's Fall Reflections. That chevron cut file was a freebie. You can download it from Creative Scrappers here.

Here is a card I created for Xyron using the Graphic 45 By The Sea collection. The wood veneer nautical wheel is from Creative Embellishments.

Here is a layout created with some Doodlebug Snips and Snails collection.

I created this layout for Imaginisce using a PageMaps sketch. It won me an awesome prize from My Creative Scrapbook. The papers are from the Perfect Vacation collection.

Another Imaginisce  project for Thanksgiving using the Bushel O' Fall papers.

This Imaginisce layout was to be published by Northridge Publishing, and now I fear I will never see it again. They never returned it to me along with 2 other layouts. The papers are from the Outdoor Adventure and Colors of Christmas collections. If you would like my snowflake circles cut file, it can be downloaded here. After I went through all the work of welding those circles and snowflakes together I figured others might as well benefit from it :)

I created this layout for Love My Tapes. It too is based off sketch #267 from Creative Scrappers and uses the Santa's List collection from Teresa Collins.

This Easter banner makes me happy with its colored burlap and whimsical Imaginisce Welcome Spring papers and die cuts.

Imaginisce has an awesome new collection called Family Fun that I used to create these cards...

I am in love with the trendy triangles, Pinkfresh Studio chevrons, and washi tape on this next layout I created for Clique Kits. Their October kit featured Basic Grey's Second City and was my favorite kit so far. Be sure to check out their store. They have a massive clearance sale going on right now. If you use coupon code Marcia10 you can get an additional 10% off the clearance prices!

I love this card I made for a Xyron and Spellbinders swap using some Little Yellow Bicycle from my stash.

This layout of my daughter and her Great Pyrenees was published in the Winter issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today using the Fancy Pants Timbergrove collection and Creative Scrappers sketch #259! So excited to say it was chosen as the editor's favorite!

I created this canning lid pumpkin for Love My Tapes, inspired by one I saw on Pinterest.

Let me know if you have a favorite.... Then hop on over to the very talented  Ashley N Newell's blog.
