Team Dave + Clique Kits Challenge

Hello blogging friends. I have another layout I created with the December Clique Kit to share with you today. I wanted to give you some insight into what inspired me for my latest layout. It was this 4×6 journal card from the Echo Park Creative Agenda collection. It reminded me of the musical Rent and that made me think of my brother-in-law Dave who is battling cancer. When you are in a battle for your life, you realize just how precious time is as well as those people we love to spend that time with.

Dave was just released from the hospital again after more surgery which was then complicated by his getting pneumonia. Hubby and I took some food over last night and were touched to see that my sister's co-workers had bought them a real tree! They are blessed with some truly awesome friends.
Anyway,,, Last Spring, my daughter and I participated in the Minneapolis Bladder Cancer Walk with Dave and lots of friends and family. So I dug out the few pictures I had from the event. Then I looked for a sketch that would work with my photos and journal cards. I found this one at Stuck?! Sketches.

My next step is deciding what papers and embellishments to use. But I wanted the emphasis still to be that journal card, so I used my Silhouette to cut the words out of my background paper. It makes a bold statement. Here is my finished layout…

One of the add-ons for the kit were these fabulous paper clips from Freckled Fawn and I cannot get enough of them.

I spritzed some Heidi Swapp color shine in tinsel on my camera ephemera and layered some chipboard stickers on top. Using foam adhesive adds dimension, making the layers pop.

I used my computer to add my journaling as I don’t especially like my own handwriting.

Danielle Young Designs created the digital pocket cards for our December kit. So I created this mini card with one of her backgrounds to inspire you all to join our challenge...

The fan is from the Heidi Swapp ephemera pack and I couldn't help being a little cheesy with the sentiment. Finals week  for my daughter in Vet school is this next week and this card will be perfect to tuck in her Survive Finals Week care package.
So create something mini and link up to Clique Kits here.
