Wonder & Wishes

I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to work with Little Yellow Bicycle's Wonder & Wishes collection! They asked me to make one item to share on their blog. ONE! Who could stop at one? so I made three.
First I am going to share my layout.
When I was looking through some older Christmas photos of my kids that I had not yet scrapbooked, I came across this photo of my kids on Christmas morning. The plaid in the girls’ skirts and in the stocking hanging above them from the fireplace mantle was similar to the plaid paper in the Wonder & Wishes collection.  It was as if it was destined when I saw 3 chipboard stockings. I had to make a banner using them. Don't you love the confetti garland too.

The Wonder & Wishes collection has so many fabulous embellishments to choose from.  The hard part is deciding which ones to use as I loved so many! The Paper Flower kit makes it easy to add gorgeous flowers with its precut shapes.

My last project is a gift card holder. It seems that I am giving more gift cards as gifts this year as my nieces and nephews and my own kids are getting older.  Then there are gift cards I purchase for teachers, close friends and family.  My starving college student daughters are getting gift cards for groceries and gas. Now, I know that some people think that a gift card is the easy way out. We should shop for hours to find the perfect gift for that someone special. I don’t know about you, but I love getting a gift card! I can go shopping again!! These gift card holders are a fun, decorative way to present your gift.
The gift card fits in a holder on the inside.
The journaling cards are handy for placing inside so you can add your own message. It's like wrapping your gift card and tying it with a bow!
Here is how I made it ....
1. Score an envelop down the middle, across the flap. I used an envelop that was left over from my photo Christmas cards.
2. Cut away part of the middle envelop flap so that it matches the end of the flap. You can choose to leave both flaps so that you can gift 2 gift cards! The ones I did are for a single gift card.
3. Ink all the edges.
4. Cut 4 pieces of paper to fit on the front, insides, and back. Cut another to fit on the flap.
5. Glue the ribbon or twine down the middle of the front leaving enough to tie a bow.
6. Adhere the paper to the front over the ribbon. The back is adhered with the ribbon loose on top.
7. Use a tag or circle punch to cut out part of the inside papers. This makes it easier to pull the gift card in and out.
8. Adhere the inside paper pieces.

9. Adhere the paper on the envelop flap and trim to fit.
10. Decorate the front and the inside as you like.

11. Add your gift card and tie the ribbon and you have a gift that comes from the heart.
